Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
According to this article, Golden Boy and Top Rank met today to put the fight together.
If it happens, even though I like Mosely, I don't give him much of a shot, especially after seeing how much trouble he had with Mayorga.
The article also says that there is a rumor that Casamayor is trying to break away from Golden Boy, so that he can try to get a fight with Barrera.

Man I know Margarito is trying to make money, and I respect that but the fight the people want to see is with Paul Williams. Hopefully he will fight him next year.

I'd like a Margarito vs. Clottey rematch but This one sounds like it is growing roots and might just come off. Also convinced Williams will be moving up,writing on the wall! I like Margarito to win in a fight that may get rough for both.I think Mosley has not totally fallen off career wise but against awkward & physical Mayorga he really looked to bomb him out and not look for boxing. If he looks to out tough Margarito with 2 or 3 shots at a time,I see him lossing lopsided.

This will go badly for Mosley.

Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
This is a fight that should have happened a few years ago. Mosley will lose easily

Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
After Mosley's last performance, how can he actually think that he can go toe to toe with Margarito? :dontknow:
I really don't see it happening.

Mosley can go toe to toe with any of the welterweights, he struggles when he goes upto light middle and always has. I think he feels he has a good chance of doing what Cotto couldnt and box for the full 12 rounds without gasing. As much as I love Mosley though Margarito maybe too much for him at this stage in his career but then again Mosley has never been a fighter who ducks a challenge.

Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
Interesting matchup actually,Margarito used to just keep throwing at the wall and hoping it would stick, but recently his work rate has come down.
But then again so has Mosley's
Its probably going to be a bomb festival that comes down to superior defense

Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
I see Mosley starting off well and winning a few of the early rounds due to Margarito being a slow starter. But once Margarito gets going I see him pounding out a UD over Mosley.

I agree with what you're saying, I am a fan of Mosley's, but he didn't look his best against Mayorga, and Margarito is a whole different ballgame. I don't know if Mosley will be able to keep Margarito off of him for 12 rounds, and I know Mosley has a tough chin, but I think that chin, and his body is going to be severly tested. At his age, how well is he going to be able to withstand it, will be the question.

Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
I think it will still be a very decent fight. Mosley had issues with a pretty pumped up Mayorga and still came away with the KO. 154 is not Mosleys weight at all. Margarito is a different fighter completely and it will be at 147. Styles make fights and I think this is an intriguing mix.

Negoiations ??!! Why ?? Mosley has no chance at beating margarito, heck i give pac a better shot at Ko'ing oscar..
-
Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
Mosley would only be able to win this fight if he would box and run the whole fight. He definitely should not engage Margarito at all costs but the thing with Mosley is, he can't help trading. He loves to fight!

Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
Its a very tough ask but I dont think its to unlikely that Mosley could win a UD if hes smart and actually boxes enough rounds without throwing for the fences, then finishes strong. I see a stoppage either way as almost completely out of the question saving for cuts.

Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
Mosley is gonna get destroyed in this fight, I think Margarito can actually stop him. My issue is that I think this would have been more competitive years ago, but Mosley's workrate is way too low nowadays to make this competitive.
I like Mosley, but this is a bad career move IMO, I at least hope he gets compensated well.

I agree completely. If this fight takes place I'll be amazed if Mosley hears the final bell, let alone is competitive.

Well i think that Mosley can out point him to tell you truth. His head wide open to take shots no way is Shane getting stopped. Come people it Shane Mosley he has been put down once in his career and besides that i never seen Shane really hurt. I doubt that Margrito hits harder then Moyorga or Oscar and Shane chin makes Cotto look like glass. Well for me even at 37 i while give Shane Mosley a shot to outpoint Margrito who knows been alot of upsets latly hope this it one of them.

Never seen Shane Mosley really hurt ? he was down twice and almost KO'ed by Vernon Forrest in there first fight, plus he got a beating to the body and he was doubling over. I can assure you Shane Mosley was very hurt against Vernon Forrest, he took a one sided whooping and some refs might of stopped the fight.

Re: Negoiations for Margarito vs Mosley in January begun today
Alright let me ask you this think Margrito has the jab and boxing skills to hit Shane like Forrest did. Do you think he going to stop shane and i said the only time i seen him down was against forrest ice then i said besides that so why you say forrest when i already said it trying to get on my shit or somthing dude.

Its nothing to do with Antonio Margarito having Vernon Forrest's attributes, its due to Shane Mosley getting older. He struggled against Ricardo Mayorga, who most people believed Shane Mosley would blow away. And Shane Mosley often looked lazy at times, he won't have the workrate to keep up with Antonio Margarito, and will lose over 12 rounds, or get stopped late on.
