That's a good/tough question. It almost seems like you have to give something up (your childhood) to reach the top in some professions. Not to compare her to a fighter but I was thinking part of the reason Brittany Spears is messed up as an adult is because she never really had a childhood. She's been singing/entertaining her whole life & now really doesn't know how to an adult. It does make you think you have to sacrifice/trade to be the best - you can't have it all.
Even Oscar has said the relationship with his father wasn't the best or all that close.
Hell yea...most of us have problems but we can't drown them in our 25 billion dollor entertainment room. He could have just as easy have the same family and be broke. Money doesn't fix everything but it sure as hell makes it easier. Besides many of us work at different places how many of us reguardless of what we do can say we are the best in the world at it. And lastly hell yes cause i'd buy as much of the broncos as i could and fire our god damn worthless defense.
But, if mayweather hadn't even box'd then who is to say that he still wouldn't have a bad relationship w/ his family? I'm not sure if it's the money and boxing that ruined his relationship.. It didn't make it any better with all of the feuds, but yeah..
so the question, really is is it true that the more money you make, the more problems you have?
I feel, personally, that if i were to become a professional athlete, or somehow become rich over night, that it wouldn't affect my family life.. In Mayweathers case, i don't think that even if her weren't rich that he'd have a good family life w/ his dad, so i'd rather be rich without my dad, then not rich without my dad..
Your relationship is going to either be good or bad with or without being an athlete or celeb......
outside of maybe drug use or just abandoning your family there is no reason for the status to matter...
a large problem in many aspects is jealousy and money
should you decline sucess because a family member is jealous? or should you dislike the person because they don't give you a portion of their made money?..

I wouldn't want to be Mayweather because he seems to be a shut-in, he rarely goes out and doesn't have a lifestyle that would make me happy. I don't need/want expensive cars and a big house to make me happy, I make my own happiness. That being said he lives a good life for being a successful boxer.
Not for a second. The more you have the more you can lose. Do you think all those guys in his videos, hanging on Floyd would be there if he was making 30K a year in working a factory? If I put out rap albums as bad as Floyd, my friends would tell me straight out, that sh@t is garbage. People around him dont care about Floyd "Money" Mayweather they care about Floyd Mayweathers money.
Everyone has problems, there are many succesful rich athletes that have good family lives. RRJ's problems with his pop would probably exist even if he wasnt successful.
As for friends, if he chooses to have a bunch of yes men around him that is his perogative. I am sure he has alot of friends that have as much money as him and are willing to tell him how it is. You pick the people you surround yourself with.
A guy I grew up with was lucky enough to make it in the NFL and I am lucky enough to share in some of the rewards that come with it....and what rewards they are.....If you are not or are not close to a celebrity you have no idea.....They live in a whole 'nother world.

I am confused by some of the responses I am seeing and even the question. It appears some are assuming fame and fortune comes with the price of family which is not true. If the question was would you trade my great relationship with my old man for fame and fortune.. the answer is obvious...A great relationship with your father is priceless...
On the other hand many fathers place tremendous pressure on their sons to become great athletes.....successful or not the relationship with your father becomes strained...Mayweather and Jones would have a similar relationship with their father even if they werent successful....Many successful athletes had great relationships with their family/fathers...Tiger Woods and MJ come to mind....
Not for the fame and fortune I still say yes, ask me if I would do, and have no friends? I would still say yes. Achieving that sort of success would mean everything to me.

Hell,the only time my Aunt is nice to me,is if she's wondering how much money she can squeeze me for. And she has a custom built house on 10 acres of prime PA property.
