It's a disrespect to Miranda, Klitschko and Pavlik to have them as undercard of a Pacquiao main event...

De La Hoya is putting Pacquiao in a coma. Luevano would out work Concepcion. Mares would dominate Penaolsa. And Gonzalez shatters Bumtista glass jaw.

Yep, Filipinos will be the underdogs... But I'm picking the Filipinos to win except Bautista... ;)

No way in hell Peñalosa will beat Abner Mares, Mares is a stud and will become a headliner that night dismantling Gerry . Bautista has a great chance because Jhonny has toughness issues, but then again I question Bautistas jaw. Steve Luevano vs. Bernabe Concepcion is a toss up but I favor Luevenos experience.

Re: Proposed DelaHoya vs. Pacquiao Fight Card
This would be a great card although I think the Filipinos would be underdogs at every turn. I agree that Luevano Concepcion would be the most competitive. The main event is obviously intriguiing but I'm dissapointed in DLH for taking it.

Re: Proposed DelaHoya vs. Pacquiao Fight Card
It would wanna be a good undercard because the main event goes 3 rounds!

Man, I miss Don King's fight cards. So far, I haven't seen ANYBODY top that.

Re: Proposed DelaHoya vs. Pacquiao Fight Card
My proposed fight card is slowly shaping up.... ;)
Peñalosa opts for undefeated Mexican in title defense
World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa has picked undefeated 22-year-old Mexican Abner Mares over Nestor Rocha for his next title defense.
The Mares showdown is a mandatory title defense. Peñalosa is hoping the fight can be on the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar de La Hoya undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 6.
Penalosa said that his manager, Billy Keane, called him and told him there were two offers on the table from Golden Boy Promotions.
The first offer stipulates that Peñalosa should defend his title against Rocha for a purse of $150,000, possibly on the undercard of the IBF/IBO welterweight title fight between Paul Malignaggi and Britain's Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton at the MGM Grand on November 22..
The second says the WBO champ should face No. 1 ranked Abner Mares (17-0, 10 KOs) also at the MGM Grand but on the megabuck Pacquiao-de la Hoya fight for a much bigger purse of $250,000.
Penalosa, the 36-year-old southpaw with a record of 53-6-2 with 36 knockouts, said his choice was Mares. “I am confident I can beat him.”

Re: Proposed DelaHoya vs. Pacquiao Fight Card
A local newspaper at Puerto Rico indicated that there were possibilities of having Juan Manuel Lopez (22-0, 20 KO), if he wins his first title defense on October 04 against César Figueroa (30-6-2, 22 KO). The name of this card if "The First Step".
I am not sure if this is a possibility, but it would be nice...

Addition of JuanMa to the December 6 Hoya-PAC fight card would be nice... only that it will not meet the general theme of Mexico (or Mexican-American) vs. Philippines fight card...
Maybe someday we can have a Puerto Rico vs. Philippines card and maybe headlined by Cotto vs. Pacquiao... ;D

Re: Proposed DelaHoya vs. Pacquiao Fight Card
So far this is what they're advertising now:
HBO PPV
Saturday, December 6 2008
MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada
Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao (junior middleweight)
Gerry Penalosa vs Abner Mares (bantamweight)
Rey Bautista vs TBA (super bantamweight)
I hope Bautista's TBA is Jhonny Gonzalez... or Bernabe Concepcion
There's also a possibility that Campbell vs. JMM will be added to this card...
Whoa!!! What a tremendous PPV card...

Bernabe Concepcion vs. JuanMa Lopez undercard of PAC-Hoya
.
link --> Juan Manuel Lopez-Bernabe Concepcion Likely, Says Arum - Boxing News
Lopez was originally scheduled to fight Sergio Manuel Medina who had lost a twelve round decision to current WBO No.1 ranked Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista on May 5 last year but it seems that Medina may have to step aside to make way for Concepcion if the deal is finalized.
The astute promoter said he believes it will be “a tough, tough fight for Concepcion but they seem to want the fight. They seem to figure that they can win. You can’t argue with anybody. They want the fight. We didn’t even offer it to them. They went after it.”

They seems to be close friends... ;)

Re: Bernabe Concepcion vs. JuanMa Lopez undercard of PAC-Hoya
concepcion's chin is gonna be tested big-time.juanma on the other hand should prepare for a 12-round war if this kid can take his punch(which i doubt,,or is unlikely..or unimaginable)..concepcion almost has to bring a 'margarito-liked chin' if he wants to atleast get past round3.if he does then this should be a fight.

Re: Bernabe Concepcion vs. JuanMa Lopez undercard of PAC-Hoya
JuanMa could be the next big thing in boxing. I don't think this will be another first round KO but i think he'll stop Concepcion.

we are all thinking of Conceptions family , our hearts go out to you all .:deadnew:

Re: Bernabe Concepcion vs. JuanMa Lopez undercard of PAC-Hoya
I like this fight more compared to JuanMa vs. Medina... Another Filipino (Concepcion) who is a heavy underdog...
-
Re: Bernabe Concepcion vs. JuanMa Lopez undercard of PAC-Hoya
This fight is going to be a great one. The two styles and workrate all add up to a don't blink edge of your seat fight. Juanaman will come out with a hard earned impressive victory.

Plus both are young (Concepcion-20 and JuanMa-25) explosive bombers... Should be a great fight...

Re: Bernabe Concepcion vs. JuanMa Lopez undercard of PAC-Hoya
Beforehand, this is in no way a joke. But a post from a while ago showed the potential undercard for the Pac vs Oscar event. Wasn't it supposed to be an all Filipino vs Mexican night where each Filipino was the underdog?
-
Re: Bernabe Concepcion vs. JuanMa Lopez undercard of PAC-Hoya
If this true, then it sure seems like they're throwing Concepion to the wolves. If his handlers think he has a real future as a champ, then they wouldn't throw him in with Lopez right now. They'd give him time to develop.

Yeah, you'd have to think so as it is... I honestly haven't seen Conceptiono so don't know what kind of a matchup this is..... As of now I feel sorry for anyone getting in the ring with Lopez, though I would love to see an upset.

Concepcion is 27-1-1 while JuanMa is 23-0-0. Concepcion has been around the world boxing in China, USA, Mexico and Philippines for almost 5 years now. He's been tested in many tough fights tho the quality of opposition favors JuanMa. He's the no. 3 contender to JuanMa's crown.
Concepcion is the underdog here but this is not a mismatch everybody is worried about. Concepcion rightfully earned this shot at JuanMa.
