Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?
I know POB watches it, because we've discussed it just a little bit, but I wondered who else is watching it, and what do you think of it?
I think it's pretty freaky, kinky, bloody, violent, and at times funny.
I love it!
I even love the theme song, and the opening graphics. ;D
They've only shown 3 episodes so far, but I read one review, that says that it really starts to kick in about the 5th episode, so damn, I can't for more.
Anyone else?

Re: Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?

It's the first one. The adult drama-horror.
Great stuff.
Kind of reminds me of the movie Perfect Creature.

Sounded interesting. Heard from somebody who has generally good taste in movies/tv shows who didn't like it. Still planning on watching it at some point.

OMG, it is soooo not campy childs fun like Buffy!!!
To add to what Trainer Monkey said, the vampire population has come out of the coffin, and are trying to get their equal rights, and now live amongst the humans. The vampires no longer have to feed on human blood, because a synthetic blood was made that they can drink to survive, but of course there are those who would rather have the human blood.
Go here, and you can see a quick video synopsis of each episode, and it should give you a good idea.
HBO: True Blood

You should definitely try checking it out, it's a great show.
BTW a new episode premieres every Sunday night.

Re: Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?
I need to start watching this; as I love the whole vampire thing. I live like one too so it should be right up my alley:p
Hey Bilbo, as a sidenote, if you like vampire type stuff read Brian Lumley's Wamphyri series. Lumley was an English author and imo has written the premiere books on the blood suckers.
R.I.P. Lumley

I'm not really into horror novels. Werewolves are my fave horror characters although 90% of werewolf movies are awful.
Still American Werewolf in London is possibly the greatest horror of all time, and I loved Dog Soldiers. The Ginger Snaps films wern't bad either.
I'll grab the first episode of this sounds interesting, although generally I'm not keen on vampire movies. I couldn't stand Buffy and Angel, I had to turn off 30 Days of Night half way through as I felt like slitting my own throat and the dracula films never did anything for me at all either.
But if people think it's good it might well be so I'll grab the first episode and see what it's like.
I need a good series to keep me entertained until Lost comes back.

I actually loved 30 days of Night; though I thought the way they made the vampires appear was rather silly. The way they communicated and those shark eyes was well done, but the goofy tattoos on them and not very frightening countenance of them actually made the movie less than stellar.
I don't watch vampire movies and certainly never even attempted to watch Buffy:rolleyes: But the series by Lumley is awesome, imo anyways.
And if I want to see werewolves I'll watch Valuev's family reunion on youtube.

I am a werewolf man myself. Spoon from Dog Soldiers is on of my favorite movie characters. I thought there was supposed to be a sequel coming out?! I heard that about 4 years ago.
I do like vampire movies though and thought Hammer's Horror Of Dracula was much better than Universal's Dracula.

Yeah, I thought 30 Days was an ass kicker right up until the part where he saved the girl instead of getting the heck out of there.
I got it! I'll turn myself into a vampire and then watch the sunrise with my ex! Bullshit.

I thought it was both a good and stupid ending; good because I wasn't expecting it so that's cool; but stupid because he shoud have hid somewhere instead of frying in the sun.
I would have been owning some sh#t had that been me; and made my girl an immortal hottie:cool:;D I'd love to be a vampire; as much as Bilbo would love to be a man.:LOLATYOU:

Re: Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?
Okay, for anyone that hasn't seen it, and wants to check it out, if you have HBO2, on Sunday starting at 4:00 pm ET (check your schedule for your time zone) they are showing the first 3 episodes in a row, and then the new 4th episode will premiere at 9:00 pm ET on regular HBO.
If you don't get HBO2, you can at least see episode 3 on regular HBO late tonight at 2:25 am ET.
Just thought I would give you guys the heads up. ;)

ha I loved Spoon myself, my fave bit with him was when they looking to arm up and he pulled out that fucking great sword with a smile on his lips.
A complete psycho who when he was finally about to get eaten said to the werewolf ' I hope I give you the shits you fucking wimp!'
And I loved it when he ran out of ammo and was just throwing pots and pans and the werewolf, hilarious stuff.
Awesome film I must have seen it 5 times.

