I think Calzaghe is stretching it saying he kicked Hopkins butt.
It's clear B Hop is getting under his skin.
Both fighters are saying all the right things. Maybe a rematch will happen maybe it won't.
I think Joe wins easier next time.
Another reason why Calzaghe is not held in particularly high esteem by so many, in spite of his "accomplishments"
IF they did fight it would 100% be in Cardiff and NO WAY Popkins gets away with not fighting...he'd be DQ'd anf fucked off out of the ring;)
I mean.. Calz is right, isn't he? If he said I wouldn't get beat by a black man, is there any difference?
Hopkins had that whooping coming after all the trash he talked. Tough philly Fighter? I don't think so. True philly fighters will look for the bomb to end the fight when they are behind on pts. Hopkins was curled up holding his tiny un-touched testicles for the championship rounds.
calzaghe did hit hopkins near the nuts a couple of times, but hopkins was acting like a drama queen, trying to get points deducted so he could win by a technicality.

Calzaghe is completely right. Hopkins is most certainly a sore loser, a daft racist and he lost quite clearly to Calzaghe.
Calzaghe is saying nothing particularly new here. I dont blame him for not wanting to fight Hopkins again.
Most of Calzaghes swelling came from Hopkins head. He's a fucking ugly fighter and he should have more points taken away when he fights. All that use of the head, holding and play acting. Its beyond the rules and he needs to be called to task.
I wouldnt mind seeing a Dawson or Froch fight. Who really wants to see a Hopkins fight. It would just be the same old from Hopkins and a more careful Calzaghe tallying up the points.

A 100% Cazalghe unleashes upon old snaggletooth far worse IMO. He's already beaten Hopkins and that was Calzaghe not at 100%. There is nothing to suggest that was not Hopkins as good as Hopkins can be.
The Hopkins that fought Pavlik would have been taken to the trenches by Joe. Hopkins did fight the correct fight against Joe. Circle, retreat, counter, hold. Repeat frequently. Anything different and Hopkins gets exhausted and embarrassed by him.

I think B-Hop will win a rematch. He will adapt by also flailing his arms and landing glancing shots, so the HBO team can get worked up and yell like he's throwing effective punches.

I think a second fight will be more exciting. Not an exciting fight, but just more than the last one.
I think between Hopkins and Calzaghe, Hopkins will come into a rematch with a better gameplan. The thing is, Calzaghe will most likely spoil the gameplan. I would like to see a second go round. It was a close fight and Hopkins let Joe take the fight from him. Would B-Hop not let it happen again?

The biggest point is the build up to the re-match (if it happens, and I for one don't want it to happen) will be more eventful than the fight itself. The first fight was dull as dishwater.

I don't disagree with any of that, I just think it's unfair to single out Hopkins as the sole reason HBO would not want a 2nd fight. Both fighers are underwhelming draws in the States. I don't think is has much to do with Calzaghe being a Brit, I think it's more a combination of factors.Quote:

I haven't done any research on this, but if you have fast access to the numbers, have there been any fights recently that did great PPV numbers in the US, besides DLH or Floyd? What about Pacquaio? Point being I'd be surprised if Hopkins numbers were significantly lower than many other champions, for PPV buys in the US.Quote:
