LMAO... What do you guys think about this matchup?
I think Ken Shamrock is selling out everything he once stood for, and getting ready to take a dive to an MMA novelty act all for a few extra bucks.
Kimbo by KO in the first.
FUCK Ken Shamrock for this.
The fight will sell. Cue lots of shit talking from Ken. No doubt he will beat Kimbo to a 'living death'
Kimbo will win but crikey. Ken is milkiing the sport for every last buck.
Ken is so washed up right now, Andy Wang could whup his ass. If i am wrong i will apologise whole heartedly.
Ken was once phenomenal. He's now a bit of a sideshow.
Then again...you never know!
Ken is done and dusted, although who knows, perhaps he is aiming for one last hurrah?
He is like Joe Calzaghe with picking old opponets that are now has beens.
Most people don't remember the great submission artist Ken Shamrock especially during his pancrase years. Unfortunately some one convinced Ken he was a great striker. The guy has good power and a great chin but his striking never really amounted to anything more than brawling. When he won it was usually b/c he was simply tougher than the other guy not b/c his superior skill. Its too bad. Had Ken stayed more true to his submission background I think he would have won more fights both in the middle and at the end of his career. If he took a submission mind set into the fight with Kimbo I'd give him 25% chance. The guy was awesome with knee/ankle locks and heel hooks. That being said he will try to trade blows with Kimbo and either get blasted or be so gassed by the 2nd round his corner will throw in the towel again.
ever since Ken's own brother frank said he was on roids, i have wondered about his talent as a fighter.he obviously can't coach himself, the last time i saw him win he beat fellow jucier kimo with a knee, and had erik paulson as his trianer...after that he dropped erik and well lost a lot...hmm. i can't believe elite xc would risk its rep on this kind of a match up.unless Ken and Kimbo come out with much improved games, it will mean little. also its about time kimbo started answering the questions about his ability...he needs some game fighters to beat not old dudes..hell if thats what they want i would meet the criteria and be willing to try him...lol
iceman, everyone knows kimbo isn't ready for the big time, even kimbo. he's a guy who started late in the game and is just enjoying the ride. but just because he isn't taking on fedor doesn't mean it can't be an interesting match. ken is done, kimbo will never get there, but they might just put on a good show.
Kimbo will beat Ken like he beat Adryan. Of course, if it were Ken a few years ago it'd be a different story. :-X
It would need to be Ken from 10+ years ago. I remeber watcing his fight against Fujita. Now Fujita doesn't have Kimbos technique or hand speed but he probably hits just as hard. Ken owned him till he gassed out and his corner threw in the towel. The reality is Ken's MMA prime was a very short period of time.
I dont know guys i actually think Ken can win... I predict Ken by submission.
Ken hasn't shown a willingness to try a sub in years...he thinks he still has the speed to go toe to toe and the chin...i disagree on only one point von, age has little to do with ability unless your speed is on the downswing.
two words Kimbo and Victory put them together :owned:
Kimbo is garbage and Ken will make him tap.
Ken is a washed up has been who has lost all his talent
Kimbo will do ken just like titio did ken
Big difference between the career paths of Kimbo and Lesnar.
Kimbo fights a washed up Shamrock.
Lesnar is fighting Randy.
Shamrock a All Time Great but past his prime, Kimbo by vicious Ko
set up
rather see don frye in shamrock place
maybe Kimbo learned a lesson in his last fight and will work the ground game more. I don't know if Brock Lesnar is doing better by fighting Randy, if he loses badly he may start questioning his fighting career. kimbo is moving up slowly and may progress ok.
Hahaha i was right ;D
OMG i cant believe kimbo FUKIN lost:o i didnt even like kimbo that much but still.
It's happened to better fighters then Kimbo. And this is what makes MMA so exciting. ANYTHING can happen.
That said I'd still like to see Kimbo fight Shamrock, but this fight if anything showed all the holes in his game he absolutely has to work on.
But preparing for a shoot fighter like Ken and then facing a Tae Kwon Do fighter, couldn't be more different the night and day. Made a rookie mistake of going for the fake up kick and left his jaw exposed.
But I wouldn't be surprised if they had a rematch.
Then again if kimbo won they would say he just beat a light heavyweight that got lucky.
He isnt ready for the likes of Randy OR even Lesnar for that matter
no, he's not ready for those guys, and likely never will be. he's too old. but with that said, i don't think that fight was indicative of his lack of skill or holes or whatever. Every guy to ever step into the octagon has been caught by a shot like that. 4 oz gloves will do that. they could fight 9 more times and kimbo could win every one. not WOULD win, but could.
fights like that are indicative of nothing. he got caught. big deal.
Nah Seth isn't a tae kwon do guy, his a karate fighter. He did a basic keep off mid kick to kimbos thigh and threw a jab right at kimbo's chin then down went kimbo. Seth just kept threwing punches to kimbos face til the ref stopped it. The fight showed how kimbo is still just a street fighter, a basic karate move stopped him dead in his track. Plus Seth is a lightweight, this is really a bad lost to kimbo. I do not think it hurt him mentally though. Kimbo will just get more motivated but hopefully not angry cause anger would not do him any good.
yea thats pretty true, he got caught end of. It happens but it does not always mean the fighter that got ko'ed could never beat the guy that ko'ed him. However the lost is not like Lesnars lost to Mir, that lost clearly showed Lesnars inexperience. Kimbo's lost showed his come forward attack that got him so popular needs to be improve. It isn't his lack of experience that got him ko'ed, it was what made him so popular that got him iced. Its interested what kimbo will do now, will he just continue to come forward and attack or will he really learn MMA. Just like how Brock Lesnar is really learning MMA.
I am leaning towards Brock, one who will have a longer and better MMA career. One of the Legends of MMA once said "you must evolve with the sport to last in it". I see Brock evolving more with the sport then KIMBO.