Re: Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?
I was on tv-mafia.com downloading all my favorites and actually saw that and had a quick read about it on a review site.. a lot of my favorite shows i've found on the net and not on Aussie tv, so that's cool someone started a thread about this one which i've been considering downloading... Will definetly go ahead now.. I saw some bad reviews, but i've learnt that the task of of "professional reviewing" usually requires you to jam a stick up your ass first before assessing anything.. I on the other hand love mind numbing entertainment & stimulation regardless of what stiffies think..

I've grabbed the first 3 episodes not watched it yet though.
Like you I NEVER watch English tv. The only way I learn of any programs is via the internet.
I watch, Lost, My Name is Earl, Monster Quest, Man vs Wild and boxing and a few films all of which I download.
I watch nothing else and my tv in the lounge only gets turned on when I'm rowing, so for about 2 hours a week :p

Tonights episode was pretty good.
I was laughing so hard with Jason and his erection problem!
I looks like an eggplant! :lolhaha:
Legion, we found an alternative to you having to take Cialis. ;) ;D
Okay, was Sam getting off in Dawn's sheets because of the scent of her, or the scent of death?

Re: Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?
Watched the first episode tonight, must admit I liked it, rather stupid but it is good fun.
I loved the start with the redneck in the shop that the chav says 'Fuck you!' to.
When he replied, 'Oh yeah, I'll fuck ya, and then I'll eat ya' whilst bearing his fangs I felt then it was going to be a good show.
I'm hoping Suki gets naked soon, I want to see her get really freaky with a couple vampires at the same time, maybe two males and another female vampire would be good.
-
Re: Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?
Just keep watching Bilbo, it get's better.
You'll see plenty of sex.
Will you see Suki, getting some nookie, well you'll just have to keep watching. ;)

Believe me I will. Ideally I'd like to see a vampire shoot some jizzum into that gap between her teeth but I'm not sure American tv bosses are as progressive as that, still being stuck in the moralistic dark ages.

Have you ever downloaded any Deadwood? I think you'd love that show and is as 'progressive' as i've seen from any television show....
My download limit is getting shot to shit this month with about 8 of my favourite shows coming back.. I'm going to struggle to add True Blood to the weekly download roster, but it sounds fun.... If I have to, i'll drop my girlfriends weekly Gossip Girl download.. :-\ Hey, I like to live dangerously..

What's with having a download limit, just go to an isp who doesn't have one.
I've been banned 5 times by companies now, BT, Eclipse, AOL (twice), Onetel. I just get a mac code and move on, downtime rarely for more than 24 hours.
Now I'm with Tiscali who have a cap between 6pm and 11pm but let me download as much I want outside those hours.
AOL told me I averaged around 600 gb downloaded per month, quite a bit over their 40 gb monthly limit ;D

I loved Dog Soliders aswell Bilbo good old British humour along with alot of gore. Some of my favorite lines in it are.
When the guy is just about to be eaten by the werewolf, and he says = "I hope i give you the shits, you fucking wimp."
Or how about what the Sergeant says = " If little red riding hood should show up, with a bazooka and a bad attitude. I except you to chin the bitch."
Classic ;D

Australia is a TOTAL TOTAL SCAM!!! I have searched all the ISP's and scanned the forums, and it is well known that there isn't any company in Australia that does true unlimited downloads... They ALL have some sort of cap. The highest is about 100gig which is one of the real crappy ISP's..
They are usually between 60gig and 25gig...
When you reach your limit, it either 1)Slows litereally to about 8kbps which is worse than my 1995 modem speed.. (in 2008 that is a fucken scam). or 2)They charge you something like 25cents per meg download after you reach your limit.. Which is even fucking worse!! $1 for 4 meg.. This is where people have gotten bills for like, $5000 and had to dispute them...
So my plan is actually within probably the top 5 or 10 plans in Australia for value/speed/limit, and it's 25gb per month, to slow once I read the limit and I pay $100Aus per month which is about 35 to 40 pounds I think...
The one next deal up from mine costs $150 and goes up to 60gig per month, but then starts charging you at some incredible rate, and I can't risk going over that, so i've opted for the slow connection option which is basicially equal to no connection at all... I can forget downloading.. Only browsing and forums at that speed...
I'll repeat, Australia is such a scam.
In America and England, the idea of competition is to put out deals better than your opponents to win over/keep customers.
In Australia, the idea of competition is to all plan together the best possible ways to get the most money out of customers for the least goods/service back... No company is prepared to break free from the pack and offer a really decent package...
So i'm stuck paying $100 a month for a max 25 gig... It is a total scam. The companies have the ability to put a decent package together. Especially the big companies which i'm with. But they have no need to because the competition isn't doing it, and they are making all the money they need right now only offering these useless packages...
This is another thing that is convincing me slowly to move to another country.

