Froch isn't as willing to fight Taylor as he led us to believe...
Froch is willing to fight Taylor anytime, anywhere: Sky Sports | Boxing | News | Froch - Come and get me
However, that doesn't include March 28th and the United States:
Froch's Promoter Denies Claims of Team Jermain Taylor - Boxing News
Froch complains constantly that fighters dodge him. Why not take the fight against Taylor on Showtime on the 28th?
-
Re: Froch isn't as willing to fight Taylor as he led us to believe...
That's a bit harsh mate.
Lou DiBella says he offered them the March 28 date but he also KEEPS saying the money isn't right for the Froch fight.
Hennessy (Froch's promoter) has at least acknowledged there that they'll do the date if he can sort the UK end out at short notice.
-
Re: Froch isn't as willing to fight Taylor as he led us to believe...
It sounded a bit harsher than I intended it to. Froch always complains people won't fight him and so on and so on. Here is his chance with a marquee fighter. That is all I meant.
-
Re: Froch isn't as willing to fight Taylor as he led us to believe...
"But the problem here is that there’s a date in America for March 28 and while we are interested in going to the US, right now we’ve got to make sure that date tallies up with the UK rights for the fight because it’s short notice and broadcasters make their schedules well in advance."
:lolhaha::lolhaha::lolhaha:. Just say you were bull shiiting and you don't really want the fight.
-
Re: Froch isn't as willing to fight Taylor as he led us to believe...
They should offer the fight to a guy like Bika or Miranda, guys who really do wanna fight anywhere anytime, they dont just say it they back it up by travelling.
-
Re: Froch isn't as willing to fight Taylor as he led us to believe...
I believed that Froch would fight anywhere anytime as much as I believed that he actually offered Calzaghe £5m for a fight ;D
-

After watching him go life and death with a Canadian who is possibly a little bit short of world level ability it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Froch stay at home and fight an easy mandatory to make a bit of money. Henessy has a contract with ITV, it'd be no problem at all for him to get the fight on the telly and he's had months to make a TV deal for the fight on British TV anyway, so he's clearly bullshitting.

Taylor has been in the ring with
Hopkins 2X
Wright
Pavlik 2X
Lacy
Who the F has Fraud been in there with?? Jean Pascal LOL!! You funny man
Froch needs to fight someone other than guys from the soup kitchen for chrise sakes

I'm sure i read ITV wont show anymore fights in the early hours.. which obviously Froch-Taylor would be from the states.
But.. I'd be surprised if Froch didn't have one or two "gimme" defences before stepping up.
Respect to him if he makes his first defence in the challengers backyard ;)

It may be the case with ITV but Hennessy knew the dates for the purse bids before Froch fought Pascal and would have been negotiating with British TV companies then to see how much they were willing to pay so that he could make his bid. Using British TV problems now as an excuse is no excuse, it does look like they're avoiding the fight.
I agree that Froch deserves respect for making his first defence (or even second or third) in the States but I'll believe it when I see it. I'm guessing the Trent FM arena for the forseeable future. :)

The record shows he beat Hopkins 2x regardless of what people think, and a draw with Wright isint to bad either. thats 36 rounds with 2 hall of famers.
Froch has 0 worldclass credentials, and has to prove himself. getting handed a title dosent make you world class, you still have prove yourself.
Look at Berto, same situation he is considered a champ, but he still has to prove he is worthy by fighting live contenders and bona fied threats like he did against Collazo.. Froch needs to man up and make this fight or he will be considered another coddled complainer and self proclaimed feared fighter

I saw those fights the same way, but it doesn't change the fact that he has at least been in the ring with real top level competition. Froch has made a big hype about how he would fight anyone, anywhere, how he would beat up Joe etc etc & this kinda shows that him & Hennessy were chattin shit. I do think he can beat Taylor tho

Froch hasnt demonstrated anything other than he is a heavier and poorer version of Darchinyan. A technical mess and 1 dimensional.
Taylor is younger, technically sound, experienced and more athletic as well as big fight experience

Lets see.
Froch last 5 opponents.
Tony Dodson, not ranked in top 50 168 fighters in the world and was previously KO'd by Pierre Moreno(who?) and Albert Rybacki.
Sergey Tatevosyan
35 yr old journeyman not ranked in top 50 and had just come off a loss to a guy with 3 fights.
Robin Reid, 37 yr old ex pornstar, who was not ranked in top 40 at time of fight. Got owned by Jeff Lacy and had only had 4 fights in 5 years.
Albert Rybacki, world ranking in the 200s whose greatest win was Tony Dodson, sound familiar? 80% of his previous opponents had losing records.
Then he gets a title shot and really STEPS IT UP v Pascal who similiar to Froch had never beaten a guy in the top 30 at 168 and similiar to Froch did not deserve a title shot. Froch beats Pascal who will never be top 10 by decision. Well done Carl.
And u criticise Taylors resume. Yeah good thinking. Fanboy.

well said, he needs to stop moaning and fight a true champion, super mid or light heavy it makes no difference aslong as he can prove his words, he will become a true champ in time but he really needs to take fights that are on the table instead of chasing something that will not happen.

