Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
Carl Froch's promoter has asked the World Boxing Council to "create a cast-iron deadline" for purse bids for the Nottingham boxer's super-middleweight world title defence against mandatory challenger Jermain Taylor......

Re: Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
For fucks sake i thought these boring cunts had quashed this fight last week? :beat:
Taylor clearly don't want it. Froch is clearly a nobody in America.
Surely Taylor ain't the ONLY name in the world the WBC champ can face?
Re: Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
hahaha loving the sig note;D
Shame if this don't happen but the offer made to Froch is nearly as silly VD's (imaginary) friend claiming they both banged some porn stars in the "off Topic" board;D
Taylor imo is running scared and knows full well he's on a downer after Carl batters him;)

Taylors mob have constantly said they're not interested in the fight. Froch's mob are acting like Taylor is the ONLY fight on earth that means anything to him.
Re: Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
this fight needs to happen cos i cant take yrs of people posting taylor ran oh wait froch never really wanted it oh no taylor is the man oh wait froch is champ
nooooooooooooooooo
pls happen just for our sanity:newdb::shotgun5lu8::foruml10gc5:
Re: Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
I want this fight to happen because it will show us how good Froch really is and it will show us how much JT still has in the tank.
JT has a right to demand more money than Froch because he is the bigger name especially in the states. But, I can agree that 70-30 may be too high. Then again, Jermain doesn't need this fight as much as Froch needs it because many more world-class opponents want to fight him. Jermain on Froch's cd means more than Froch on Jermain's. Thus, if anyone has reason to compromise and be accomodating, it is Froch.
Re: Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
Why doesnt Froch just stay busy. Plenty of guys at 168 who are decent and would travel. Bika, Miranda, Andrade. All those guys deserve a shot at a belt more than Froch ever did anyway.
I feel he keeps calling out Taylor cos he knows Jermain isnt interested, he is not really looking for a big fight but just giving the perception he is. I see a number of low ranked duds in Frochs future. He wont take on anyone remotely dangerous.
Re: Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
Taylor's team was interested, but business is business. Taylor is a far bigger name than Froch and therefore deserves the lion's share of the purse. Plus, HBO was not interested in the fight. I think Showtime expressed an interest, but Froch's team is not being realistic on the money. If it goes to a purse bid, the fight won't happen because per WBC rules their champion is entitled to a 70-30 split.

Not true.
Per WBC Rule 2.12(d): "Notwithstanding the terms of subparagraphs a), b) and c) above, the Board of Governors may, in its discretion and by a majority vote, modify the division of purse offer proceeds between boxers in a purse offer in unusual or special cases, like the consideration of the outstanding marketing value of one of the boxers. The modification of the split will be limited to three categories: 70-30%; 60-40%; and 55-45% for the Champion and challenger, respectively, except in the most exceptional circumstances, in which the split may be modified to 50-50%."
I'm sure Dibella and Froch's promoter could convincingly make the argument it was an "unusual case."

Can you explain why?
What type of figure is realistic for Froch to fight in the states? Considering he is the champion

Problem is.. the purse bids wont be big enough to satisfy what Taylor is already demanding.

60-40 Taylor or 50-50.
However, you're looking at this from the point of view that Froch is better off not accepting Taylor's terms. Regardless of whether Taylor gets the better of Froch in the purse, if Froch beats Taylor, his stock will rise astronomically. If he is so confident he'll win, why not negotiate to the aforementioned amounts or take the 700k? He'll come away with huge income potential for his next fights and huge leverage in negotiations. On the way up, a fighter needs to sacrifice a little to get a lot.

I'm sure they could sign at 50/50 and work out other details to give Taylor a bigger portion of the pie.

No i'm not. I couldn't care less if they fought for a pint of beer, or Taylor got all the money and Froch nothing.
I'm interested in what a "realsitic" amount of money is for Froch. How much did he get for the Pascal fight?
60-40/50-50 is miles from what Taylor is demanding. The article says - Froch was being offered $650,000 to fight in the United States, with Taylor set to take home $1.6 million.

Yeah basically this ridiculous offer is Taylor's people saying fuck off, we don't want to fight you. Whether that's because they think he'll lose or whether there are more attractive options elsewhere is another thing. I would guess about an 80/20 or 90/10 split there favouring the more attractive options versus the risk.
Re: Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
Taylor has so much better fights out there, even Andre Ward would be a better fight which has been discussed recently and would be accepted by HBO.

Yes. It's all very well saying Froch should accept ANY offer but that's clearly not reality.
First off, no-one can answer what a realistic number is for Froch to take.
Secondly, Taylor's mob know Froch's mob aren't going to take a split that greatly favours the challenger in his own backyard.
Ive read/heard even US reporters saying Team Taylor don't want this fight. ;)
Re: Seems FROCH wants to fight and Taylor does'nt
I'm not particularly a fan of Froch's, I'm not anti-Froch, but he isn't my favorite fighter, but from a fan of Froch's perspective, my point is that a Taylor fight would be great for his career and he should take it regardless of the money involved. Who else is he going to fight? Mads Larsen? Is Froch really going to fight Bika or Bute in the UK? Doubtful. If he passes this up, there is a chance he won't get another opportunity to fight against a fighter with this big of a name, and as a fan you will watch him fight average domestic fighters for the next year. Or...he sucks it up, fights Taylor, and if he wins, everyone and their mom will be calling him out.
On the other hand, everyone and their mom is already calling out Taylor...
