American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Yet another so called US (fighter) has pulled out at the last minute leaving Haye's upcoming fight in limbo...
"The reason he didn't get on the flight, in his words, is 'I'm not coming to England to get knocked out'," said Booth of Chapman.........:lolhaha:
This fella Chapman needs a heart transplant, and he has the cheek to call himself a top ten fighter?
F*cking DISGRACE to the sport!

Haye must be so pissed off with this shit.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
At this rate he is going to end up fighting a bum
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
It's Haye's fault he don't have a fight.
He had Kevin Johnson and Haye pulled out of the fight.
now he is back to square one.

So what can he do about a guy pulling out at short notice? Whether he promotes the fight or not?

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
How about Haye keeps his yap shut until the contracts are signed? And apparently Kevin Johnson is aching to fight him.

He's been beginning to look stupid. Johnson AND Chapman can't have both 'pulled out' of the same fight, was he planning a three way match up.
Reading betwwen the lines they were considering Johnson, then Chapman turned up cheaper so they dropped kevin only for this Chapman fella (with a remarkebly similar record to Tye Fields who Haye has repeatedly ridiculed as well as Baretts W over him) to pull out.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
What is Haye doing fighting J.D. Chapman anyway
Isn't Chapman promoted by the same guy who promoted the Baller-Kid Thunder fight? ;D
Seriously.
I like Haye and part of its cause he's willing to fight good opponents but J.D. Chapman? Johnson might have been a bit too much for the first fight but J.D. Chapman?

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
I just hope Hayes fights somebody worthwhile. The division needs some new faces.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Haye needs to STFU about people backing out until he has a contract signed. How do I know there was no contract? Because there is no law-suit.
There are plenty of heavyweights for him to fight. But let's be honest he needs to be less picky right now, take a damn fight get the contract signed and move on. At this point he's got a date of 11/15/08 (15/11/08 for those of you outside the US) Which leaves 8 weeks for a training camp if the fight was made today. Now take away from that at least 1 week for negotiations, that leaves a 7 week training camp. Now take 1 week at the end to fly to the UK (assuming this is a US fighter) to get used to the time change, and get rid of jet lag, that leaves a 6 week training camp. Of course the training camp will need to be set-up sparring partners brought in that could another week.
So he is asking for someone to play in his backyard, for relatively little money, with an abbreviated training camp. Not sure many RANKED fighters would go for that.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Chapman is not American.....He's from Arkansas :bucktooth: ;D
Seriously though,Haye should just shut his pie hole and get in the ring.Enough fluff and celebra-drama already.Talking loud.......saying nothing.

This has the potential to turn into a total farce. If it goes another week and he still doesn't have somebody signed to fight him this could get downright funny. :)

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
I ain't buying it.
He's looking for an easy fight so he's trying to fluff it up that he couldn't find a legitimate contender. It's cheap drama, but it's garbage. Finding an opponent isn't hard if your offering decent money. Trying to stack the deck and get someone to sacrifice every advantage to you for cheap and still be a legit contender is real hard. That's the struggle, but he's making out to be a fear thing. Don't believe the hype.
Danny,
I got a video request......Don't believe the hype featuring the haye maker.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Hayes needs to stop promoting himself and get a promoter to do it for him. I know warren is pure scum, but hayes could sign a 3 fight deal with him and get a named fighter. I'm surprised he hasn't sought out hasim rahman. I know he's still quite dangerous, though surely not as dangerous as klitschko, who he wants to fight anytime anywhere.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
I honestly think the man he should have stayed with is Frank Maloney (Lennox's old manager)
Must have untold connections in the US after being with lewis through his heyday and it baffles me why Haye never stayed with him:o
Purely a money thing i'm guessing but i honestly think in the Heavyweight division Maloney would have served him well and i don't recall Lennox ever having a bad word to say about Maloney in the past.

Here we go smashup, you could get a nice little earner here.
Johnson is promising %10 of any purse he gets from a Haye bout to whoever can persuade David to bite the bullet;D

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Someone is LYING in all this and i'm starting to seriously doubt Adam Booths promoting skills:-\
Is he well out of his depth here? How can 3/4 different fighters simply "pull out"? Did he have 4 contracts drawn up with 4 fighters?
This can't be good preparation for Haye who is due to fight in 6 weeks.

I think you might be right, something definitely does not add up regarding all these guys pulling out.
Maybe they will say to Wlad "everyone is scared to fight me, are you?" or something along those lines.
If the money is right, Haye would have a fight. There must be something putting them off, If I was 6 foot 6 and 18 stone I'd tackle Haye anyday of the week.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
One thing that interest me about the Promotion is how many people turn up. Haye isnt a Big ticket seller. He struggles to fill York Hall 1400 people. Its going to be interesting trying to fill the O2, 20,000, we will see ;D.
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Its an odd one for sure. Haye should have loads of fans. exciting, looks the part, can talk the talk ???
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
He hasnt been promoted very well, not many people really know who he is.
Adam Booth is a dick head, he cant train David very well and he doesnt help to promote him very well.
Ha ha, off topic but the new pussycat dolls song has come on
"I wanna have boobies"
;D