That is shit. My provider Tiscali cost £14.99 a month for 8 mb download speed with no monthly limit at all. The way it works is you have a 40 gb limit between the hours of 6pm and 11pm, the peak hours. So you're basically asked not to fileshare during those hours.
Outside of that though I can download as much as I like. I routinely download around 500 gb a month, I just don't do it during the evening and they are cool witht that.

Re: Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?
Ok I've watched the first 3 episodes of this now and have a few hunches.
Does anyone else think that the barman (Sam?) is the dog in the courtyard?
The dog turns up every time Suki is in trouble, Sam is said to bark in his sleep, and he has a creepy picture in his office.
He's also said to Suki she can read his thoughts if she wants, which makes me believe she wouldn't be able to because he's not human.
Could he be a werewolf or some kind of shapeshifter?
Great show though, really enjoying it so far, and am hoping the twist is he is some kind of evil werewolf.
Any thoughts?

Sam's not the dog, remember he tossed a ball for the dog to go fetch. Oh wait, that might have been in the 4th episode that you haven't seen yet.
I didn't notice the picture in his office though, I'll have to look for that.
But the barking in his sleep was odd.
If I remember right, I think Suki has already read Sam's mind once.
I'm glad you're enjoying it Bilbo, it's a great show. Have you looked for the 4th episode yet? It premiered Sunday night, so you might be able to find it now. I can't wait to hear what you have to say about this episode. ;)

I've not see the fourth episode, just watching the first 3 tonight. I think the show is great, I usually hate vampire stuff but this one is good because it focuses less on the nonsense and more on the real world relations.
Plus I like how its the first vampire flick to realistically potray how humans would respond to them, i.e half of them would treat them as the spawn of Satan and want them destroyed, whilst the other half would want to fuck them.
I've just watched the first episode again now and I'm sure Terra is a different actress in the first episdoe. I notice my episode 1 is labelled Screener so am downloading another version now in case there is another version out there. My first ep also has some writing that says 'Missing Scene 29' or something so maybe I've got a prerelease ep 1 that is missing a bit.
Back to Sam, there is definitely more to him than meets the eye. In the first episode when Suki meets the vampire and says she was suprised nobody else knew he was a vampire, he looked at Sam and said 'He Does.'
When we first see the dog and Suke tells Bill that she thinks he lives nearby he says 'No doubt.......' as if he knows something.
The fact it was mentioned that Sam barks in his sleep and that Bill seems to have some kind of wariness to him makes me think he's not human. He's definitely a werewolf, or shapeshifter or can talk to animals or something imo.
Also in the first episode who was the girl who was watching Suki when she had that chain and was about to hit that guy draining the blood from Bill?
I initially thought it was Terra but she clearly had some magic power because she swung the chain around his neck and tied it before running off?
I'm going to rewatch the second ep now and try and work out some more.
Really cool series though, and I love the title music at the start
Cheers for the heads up on it ;)

Re: Is anyone watching True Blood on HBO?
OK, so I came home from work on Saturday and was flipping on the DVR to catch Mosley-Mayorga and True Blood was on. There was like some white guy and a black guy and the white guy had a mask on and the black guy was video taping him jacking off or something. I caught about 30 seconds of it before I finally got to the DVR menu but knowing that, I don't think there's anyway I can watch that show. Not that it isn't a good show, but having seen that I just can't give it a second chance.
Unless that wasn't True Blood in which case this is really awkward.

haha that was the end of the third episode I think. Don't worry it gets better, you get to see vampires filmed having sex too

Amat you'll have to give it a shot, if you knew what lead up to that, you would understand it, and probably laugh about it.
Don't worry, you'll see plenty of stuff that you will enjoy. ;)
