Pac vd DLH will be another Changing of the Guard!!
When Pac 1st fight in the US as a replacement opponent for Ledwaba, he's so impressive that HBO want to see him again.
When he took on Barrera as a Big Underdog and wins so impressively, Larry Merchant said the words, "This is the fight that will shake off the Boxing world."
When Pac Koed Morales, Mechant said "He just Got Bigger!!"
And Now it looks like a DLH fight is almost a sure fight to happen. It will happen and this will be the Changing of the guard as the Money Man of Boxing. DLH's making the Top Dollar for years. After Pac retires him, Pac will be the one commanding this top Dollars.
We thought it was PBF who will be the Money man after DLH. BUt he ran out of Opponents he thinks he can beat. So his money stops there.
Assuming Pac beats DLH which is not easy but I believe Pac will win. Pac's next fight after that will be the top money maker in Boxing. Here's my projected PPV buys on Pac's remaining fights for Greatness.
Pac-DLH.... 2M PPV
Pac-Hatton....1.6M PPV(could be more if he KO DLH)
Pac-JMM......1.4M PPV(could be more if Pac KO Hatton)
Pac-PBF.....Will break all records. (Could be a trilogy) This will be like 2M X 3 PPV+MOre than 6M PPV buys.
If Pac still wants extra cash...
Pac vs Nate, Juan Diaz, Gamboa, Khan, or even Margarito(If he still on top which I doubt) is still a very Big Money Maker.
Your thoughts???

Re: Pac vd DLH will be another Changing of the Guard!!
If Hoya-PAC will finally push through on December 6, I think it will be a mega boxing event maybe about 2M PPV buys. People will pay PPV money to see this intriguing fight (there's a poll here about this matter, see link below).
http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...s-reality.html
I'm also predicting this fight as more exciting and entertaining than the previous Hoya-Mayweather fight.

If he beats DLH, which is improbable, people will say DLH is old and past his prime.
He will be killed by Hatton
He will be crushed by Margarito
It will be a manslaughter for Pretty Boy
End of Pacquiao's career, with lots of money but dead

Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Oscar Dela Hoya is keen on fighting the smaller Pacquiao?
Oscar said it's personal... He felt betrayed by PAC in the past when PAC signed with GBP first then switched to Top Rank.
-
Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
He doesn't want to get hurt.

Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
He'd be beating the number 1 P4P fighter in the world.
-
Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
p4p fighters keep getting smaller and smaller, gotta beat one sooner or later.
-
Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
Hoya wants to retire with a KO win in his last fight?
-
Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
I think ODLH should fight Yutaka Niida.

At least Pac is the top P4P fighter in the world who has a decent chance of pulling an upset.

I don't think anyone was serious
but...
Calderon is also a top fighter & if Oscar could loses a limb or 2 & get down to say 130-135 I'd give Calderon a decent chance of pulling an upset.

Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
In all seriousness, it kinda makes me sick with the power ODLH has, he is single handedly holding up the careers of two p4p fighters in Margarito and PAC with what he is doing. He should fight Winky Wright.

Now thats a great match-up & one that should happen. But it ain't going to generate anywhere near the sort of dough Oscar is looking for. Plus theres a high chance DLH loses & I'm sure that the Golden Boy wants to end his career with a win

Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
I could talk all day about why i can't stand DLH. There are reasons that him and this fight are good and bad for boxing.
Now with that said i can't wait to see this fight. How many times have we wonder how PAC would handle bigger guys. Who knows he might look great. If he does it could set up other good mathc ups. I how he knocks DHL block off.
Can somebody tell me what weight this is suppose to be at.

They will weigh-in at 147 lbs. with PAC not really required to reach 147 (at weigh-in). PAC could come at 140 to 142 at weigh-in and maybe come in at 147 to 149 on fight night. That's the plan of Team Pacquiao.
They also talked about same day weigh-in. Hmnn, this is interesting...
Also Hoya will be penalized $750,000 for every pound he comes in overweight (I guess, Hoya can afford to pay $1.5M penalty).

Same day weigh in is a good idea for this fight... for the entire sport for that matter!

Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
If PAC beats DLH then bring on PAC vs PBF. Then we can really see who is the best P4P fighter. I'm sure a PAC vs PBF fight should bring PBF out of retirement.

Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
Farce fight Imo......I can not see Delahoya coming in at 147 at this stage and being long term effective but maybe we are quick to infere previous lightweights Forbes moments with speed and crisp punches on Oscar can be duplicated three times over by Pac also coming up in weight.Just a name affair in hype up here Imo.
-
Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
Hoya does not probably want PAC to face Humberto Soto (another Mexican)... ;D
Arum said that if Hoya-PAC can't be made, he will arrange a fight between PAC and Soto on November 1 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas...
-
Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
I really don't see the point other than beating the No. 1 P4P there wouldn't be a title there at 147 or whatever they are going to weigh.

Giving the utmost respect to your post...
Manny will never command the money that Oscar commanded/commands. Pac is a name now and deserves it... He also deserves big money fights and is a force in the sport and should be respected but he will NEVER... I REPEAT... NEVER command the money that Oscar has...
PS. I am not a Delahoya fan.(respect he accomplishments but not a fan)

Re: Pac vd DLH will be another Changing of the Guard!!
I don't look at this as a "changing of the gaurd" Everyone wants to fight Oscar for one reason...$$$$$$$$
But boxing wise, Oscar hasn't had a signifigant victory in 6 years!!! I don't think he is relevant as a fighter anymore.
-
Re: Aside from MONEY, any more reason(s) why Hoya is keen on fighting PAC?
De la Hoya is cleary fighting Pac for the reason that Pac is the biggest name out of opponents Oscar thinks would cause him the least damage. If Cotto had destroyed Margo, Oscar would go back to his I can't fight a Puerto Pican becasue my wife is Puerto Rican.

Check your History!!!
When Pac beat Barrera, He becomes more Popular than barrera. When He KOes Morales, He becomes more Popular than Morales. Pac-JMM 2 holds the PPV records at 140 & Below. Isn't it DLH fought at that weight? After PaC BEATS DLH in an entertaining fight(No DLH-PBF sparring here) How popular you think Pac will be after that?? Do the Math???
DLH has only 3 -Million Buys PPV..., Bhop, Trinidad & PBF. This is his last fight. Where do you think all those regular DLH buyers go after Pac retires him in an entertaining fight??? Pac's potential fights after DLH like Hatton & JMM are definitely more entertaing than Bhops. Pac's never ran around the ring like DLH in the Trinidad fight. Pac-PBF is Guaranteed 2Million+ buys. Who don't want to see the 3rd fight between Pac & JMM?
If Pac wins against DLH, That will be a very Big achievement in Boxing History. That will be Amazing. Pac fights are very entertaining, now coupled it with his Amazing achievements, I'm sure his next fights after that will be a Big sell. It takes only a DLH fight to tell the world about Pac. Once all these Big audience saw Pac, they will want to see him again.

End of Pacquiao's career, with lots of money but dead
I think Pac could be Hatton. Just one weight class below where he fought comfortably. Pac could come in at 138 or so and be practically the same guy who fought David Diaz and that guy gives Hatton PROBLEMS.

Pac will dominate & KO Hatton. That's the easiest among the Pac's potential Superfight. No good Jab and No strong straight right is a No win against Pac. Hatton's Arms are too short(20") compared to Pac's 25". Pac will have a field day shooting hatton from the Outside.

That's one of the selling point of Pac. He' defeated already but he's beaten also many Legends. One more Pac's selling point is his amazing speed & Power. He's very entertaining.
Cotto's has his Power but he don't have that Amazing speed. He's still entertaining but I doubt he will be more Popular than Pac.
This is about Changing of the Guard as the #1 PPV attraction. Pac is the one Fighting DLH next. Cotto just lost badly & will hurt his Popularity. Pac has loses but that was long long time ago. His other loss to Morales was already avenged twice with an impressive KO. Before Cotto can avenge his loss to Margo(Which I doubt he can), Pac will be way up there reaping his Popularity. No way he can catch up with Pac.

Re: Pac vd DLH will be another Changing of the Guard!!
Pac's crossover appeal is in the Phillipines and deservedly so, but he has no cross over appeal in the US and the world over like Delahoya
Oscar is articulate, well dressed, charismatic, with movie star looks. People come to see his fights because he was exciting but it was also a good event like an A list celebrity. He was able to combine all of that to gain popularity with the hardcore boxing fan aswell as the casual fan who are enamored with names like Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, Leonard etc.
Pac is as exciting of a fighter as there have been, but thats about all his appeal amounts too compared to the conglomorent that encompasses Delahoyas popularity