He filled the York hall with ease and they were queing round the block when he beat Fragomenni mate..i was there and the O2 was rammed out too...
Enzo v Haye
"The majority of the 18,000 seats in the Arena had long been snapped up by the public despite the early-hours start time, for a fight which was ambitiously billed the biggest in Britain since Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank squared off in 1993."
trust me david has a HUGE following in London and don't forget the O2 is literally down the round from Bermondsey where he lives;)

I know that Smash, Ill be interested to see what occurs ;D

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Really it's such a joke. The main problem with getting an opponent is fear? People lined up for Tyson who really did have the fear factor, but David Haye has yet to strike anyone in this division, let alone strike fear throughout it. It's a stupid promotional stunt. The sad thing is most people will buy it. It's been the headline enough that it sticks out in the average fans mind.
Everyone is afraid of David Haye except Ray Mercer, so we have to fight him even though he's 47 and lost all his recent fights.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
American Heavyweights are piss poor and have been for a while. Protected records and then they lose meekly. Great Shame.
Who will fight Haye - it doesn't matter - they are getting KTFO.
Holyfield had one or 2 easy fights when he stepped upto Heavy and Haye probably will aswell - cos people apart from old fogies looking for a last payday won't fight him.
Herbie Hide is an option if they need a name.

Alright then let's make a list of NON-American heavyweights that don't have padded records, and I'm talking current fighters.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
can u imagine haye vs hide the prematch hype would be awesome
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Chapman?!?!?! Are you FUCKING kidding me?!?!?! Do you think JD Chapman is a worthy opponent? David Haye is supposed to be a title contender already and he's going to test his metal vs a guy who's last fight was vs Rich Boruff?!?!?!
If Haye fights Chapman then he's going to be as big of a joke as Amir Kahn
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
This is getting daft
Haye is a big draw and apart from a tittle shot has to be one of the biggest pay-days out there for fringe contenders not to mention more TV coverage than most could hope for.
This is a dream scenario for any promoter How the fuck can you not have signed a top 10 HW and have a solid backup in 10 f**king months
Bring back Maloney
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Should have stayed with him agreed;)
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
Do you think if Maloney was to promote Haye
He would pull the old union jack suit out ;D
he would have to update it with the Turkish republic of Cyprus flag or whatever Haye wears on this shorts now
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
hahaha class whistle that:cool:
I think people should get off Hayes back a bit really and judge him after he's actually fought;)
Already the hate brigade has come out the woodwork (Prob still bitter that we had the best Heavyweight of recent times in Lennox or maybe the thread title upsets them) and can't wait for Haye to fall at the fist hurdle....
I can see it now..."told ya so etc"
Let's let him fight a few eh people then we can judge him :)

The reason everyone is pissed off is because he is so transparent, bullshitting about how all these fighters are scared of him and trying to get a straight shot at Klitschko because he thinks he can blitz him like Sanders did but he dont want to risk his chin against any other worthwhile heavys.
Getting a straight shot aint so bad but its all the other bullshit, you can see straight through him that hes the one4 whos scared to face any decent heavys in case he falls flat.
Like someone has already said, hes had since the Macaranelli fight to sort an opponent but he didnt want to give any decent fighters that much notice to get ready and now hes doing it the cheap way by trying to get them on relatively short notice, he will end up with Sprott or Skelton, maybe even Williams, which in it self wouldnt be a bad start at heavy but not when youve gobbed off about a top contender from the top 10, that just aint gonna happen and thats where the annoyance comes from.

Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
The facts are that Setanta demanded a top ten Heavy to satisfy the viewers and as part of the 6 fight deal;)
I don't think Haye's transparent at all and don't forget he went to Mormecks back yard and battered him which is something special imo.
I don't think you can really blame him for this circus but he's hoodwinked you into talking about him and that is exactly the way he operates.
He knows exactly how to play the media and is doing a fine job of drumming up interest.
We haven't chatted about the Heavyweights in any real depth since Lennox was king simply because no-one gave a f*ck about a sh*t division.
Haye has brought it back to life without throwing a punch.
I think Mr Booth has bitten off more than he can chew and his inexperience is showing.
Should have maybe kept Maloney as an advisor while finding his feet but these descisions are made and shared with Goldenboy promotions too (They bankroll Haye ultimately) so some of the blame must lie with them too.:)
-
Re: American Heavyweights running scared of David Haye
We arent talking about the heavy weight division though, we arent even talking about a ranked heavyweight fighter.
Over the past week, look at all the comments about Haye and they are basicly all pissed off with him or laughing at him, hes lost a lot of credibility with opening his mouth yet again, if hed have kept quiet no one would be berating him.

So it's us and not Haye who's announced twice that he's had an opponent all but lined up and then bubkis? What exactly is it we should be 'backing off' about? We're all waiting for him to announce his top 10 opponent and he's the one who seemingly can't make it materialize. We've only been holding Haye to the standard he has set. He wants to fight Klitschko- don't you think he should take on a credible foe to prove he's ready as opposed to just leapfrogging every guy who was in line first? If you want to call annoying people energizing the division then my wife must have been 'energizing' me this morning to take out the garbage. And the HW division isn't as shitty as you're making it out to be. Sure, it's nowhere near its glory days, but still a lot deeper than the Cruisers where Haye made his bones and don't toot your horn over Haye beating Mormeck in France. Big deal- notice Mormeck just retired at 36 years of age. It's because even he knows he's garbage. They had to cheat like hell to hand him the win over O'Neill Bell (sweltering hot arena, premature bell ringing, etc.).
