Oscar: Cotto easier than Manny!!

I have been reading how de la Hoya's people are saying Manny would be a tougher opponent than Cotto. Boy what people would do to sell a fight.

we will just have to wait and see. manny infact is the p4p king. the only thing against pac is that his smaller. sometimes fighters know some are that good their size can not be overlooked. oscar is definitly not overlooking how smaller pac is. he does know him and pacs trainer well. he must know what his talking about. oscar could be worried more because of pacs speed and unlimited stamina.

Oscar is different from Oscar's people, unless you have direct quote of Oscar saying this then you should change the title of this thread because it misrepresents the situation.

Oscar people must be smoking crack. Now that I think about it I think I want to see Cotto-Pac. Yeah that would be nice

oscar will be an easier fight than cotto ;D. pac just got to get to the 7th round with oscar and he can pick him apart from there while oscar is gas once again. ;)

Good point. I doubt Oscar himself would say something that ridiculous. His people, however, are laughable, at how transparent their desperate attempts to hype a fight with Pacquiao really are.

Re: Oscar: Cotto easier than Manny!!

Stylistically Pacman vs Oscar would be a good matchup. But realisticly Oscar is way too big. I mean Oscar has weighed in as high as 160lbs whereas Manny weighed in for his debut at 106lbs. I know that neither of these are either fighters natural weight but for me Manny at Lightweight has gone as high as he can EFFECTIVELY go and Oscar would probably demand a catchweight of 150.
I personally would prefer to see Manny take over and unify the 135 division and I would like to see Oscar fight the winner of the Cotto-Margarito fight. I certainly wouldn't write Oscar out of winning a fight between himself and the winner of that either.
The only thing is say he does take on the winner of that fight and beat them what would happen then? Mayweather would all of a sudden want a rematch with Oscar and then retirement would be out of the window for Oscar as it would then be too much of a money making event for the money making machine that is Oscar De La Hoya!

Re: Oscar: Cotto easier than Manny!!

obviously this is a publicity stunt to make this fight happen. Because if Glory is what Oscar and PAC wants then they should fight the best in the welterweight division(winner of Cotto-Margarito).
Just so happens that Oscar-PAC combo could probably sell more than Oscar vs. ............ or PAC vs......................

To reiterate this fight is not for Glory or divisional supremacy but a delusional attempt for a mega buck showdown between some of the biggest names in boxing currently

True, very true. Didn't mean to mislead anyone with the post at all (not my style). Just meant to spur anaylysis and conversation. Regardless, knowing de la Hoya and his money grubbing, I wouldn't put it past him to actually claim that publicly sometime in the future. He is a smart guy and I wouldn't put it past him to OK his people to make the comment, either. It's all speculation, I must admit.

I read that Arum told Roach to shut up dogging Oscar as its unprofessional and not making it any easier doing a deal.

Freddie seems to think Manny is superman.

The reality is it's just for the money, logic dictates PAC has a minute chance of winning let alone completing the 12 rounds.

Its a money fight no doubt, i cannot see Pacquaio fighting Oscar before fighting Hatton. Oscar is probably talking about fighting the winner.

Why would pac not fight Hatton at 140 (hich in mosts eyes is a pickem) get a truck load of money anyway then move up again and fight Oscar?

PAC wanted to fight Hatton in November but unfortunately Hatton is already booked with Paulie.
PAC needs a fight in November or December and Hoya might be available.
So it might come out this way for PAC, Hoya in December and Hatton next year.

Either that or Oscar can just keep him on the distance with a jab and the one-two like Eric did for an easy unanimous decision. Even the crowd roared "Ooooleeeee" every time Pac did his straight left charge.

And many of his fans too can't see Manny loosing even if he fought a heavyweight or daring themselves to mention a weakness or two.
This fight will benefit Oscar and Pac when it comes to money. I somehow feel Pac draws way more fans than Cotto and ODLH can fight a bum and still sell out EVEN A STADIUM! How many fighters nowadays can do that? Anyways, ODLH vs Pac will definitely bring more money and both will leave the ring happily after the fight.

OK forgive me for asking this, I'm afraid I'm taking the bait.
Why would anyone ever assume that Pac and Cotto are the same size?

So that we can evaluate the other factors (skills, speed, heart, stamina, etc.) in PAC and Cotto's arsenal that can possibly give problems to Hoya. Remember we will not factor the size here, assume PAC and Cotto are of same size.

OK, you mean match them up P4P or match them up as prospective ODLH opponents? Because if it's matching them up and comparing them for ODLH, then you can't assume they are the same size because they simply aren't.

I'd rather he wear drag AND beat up Ricky Hatton.....and then piss on him while Ricky's being counted out.

Why the anger towards Ricky???? Well the fans he brings are all worthless chavs and hooligans (not sure if I'm being redundant but I hate you all)

Oscar is crazy if he thinks he'd beat Cotto....Cotto just whipped Shane Mosley in a way that Oscar STILL couldn't do, and Oscar got clipped by Floyd and damn near took a spill so I think Cotto could KO Oscar....we've all seen him take a good body shot before and he didn't like it very much

I am not a Mayweather fan but how in the hell can you explain what the "fans" that Ricky brings to the fights do?

Ricky might be a class guy and he seems like it but his fans are worthless and they have gone out of their way to prove it

 Nor am I.

Ricky has long alligned himself with Manchester City Football club.
This has allowed him a massive number of fans, from both Manchester Cities supportes and English Football. These sports are famed for notoriously aggresive fans and in the sport booing an opposing National anthem or theme song is nothing unusual.
(I know you're already aware of this Lyle, you support Liverpool, so I don't mean to preach to you.)
I think since that time, Ricky's people have gone out of their way to change that behaviour.