Darchinyan has big-time credentials. He has stepped in the ring with talented opposition. Give Vic a little credit.
- Sorry I saw you already apologized. Vic may be a prick, but he always steps to the plate.
To gain respect outside of those from Nottingham, Froch shouldn't fight "gimme's," he should fight the Bika's, Miranda's, and Green's of the world. Bika needs a fight and he would go to England. Beat Bika and my opinion on Froch would begin to change. Besides his unabashed arrogance, I don't dislike "the Cobra," but comparing him to Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor or any of the other top 68's is undeserved and diminishes their accomplishments.
To put it in perspective, Peter Manfredo has been in with much better competition than Froch (Calzahge, Bika, Mora Jr., Jeff Lacy). Froch should be able to get those kinds of fights if Manfredo can.

I agree and yea, sometimes I forget how well Vic rebounded after getting chinned. He certainly had the mental toughness to bounce back better than before.
Also good comparison to Manfredo, if Peetey can get some heavy hitters in the ring, than Froch should be able to do the same

Re: Froch isn't as willing to fight Taylor as he led us to believe...
Well, the thing is Taylor is the mandatory. If DiBella wants to be hard-headed, he can make sure he wins the purse bid and then Froch's side has no choice but to take the fight on his terms or else be stripped of the title.

Whether its Froch's fault or the WBC's fault it dont change the fact that Froch has a belt without fighting anyone remotely good.
Shit even laughing stock of the 168 division Mundine has fought Kessler, Ottke, Soliman, Green, Echols, and Siaca.
Then u go and criticise Taylos record who love him or hate him has fought, champions, future hall of famers and dangerous punchers. He has fought atleast 7 or 8 fighters better than Frochs top opponent in Pascal.
Hopkins x 2
Wright
Pavlik x 2
Ouma
Spinks
Joppy
That is a solid resume win lose or draw, and has proven Taylor is world class.
Froch may go on to be a great champ, and i'll freely admit im wrong, but as of now he has done nothing but win a belt against a limited opponent and he didnt do that overly easy either.
There is a difference between being a beltholder, and being a champ.
-
Re: Froch isn't as willing to fight Taylor as he led us to believe...
For months Froch has been accusing Taylor of ducking him, when the reality is that Taylor still had a contract with HBO when he was first offered a shot at Froch for the WBC belt, and HBO had no interest in Froch.
So the fight wasn't made for tv reasons on Taylor's side.
Now it seems that Hennessy is using the tv excuse himself as a reason they haven't accepted DiBella's offer.
Anyone else see the irony here?
I wonder if Froch will start accusing himself of ducking.

Your opinion of those fights doesn't matter; it matters that he took those fights, whereas the "cobra" has no marquee fights to date. Let him fight Taylor, Kessler, or even Bute and then Froch (and Froch fans) can have something to talk about.

Froch is full of shit.
He reminds me of little pricks on forums who gob off and spout nonsense with no comupence.
Put him live on air with Taylor, Calzaghe and Kessler and ask him to repeat what hes bean saying then let the others put their case across, I doubt hed even join in, knowing he spouts absolute shit.
I reckon behind it all hes deeply jealous of what Joe has achieved because hes left it very late at his age to make as much of an impact, he'll never be a champ undefeated for 11 years now and even if he managed that theres no way hed be beating top pound for pound fighters when hes 42;D Hes having trouble beating inexperienced medocre fighters right now when hes 32 this year;D
The guys a joke and just like an annoying little brother to all the other real fighters who take real fights.

Maybe of your heart. But in Boxing no he's not. Can't be a champ if you never beat one.
Maybe of your heart, ;D i aint no lover of the guy but he is champ regardless, dont slag froch off then slag WBC
There is a difference between being a beltholder, and being a champ.
yeah i hold my hands up i am basing froch winning against taylor more on gut instinct than facts, fact is taylor has met much better oposition. just never thought he was that good a champion. just shows that these titles mean fk all, ditch them all & lets get everyone fighting everyone no more mandatory or anything like that, we the fans would know who is the best then, what an ideal world that would be, oh wait MONEY MONEY MONEY thats what matters i suppose though:(

Froch is NOT THE CHAMP.. He is a paper alphabet title holder... You really think Taylor gives 2 shits about a fing belt?
Taylor has been in the ring with
Hopkins 2X
Wright
Pavlik 2X
Lacy
Who the F has Fraud been in there with?? Jean Pascal LOL!! You funny man
Froch needs to fight someone other than guys from the soup kitchen for chrise sakes
He barely won the first fight against Hopkins, lost the second.
Was lucky to get the draw against Winky who took his foot off the gas despite having the fight in the bag.
He got KTFO by Pavlik and then considering he is a 'skillful boxer' he got outboxed by a slugger over 12.
Lacy ? LMAO ! you dont brag that you beat a guy who could only muster a split win over Peter Manfredo mate !!

Lacy is till better than anyone Froch has fought. Th point I was making was that how can anyone criticise Taylors record and not Frochs? Carl has beat one guy in the top 20 and no one else in the top 40.
Taylor has proved he is competitive wtih ATGs
