Dissappoiinted with the way both guys have decided to come back. OK maybe Taylor needs one comeback fight before stepping in, but Kessler seems to be stepping back into his comfort zone of being an alphabet titlist. I rmember him being called out by Lacy after Joe broke his hand and he didn't take it, I also feel he only took on Joe cos he thought he'd slipped enough following average showings against Bika/ Manfredo.
I seriuosly hope i'm wrong about Kessler cos there are a number of fights there to be made for him at m/sm/lh but he ain't getting any younger, his time is now.
Kessler should have too much for Taylor imo
I thought the thread said Taylot v lacey at first - was gonna say that could be the most boring fight ever!
Ive never been particulary impressed by Taylor . He didnt win the title convincingly, he never looked good in any defences and then he had back to back defeats so I dont think he is this star people make him out to be . Kess on the other hand I am very impressed with . He has good power, good boxing brain / punch resistance. Plus he is the bigger man . I go with Kess
I think Taylor will be competative during the first 6 despite being clearly out boxed then Kessler will take over and beat him up maybe stop him late. Kessler puts his shots together very well and has footwork Taylor will not live with.
That fight needs to happen asap both guys have pissed me off with weak comeback fights.
I think Taylor would try to outquick Kessler and he'd have big success early outboxing and moving vs Kessler but I think Kessler catches him late and Taylor gases out late because that fits the mold of all his toughest fights.
I want Taylor to do well though, he's a good boxer who is seen in a poor light because people think he got gifts vs Hopkins and maybe that's the case but he's done very well vs guys like Pavlik whom he has been the toughest test for. JT still has a lot of fight left in him and I hope he fights soon
I think we all know what to expect from Taylor. He has fought top competition with mixed success and did very well in the second Pavlik fight. If he still has his head on straight, which he could as he no longer has that pressure of giant expectations placed on him, he could do very well as he is very gifted.
To me Kessler has the bigger question marks surrounding him right now. He stepped up to grade A once and did not seem to have an ability to adapt to it. Natural talent can get you far, but grit is very needed and he did not show enough of it in the Calzaghe fight. It was like he accepted defeat after a few rounds, went through the motions and fought only to make it to 12.
I think Calzaghe on the form he showed against Kessler would pimp slap all from 160-175 with relative ease.
I also think Kessler showed enough against Mundine, Beyer and Andrade to show he is elite.
Kessler didn't have a plan B and he got schooled big time....he took some good shots and kept coming but he didn't seem to bother or even frustrate Calzaghe, Joe was never worried.
Kessler is a good fighter but I think he's the typical stiff European style and one of these days he's really going to look silly in the ring, especially if he keeps getting fat off these sorry ass mandatories then steps it up and fights someone worth a damn.
Kess landed some shots here and there but Calzaghe had complete control of the fight.
...I feel like every post of yours should begin with "hello my name'a Borat"
Easy fight for Kessler. Taylor cant ko Kessler and Taylor does not have the skills to outsmart kessler. boring fight.
Kessler and his promotor did everything to AVOID fighting this German guy, but Haussler is mandatory - Dane Larsen and Dane Markussen already beat this guy.....
Denmark 5.5 inhb, Germany 80 inhb ;D

The Haussler fight I think is a mandatory but after he gets that done and dusted I expect him to go after a big fight. He needs to get going if he wants to be the dominate SMW he wants to be...
I'd like to see Taylor fight at SMW against a true SMW before I make my vote but for now I'll go for Kessler as I have seen him at the weight enough to know he is a class act and I wouldn't bet against him if he was to fight Calzaghe again. Not saying he would beat Joe now just that I think he's an intelligent enough guy to know where he went wrong last time and could well make the beneficial changes needed.
I think Kessler is just about a notch above Tsypko.
Taylor is world class by showing balls to climb back in the one of the best middleweights of recent times who knocked him out, yet still gave him fits for long spells.
Kessler meanwhile has a dudley record of opponents and took Joe the full 12 rounds...
...If Joe was knocking everyone cold then that would be some feat but the fact remains Joe has gone the distance about 8 or 9 times of his last 10 fights so that is hardly a mouth watering achievement.
I'd give the nod to Taylor to rack up the points. I'd also pick Hopkins to beat Kessler too. And Pavlik.
That may sit uneasily with the Kessler supporters, but he is far from the skilled, rounded boxer people make him out to be. He has a good jab and good power, but little else and he looks very open for the overhand right as he always always drops his left after throwing it (as Sartison proved in the early rounds when he shook him to the bone)
I must add i like Kessler, Im a big fan and like the guy too and hope he does get some big fights.
Taylor got knockout by one of the best middleweights of recent times?? Are we talking about Pavlik here? I think he needs to do a bit more than beat Taylor twice and C class Miranda before being branded one of the best middleweights or recent times.
Kessler a notch above Tsypko hahahahah, are you serious?? The same Tsypko who robbed average Brian Mcgee for the European title 5 years ago?? I think you need to do a little more research if you think Kessler is only a notch above Tsypko, try 5 million notches and you might be a little closer.
