Zab told espn he's going down to 140 and wants to fight Hatton.
it'll be funny if Zab lands another big fight, he's only a stepping stone at this stage
Let him. I actually wanna see him fight Hatton coz everyone on here thinks Zab would stop Ricky. So make the fight. Then when Ricky smashes him Zab is shot
Why are people crying out for the fight? Hatton has the likes of Pacquaio and Diaz should he beat Paulie.
Zab would probably give Hatton a shit load of problem.....for a bit. The Hatton would most likely smash him to bits. I think Judah's arse would go to be honest.
There's no reason for Hatton to take this fight. Too much risk and zero reward. Judah would stop him IMO. Hatton has historically had problems with southpaws, his chin at this point has questions surrounding it, Judah has speed, power, and is a great counter-puncher; he'd time Hatton with those uppercuts all day.
I think Hatton is the better fighter, but styles make fights /cliche
Lee Zab Judah would give Ricky Hatton alot of problems Ricky Hatton has had bad problems with Southpaws ever since he was an Amateur and i think Zab Judah's power would be more of a factor at 140 and so would his speed its not of the question to think Zab Judah could win infact i would have the fight 50/50 depending on how Zab Judah makes the weight.
Zab's always a tricky one. First off, he doesn't deserve to fight Hatton. Ricky lost to the p4p best and rebounded with a win. Zab's only been able to beat up nobodies in the past few years.
But Zab would be competitive in at least the first 3rd of the fight. Then it would depend on how often Ricky could get to him and how often. Zab made it very hard for Cotto and Ricky is nowhere on Cotto's level. Zab was still fighting back against Clottey, but that guy is top ten greatest in the chin department. Ricky's got huge chinks in the armor and I could see a Zab uppercut giving him visions of turnbuckles dancing in his head. Zab's body looked different against Clottey, obviously he has the ability to refocus in the training department- I don't think Judah will struggle too much making 140. He had killer power at 147 and we all have seen what a welterweight can do to Hatton.
Once again, this all depends on which Zab Judah decides to show up. If the guy who stepped in against Clottey comes in against Hatton, it's over in 7. Hatton will try to smother him and get a mouthful of fist up to the elbow. And Mayweather Sr. can only retool so much. Ricky can become a little better defensively but even that would work against him. Ricky's best defense is staying in your face and throwing. Changing that against an elite-type fighter is dangerous.
Zab should move down. LWW is his natural weight, anyway. At 140, Zab can grab a belt an make some noise, at 147 he's just a stepping stone.
Judah was at 143 for Clottey.
Judah could unify the division at 140. If you don't believe me, ask Sal.
Personally I would love to see this fight. I know everyone want Hatton/PAC or Hatton/Diaz. And those would also be great fights. But people forget How good Judah was at 140. Whenever you bring up Judah at 140 though, people only remember the Judah dance courtesy of Kostya Tszyu. But Judah was amazing at 140 speed, power, slickness and absolutely the arch-nemisis of Hatton's style.
This would be a great fight and I would gladly fork over PPV dollars to see it.
Zab would have a very good chance of beating Hatton. If Ricky beats Paulie, decides to stay at 140, and can't get a fight with Pacquiao, then I'd like to see him fight Zab more than the other 140 pounders out there.
Also, if Paulie upsets Hatton, a Paulie vs. Zab fight would be interesting. Both guys are from Brooklyn, would be a good fight in either NYC or Atlantic City.
I would pick Judah for this his power and being southpaw would come through Hatton would be coming forward more than likely leading with his face and he walk on shot after shot Judah inside 8 rounds;)
Zab at 140 was world class but he can't expect to just get handed a fight with Hatton straight away. He needs to beat a couple of good opponents such as Witter (again) and Bradley then get his shot at the MAN when he has built his career back up. If he can return to the quality he was before Tszyu KO'd him I see it being a hard fight to call but at the moment I only see Hatton winning, that is until Zab shows me something that might change my mind.
Zabs best weight is 140 no doubt.
If he goes down to fight Hatton, he will do a better job than mayweather, early KO for my man Zab.
