How bout them COWBOYS!!.... Country boy you are dead wrong, Pavlik doesn't knock out, even knock down B-Hop in a million trillion years son. That video is a young hopkins, as he got older he depended more and more on his crafty defense. Taylor survive the second fight with Pavlik, and his defense is not as great as Bernards. I agree with ICB up there, and by the way you should check out the second fight where Mercado was TKO'd :D

first to hell with them cowboys let see them win a playoff game and then we see whats up. but pavlik has a good chance to ko hopkins even if hopkins has a good chin. bhop got real tired with calzaghe and if he gets tired with pavlik in the ring we might as well throw hopkins a retirement party remember he cant defend himself if he gets too tired and you better believe pavlik is gonna make him work way more than joe did.;D

I see nothing in Kelly Pavlik that makes me believe he's going to knock Bernard Hopkins.
BHop is up there with James Toney as one of those fighters you can't even conceive of getting knocked out.
Pavlik is a decent fighter, but he's no all time great and it would take one hell of a fighter to knock out Hopkins, even a 43 year old one.
Pavlik will probably win on points but I fancy Hopkins more in this fight than I did with Calzaghe.
I'll put money and say if anyone gets knocked out in this fight (I don't either will though) it will be Kelly Pavlik.

Looking forward to seeing how Pavlik handles this fight - I don't think Hopkins gets KO'd as he has enough ringcraft to see him over the finishing line. Even so, Pavlik should win on workrate as Hopkins will gas out in the second half of the fight and not throw enough punches.

Personally, I don't think Pavlik will knock Bhop out. I think bhop showed that even as a shot fighter, he is crafty and intelligent.
But...as the post posits...what if Pavlik does knock out Bhop? Will it completely legitimize him in the eyes of fans? He will be doing something Calzaghe, Winkie, Taylor, ODLH, Trinidad, the list goes on, could not do. Granted, Bhop is 43 now, but knocking out Bhop is a great feat. Even more special since Calzaghe was only able to eek out a win against Bhop. Whatever you want to say, in terms of skill-level, Bhop can't be too different than he was against Calzaghe.
Either way, if Pavlik beats Bhop and Abraham beats Marquez, not only do we have a fight for all the chips, but potentially we have an all-time great middleweight matchup. I'll fly to Vegas for that one. Bet your money on it.

Bernard Hopkins did look somewhat close to getting stopped against Mercado on the first knockdown, he was seriously shaken up. Even James Toney looked somewhat close to getting stopped against Reggie Johnson, when he got put down heavily on a overhand left.
But i understand your point and i do agree i just thought, id throw them two examples in there though.

No they didn't thats BS many people thought it would go the distance, very few people on any boxing forum i see, thought Marquez would be able to stop Casamayor. In fact more people thought Casamayor had a better chance at Koing Marquez.

You talk about styles, well Hopkins style is a defensive counter punching style which he now uses due to his age. If you don't like his style then don't watch his fights.

yes hopkins is indeed boring but i still watch him depending on who his opponent is. the only fight i pretty much didnt watch was the calzaghe, because i seen joe fight before and i wasnt impressed at all with the slapping.

Whilst I agree, guys like Toney, Hopkins, Mayweather,Wright, Delahoya and Mosley dont get knocked out, but I will say any time Pavlik fights there is a good chance his opponent will get Ko'd or duffed up
Hopkins is great at keeping his chinned tucked when throwing punches as well as making you fight at his distance, no doubt he will no allow Kelly to many opportunities to extend his arms and get good leverage on his shots. I cant really see clear the ending in my mind but if anything I see Pavlik just simple out working Hopkins down the stretch

I think Hopkins beats Pavlik....possibly by Tko :peeker:.Just think he will walk into something while fully concentrated on massive offense.This is the last chance for Hopkins and I think he will bring every last bit of experience together and take Pavlik deep..........Imo ;D
