Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Now this actually will shape up to be quite entertaining... Manfredo ALWAYS puts on a big show when he fights at the Dunk a la Pemberton and Spina...
Bika will come forward throwing bombs... This will be a very fan friendly fight. So how does it go?:boxing2:

Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Manfredo by decision although I could very easily see Bika winning the fight.
-
Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Im not sure what will happen i like both guys i will have to think about it then vote apart from getting slapped to death by Calzaghe and getting stopped in the 3rd even though he was slipping the punches Manfredo has never looked like getting stopped really. This will be a good fight better than some title fights this year in fact Bika likes a war Manfredo is not scared of a war this could be a fight of the year.

Thing about Peter are those stamina issues... When he fought Lacy he just fell in to lazy infighting... He boxed great in the first round and a half...
When he's at home in front of his fans and comfortable expect fightworks... I hate watching him fight outside new england cuz something just switches off(not saying he would have had a shot against Joe anyway;D).
Manfredo will box and he, contrary to what many think, has a bit of pop. It will be entertaining though a tough one to call due to the style matchup.

Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Right ive gone for Manfredo points win but wouldn't be shocked to see a Bika KO win he is one of if not the pysically strongest super middleweights.
-
Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Well although it's a possibility I just don't see Bika catching and hurting Manfredo... The Lacy "knockdown" is the only time he's been down in his career and he's never been hurt. You are correct in Bika being VERY strong and if Manfredo gets caught he'll know he got hit ;)

Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
The scorpion will prevail unless he doesn't get robbed as it's Manfredo's backyard.

Nah... I'll watch it on TV... Every seat is a good seat at the Dunk though... You can buy "shitty" tickets and the ring is still like "right there"... I went to the Pemberton and Spina fights... Well I was still living in RI then so it was easier... I have a 46" LCD... I think I'll just watch it on VersusHD rather then go all the way down.

This is true... Should it be a close fight there could be some controvercy which I fucking hate... I watched a kid get ROBBED that was brought in as an opponant vs Eddie Sotto on a Gary Balletto card a while back... Horrible.
I hope that one of them makes it easy on the judges and either wins convncinly either on points or KO... I hate controvercial decisions...

Anthony Bonsante v Jesse Brinkley 2 was fukking bad. On the same night Manfredo got robbed against Mora in the remacth. Awful judges on hand that night, you needed a KO for the right man to win

If I was you I'ld deffo go. I'm still kicking myself about not going to Newcastle last year for the UK v USA Contender. Especially as Bundrage v Brewer is on the undercard. I'm looking forward to that.

Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
I'm a fan of Manfredo, but I doubt he'll beat Bika. In fact, I think it is a pretty gutsy fight for Manfredo to take. Manfredo may be a better boxer than Bika, but not by much, and Manfredo tends to tire in later rounds. Manfredo will land more punches than Bika in the beginning while Bika lands more powerful punches. Manfredo will slow toward the end and Bika will take advantage.
-
Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
I like Manfredo but I think it will be Bika by decision.

What was awesome was the contender finale at the TD Banknorth Garden... That's like a mile away from me and Codrington Bika... Now that was a friggin fight!
I was in the 6th row!

Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
I took Bika to win for two reasons
1) Manfredo's stamina, I don't think Peter will be able to get to Bika early which he needs to do to be effective in this fight.
2) Bika can be as dirty a fighter as they come, I think this will frustrate Peter and will lull him into fighting at Bika's tempo.
Peter is a pretty tough guy though, so I don't see a stoppage. I think the first half of this fight should be entertaining and close, the second half being lopsided for Bika. I'm rooting for Manfredo to get a win here though.
-
Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Sorry Pride, gotta go with Bika by decision.
Stamina, stamina, stamina. Will Peter have any? :dontknow:
I know he fights better at home, but a completely shot Pemberton, and a never really was that good Spina, are a different story than Bika.
I guess you changed you mind on going, because I remember when the fight was first announced, you told me that you were going to go. Is it because it's on a Thursday night, and you don't want to drive there on a work night?
-
Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Bika's physicality and ruggedness could really take Manfredo out of his game.Manfredo has the ability to box but will have to keep Bika off.I'm actually going with Manfredo to rise to the occasion ,maintain pace and take a close decision ?
-
Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
When this fight was first suggested I initially thought Bika would bash the shit out of Manfredo, now? I think exactly the same;D

That was a great night!!. My girlfriend surprised me with tickets and we were in the 7th row up (not the floor seats) and dead center to the ring. The whole card was entertaining, I thought. I enjoyed the Banks vs McCrary fight a lot, and I really enjoyed watching Vera beat on Max Alexander. The Bika/Codrinton fight was terrific.

Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Suprised so many people are giving Peter Manfredo a chance, no offense POB but Sakio Bika has only really lost once convincingly. To Lucian Bute who is tall and fights on the outside, other than that Sakio Bika has so far always done well against some of the top Super Middleweights, where as Peter Manfredo has never done well against any top opposition at Middleweight or Super Middleweight.
I think Peter Manfredo will get outhustled here, Sakio Bika although his punching technique could do with some work. Is still very strong physically and he has a solid chin, i think Sakio Bika will be too much for Peter Manfredo. And i can see Sakio Bika stopping Peter Manfredo late on or winning a comfortable UD.

Pride if it makes you feel better, I actually hope that Manfredo will win and make you happy.

i think it will be a split decision for bika. oh and never mind booze i thought it would make it to 20k but still close.

Huh? :headscratch:
Bika just fought in April, and then won The Contender last November, and had 2 fights last October while on The Contender.
How do you figure he hasn't fought in 1 1/2 years? :dontknow:

Ahhh, mah man... Of course you know I'm gonna support my man. All your points are well seated and as much as I think you're right(cuz you are) how many times have you watched peter fight anywhere in New England...) My point really is that he's a different fighter when he fight at home(sad really).
It will be a better fight then people think... Peter opens up in front of the home crowd(maybe not good against a moose like Bike);)

Ahh, my love... Will he have an stamina... ;) I damn well hope so. Thats why Mora convincingly took the first fight... Thats why he lost against Lacy(and cuz I thing when he was knocked down(although not hurt) It scared the shit out of him;D).
You are right that Pemberton was beyond shot ans Spina was just a record and a live body, sure...
I just know that he'll do his best work in front of the Italian faithful... A mile from the hill? He'll just wanna beat Bika so right after he can grab a "Godfather" sandwich from ROMA gourmet late night.

Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
I think Manfredo can pull this out... either way it should be a good scrap!
-
Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
A chance of a robbery if it goes to the cards Pride?
-
Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
I'm actually surprised so many people are giving Manfredo a decent shot.
I have no doubt that Manfredo is the more skilled fighter, but he can also be a lazy fighter and he has some very bad habits. He let himself get outworked in the Lacy fight and that one was there for that taking. I'm trying to figure how Peter can overcome the physical size/strength disadvantage for 12 rounds. He should be able to counter Bika, and he should be able to box him from the outside. Will he? Over and over, he shows that tendency to lay inside and pick spots while getting outworked, and at SMW, he doesn't do much damage with those inside shots. He can get away with it against Banks or McCrary, but If he does this with Bika he'll probably cut, probably get outworked, and generally not look good, even if he ends up landing the cleaner shots. Maybe that will get him a win in Providence, but I'm not sure it will, even at home, because Bika made even Calzaghe look bad.
I'll be rooting for Peter, but my brain tells me Bika is going to be a little too much for him. If he wins, it's because he comes in the best condition of his career and he has the legs to box and move for 12.

that may be what i have to do after the fight!! haha..
I think Manfredo is going to have a tough fight, and will need to fight on the inside to make it winnable.. He has to get inside those wide hooks and throw short punches on the inside.. He is capable of this, but he just needs to not get caught with any long range bombs on the outside..
Defense will be key, and he can't be afraid to throw.. Jaidon has a pretty big punch, and landed often against Bika's non-existant defense, so if Peter can land a few of those straight right's like he did against Spina, then i give him a good shot..
60/40 in favor of Bika.. but i obviously want the Pride to win..

Re: Manfredo VS. Bika poll
Depends on what money incentive they give Bika. If it's winner takes all Manfredo has no chance (Bika could probably beat anyone in that situation).