Mayweather's style of being defence first was the reason Hatton lasted that long. Zab has wicked power, great punches at times and demon speed. Few power shots to a very open Hatton and ricky goes night night hopefully once and for all.
Box that midget zab!! haha
Zab would def beat Hatton! he put up a good fight against 160 Clottey at whilst weighing 143 imagine him in the ring with Hatton! He would definitely be able to take his shots and hits hard enough to stop Hatton. plus he is southpaw and fast! Hatton couldn't choose a worse fight.
Hatton for the Tszyu fight, was at his most hungry, dangerous and limitless stamina wise, that was the fight he needed for big money. Since then he has let himself go, Judah would probably win these days.
The hatton that fought Tszyu looked like he could walk through a train and just keep coming. He was not going to lose that night againsed anyone. The hunger and fear he had going into that fight gave him that extra ooomph, thats gone now. It's been gone ever since in my opinion.
Bradley would be a good fight for Zab. It would probably be a good fight for both guys. Bradley wouldn't lose too much in a loss. He's still young it would would be learning experience. If he pulled it off, he would be a lot of credit. If Zab beat Bradley and picked up that belt, he would renew his credibility and set a big fight with Hatton or Paulie.
I don't think he needs to bother with Witter's sorry ass.
Honestly I don't think Judah would have to do much more than win a small fight at 140 to get a HBO fight with Hatton. The division is pretty weak and the networks love Judah for some reason.
ive always thought that zabs one of the most gifted boxers the sport has seen in recent times with his speed and footwork and hattons brilliant at putting on pressure. it would be a a great fight even at this stage in their careers. id pick ricky to win.
ZAB DESERVES NO MORE BIG MONEY FIGHTS TIL HE STARTS TURNING "W"S AGAIN AGAINST WORLD CLASS!
HE GAVE UP AGAINST CLOTTEY!!!!
END OF STORY!!!
This attitude is why the best do not want to fight the best in boxing!!! Zab is competitive with everyone he fights and has a good record! the top guys in MMA/ UFC have tons of losses you don't hear fans saying Lidell should not get another big fight though!
No, it's bullshit... The best he looked in years was against Cotto. He has had more chances then any fighter at the top tier that I can think of.
You don't think there are other guys out there that deserve a shot then Jab being retread and recycled...
Stop it with the Zab sob story...
The Mayweather maylay and the quitting against Clottey not to mension throwing chairs and threatening refs...
Go back to throwing dice on youtube.
He's a disgrace and sadly one of the biggest wastes of talent out there...
Zab could have been a unified champ...
Let's keep giving him more chances to fail and another few to make a mochary of the sport
Screw Judah!
Zab needs to earn it first, otherwise Hatton would get no credit. No way Hatton takes this fight with such a risk-reward factor. I feel stylistically it would match up well and be entertaining.
Lefty we all saw the fight........ you can't credit anyone for that ass beating except PBF.
You dead right on that. He doesn't deserve to go straight into a Hatton fight, but as a former undisputed WW champ and 140 beltholder, he has the right to drop down and immediately fight a contender/soup belt holder to re-establish his position in the division. It's not like he's lost to bums. He lost to a much bigger Josh Clottey, a much better Miguel Cotto, and an all-time great in PBF. LWW is a thin division and one fight against Bradley, Holt, or Kotelnik wouldn't be out of line. Does he need to go out and beat Juan Urango or Randall Bailey to set himself up for shot at Tim Bradley? I think Jab vs Holt/Bradley/Kotelnik would be a fine BAD card, and if he wins, he'll be in a position for decent fight. If he loses, we'll know he's pretty much done.
All I Can Say Its About Time, Zab Has Not Done Anything Good At 147 After He Beat Cory Spinks Which Wasnt A Hard Thing To Do
But To Fight Hatton The Dude Really Needs To Have His Confidence Back And Learn How To Fight To The Distance.......im A Fan Of Judah Cause Of His Hype Hes Got One Big Fight Left In Him Hebetter Make It Good Otherwise He Better Find A New Job.
