I think the size difference will be too much, Manny Pacquiao maybe at 149 or whatever but thats his limit. ODLH is naturally way bigger than that and i expect him to be atleast 160 come fight night.

Manny Pacquiao will also have to fight on the backfoot, which takes away the momentum he gets into his shots while coming forward. I also think Manny Pacquiao will be slower, which in turn will make his power less effective. Because Manny Pacquiao relies on his speed to generate his power.

Plus if you have seen Manny Pacquiao sparring, notice how he has to overeach. All the time to hit the bigger sparring partners. Its almost ridiculous at times.

Also people keep saying about ODLH's stamina, but Manny Pacquiao won't be able to come forward against the much bigger man. And test those issues, i just can't see Manny Pacquiao's small frame standing up to those big left hooks of ODLH.

Steve Forbes, Floyd Mayweather Jr, were effective because there fast, slick, good defense. Manny Pacquiao maybe fast but he is no way slick or a good defensive fighter by any means. He hits and gets hit despite his bobbing and weaving, he's still very hittable. And i just can't picture Manny Pacquiao taking ODLH's big left hook.

PAC loves to eat those opponents who will always come forward... ;D

And it's a BIG shame if Hoya will not be the aggressor... ;D

De La Hoya's Foolish Weight Loss

Whereas Margarito has made a foolish strategic decision outside the ring, De La Hoya has made one in it. I can't fathom why De La Hoya would think it was wise to boil down to 145 lbs. against an opponent who is jumping up in weight. Manny Pacquiao, his Dec. 6 dance partner, debuted at 135 this summer and currently weights more than De La Hoya at 152. That means that even if De La Hoya's weight comes up some, he's almost surely going to weigh less than Pacquiao come fight night.

One of De La Hoya's chief advantages over Pacquiao -- I would say his #1 advantage -- was size. On age, Pacquiao has him beat. On speed, Pacquiao has him beat. On stamina, Pacquiao has him beat. On technique, De La Hoya probably has a leg up, especially on defense. But his real weapon was that he'd be bigger. An insight on cutting/losing weight from another forum:

"Cutting weight is different from losing weight. Cutting weight is temporary and usually invloves dehydration. Losing weight is over a longer period of time and will compose of losing some kind of body mass whether it be fat or lean muscle tissue, sometimes both. To lose weight, you have to eat less so your body will have to use fat reserves for fuel instead of the food intake, and hopefully most of the weight loss id from fat. But, if you lose weight too fast, your body catabolizes and you end up losing lean muscle tissue along the way, and from that, one will feel drained and weaker, especially during a hard training camp. That could probably be why ODH got beat up by Ortiz as he didn't have the proper food intake (fuel) to give him the energy to spar. He was starving himself too early. It's best to starve yourself a few days before the fight as the hard part of training, all the sparring is already done, and you can focus on just making weight.

CUTTING weight, is not too harmful if done right and in moderation. For an average person with an average build, cutting no more than 10 pounds of water weight if the weigh-ins the day before is ideal. More than that, and that is dangerous and you can run into some health problems. Also you have to manipulate your sodium intake as sodium holds water.

You also have to load your body with water about 2 weeks before the weigh-in. When you keep drinking a lot of water (2 gallons a day) your body will get used to flushing water out of your body at a high rate. Then all of a sudden, you stop drinking water (maybe the day before you weigh in) and your body will still be used to flushing water out of your system at a high rate. You do some cardio with warm clothing, jump in the sauna, etc, and you will just keep sweating and sweating and before you know it, you're 10 pounds lighter. Now all you have to do is weigh in and then rehydrate for the fight.

Believe me, I'd rather cut weight for a few hours than starve myself for weeks. That is why Pac always goes into the fight the next day bigger than what he weighed in at.

i'm placing pac stopping oscar at around 4/1 and a pac decision win as about even. i think that oscar draining himself, pac's speed and stamina will play a very big factor in this fight. a de la hoya early stoppage of pac i place at about even. if oscar doesn't stop him early up to the middle rounds he's screwed. pac will rally in the late rounds and either stop him or end up in a close decision that could go either way.

im takeing the wildcard and saying its going to be a double knockout!

As much as I hate this comic strip of a fight.....I can see it.The busted up part,not a KO loss for DelaHypa.

No matter the outcome,I think Pac will not return to lightweight?

Let me play Devil's Advocate here. Pac is very hittable, yes, but would it be fair to say that he's been hittable against smaller, faster fighters than Oscar? Also, when Pac is overreaching against sparring partners, could this not be something he and Freddie are resolving while sparring. I mean, you'd prefer to get it wrong in training rather than on fight night. If Oscar comes in 13 pounds above the welter limit might that mean that he was overly drained to make 147? Also Pac looked just as fast and strong at 135, what if he is able to bring in that kind of speed and strength?

My heart and my head are in a war over this. My heart tells me it will be Pac, but my head tells me Oscar is going to eat his lunch and make Freddie shine his shoes. I don't want to, but I have to go with my head.

When I first heard about the fight I thought straight away what a stupid match up it was and that Oscar is gunna kill little Manny, but as the fight draws nearer and after watching the 24/7 episodes im starting to think Pac will pull of the win. He looks in great shape and to me De Le Hoya does look very weight drained and I think it will take its toll.

please....whoever thinks DLH overtrained to make weight is just a jackass, the man basically has stayed in shape since his bout with Forbes, that was in May, he's already at the welterweight limit, we're in November, the man took all the time he needed to get into the proper shape for this fight, he doesn't look like Morales when he tried to boil down to 130 in the last two Pacquiao fights, he looks fresh and healthy, and very much in shape, i don't wanna go off on them but you Pac groupies are tryin to pull so called advantages out your asses, i don't know if it's out of fear that he'll actually lose to the bigger man and you need some sort of security, but seriously just wait till Dec 6

When a fight is being hyped up...it's easy to over analyze every detail. Bottom line...we don't much about anything. According to Roach and Pac's sparring partners...Manny is going to knock Oscar out. That cannot possibly be a biased opinion:rolleyes:. Oscar is weight drained and is going to be super weak come fight night...according to what?! Pics of him looking skinny?! With all due honesty...he looked in damn good shape to me in 24/7...as did Pac. All i'm saying...most of this is to hype the fight up. I am using logical reasoning (size, reach, weight, skill) to pick Oscar to win. If Pac proves me wrong...so be it.

The 24/7 series alters my way of thinking. It made me think Hatton could beat Mayweather, it made me think Jones had a shot at Calzaghe, now it's making me think Pac is going to make this a fight. My mind knew what would happen but the 24/7 series makes me doubt myself.
