My Barrera - Marquez Scorecard.

First off a great fight to watch.
The fight was competitive throughout but Marquez was more agressive and landed the harder shots. The last 3 rounds cost Barrera the fight in my opinion, he clearly tired in the last three rounds and i have no idea how Lederman scored the 11th for Barrera. I also noticed that Lampley was very focused on everything Barrera did but did not play much attention to everything Marquez was doing.

I had Barrera nudging it and I started a thread about it after the first. I could be wrong but I think about a third agreed with me and two thirds thought Marquez won. Memory is hazy there though.
It was a good scrap, and if only that knockdown had been scored and Barrera restrained himself a little when Marquez was down.....wouldve made it look far better for Marco.

The knockdown was a bad error by Nady and what i would of done was reward Barrera with the KD but also deduct the point making it a 9-8 round for Barrera. Barrera could of won the fight but he didn't do much work at all in the late rounds for me to give it to him.

I had Barrera winning it too . Statistically he landed more punches and he scored the only knockdown .

I don't think Compubox is accurate enough to base your score of a fight on. Marquez was more effective with his agression and landed the harder blows and from watching the fight it appeared he was throwing more than Barrera also especially in the championship rounds. The Knockdown also was not counted as a KD even though i thought it should have been.

I had Marquez winning it as well, but by a round or two. That is with my counting the knockdown so I had pretty much the same score as you. I felt Barrera was doing better early then MArquez, but he wasn't able to maintain the pace.

If they fought again now, Marquez would win MUCH easier.
It's been a while since I've had talked about this fight. I personally had Marquez winning by a slim margin. I agree with Pugilistic about Barrera slowing down in the championship rounds though.

I had Barrera winning by a point. He would have won by more imo, but I had to score Nady's stupid call. Horrible call, pisses me off just thinking of that fight. MAB got hosed big time.

yea it was a great fight probably one of JMMs greatest besides the wars with pacman, but JMM won not too clearly but even if you watched the fight without scoring it you can tell JMM won. and also i dont go by ledermans score card even though he is accurate most of the time i just cant stand his voice, he just annoys me for some reason;D:mad:

Marquez picked it up in the second half. But...Barrera had the knockdown. As for Nady's bs decision of deducting the point...well some will argue Barrera was being dirty...but i saw it differently. The best thing about that knockdown was right before...Marquez had Marco on the brink of a knockdown himself...but Barrera being the great champion he is...found something deep down to counter and knock Marquez down. Great fight.

I think i had this fight a draw but i honestly can't remember, i haven't seen this fight in ages. But what i do remember is that Marquez's power punch stats were misleading.
Considering he had a massive 7th round where he landed about 30 more power punches and he dominated the round. Which is why Marquez landed 40 more power punches overall or whatever the total was.
I thought the fight was pretty even for most of the way and i think they were equal in most departments, there should have been a rematch but its too late now. Im big fan of both fighters so i didn't care who won, but the scorecards were ridiculous end of.

Barrera was winning the fight by the 7th round but the whole miss by Nady did cause a big difference. If the knockdown had counted, I would've had the fight as a draw... It would've just been a 9-9 round instead of a 10-8 in favor of Marquez.

Id have liked to have seen an immediate rematch but I think Barreras too old now . He was on his last legs then tbh .

Mate i've been downloading MAB fights for the last 3 days, i won't have any room at this rate. Im like a kid in a candy shop with all these MAB fights, just recently watched a young Barrera with a mullet ;D

Lol ive seen that too . His first fight is on youtube. He was throwing furious punches with both arms chasing the other guy across the ring . Couldnt recognise him with that mullet . Im downloading the Maurin fight now

Great fight and as close as i remember and as good as i remember, but Marquez out fought Barrera in those last 3 rounds which gave him the edge. Even if the knockdown would of been scored in the 7th, i still would have only scored it 10-9 for Barrera, because it was such a one sided round for Marquez.
By the way there was no bias in my scoring im a massive fan of both fighters, so i wasn't favoring one fighter over another.
