I Hate To Do This HitmanDonny, But Your Boy Bernard Dunne...........
Is gonna get destroyed he's getting a world title shot against Ricardo Cordoba, Ricardo Cordoba holds a win over Celestino Caballero.
Dunne to take on Cordoba for world title - The Irish Times - Fri, Jan 30, 2009
Anyone else think Rendall Munroe is getting shafted here ? i think he deserves it more than Bernard Dunne.

Re: I Hate To Do This HitmanDonny, But Your Boy Bernard Dunne...........
yep absolutly, Dunnes done nothing to deserve a world title shot, but this is nothing new in boxing. It could work out good for Munroe if Dunne could pull off a huge upset(don't think he will) then Im pretty sure Dunne Munroe would fight for the title, Ill tell u one thing if he does win he won't be looking to unify against JuanMa, Rafa or Vasquez ;D

I totally agree good unbiased comment i respect the Irish fighters, tough as hell no holds barred type of fighters. Steve Collins was one of my favorites and i rooted for him against Chris Eubank, even though im English.
But Bernard Dunne is getting a gift shot here, he has done nothing to deserve a shot and theres many more deserving fighters. He's not world class either even though he does have some nice boxing skills.
I'd like to see him pull off an upset but i can't see anything else than a beat down. Rendall Munroe deserves a shot at the winner if he gets past Kiko Martinez again.

Re: I Hate To Do This HitmanDonny, But Your Boy Bernard Dunne...........
I've actually made a thread in the UK section on this topic alrteady.
For the record....
Myself and Bernard personally don not get along.
We've had a little altercation in the past and I border on despising him

Yeah I was shocked as well. This is in Dublin too, so they must be paying Cordoba a fair bit of money for this. Hope Dunne gets hammered, he has done little to warrant such an opportunity after being KO'ed in less than a round by Martinez, he hasn't fought anyone making him worthy of this. Munroe shafted. Maloney needs to get him a world title shot asap.

Re: I Hate To Do This HitmanDonny, But Your Boy Bernard Dunne...........
Yeah Dunne's not gonna know whats happening! Cordoba is too good technically & has fought a world of better competition. Cordoba could still be arguably undefeated!!!
Plus he's in my stable in the fantasy league so go THE GODS OF WAR!!!

The least popular fighter in the gym that I have heard of.

He was training in wioldcard gym with Freddie Roach for his first seventeen fights.
Then Manny Pacquiao and Israel Vasquez arrived.
Dunne left.
Coincidence?

Re: I Hate To Do This HitmanDonny, But Your Boy Bernard Dunne...........
ownage?
Most pro's I've met seem pretty decent and have no problem training round anyone else. The ones who act up like HMD has mentioned, soon get a name for themselves. BTW If you're going to act like a pre-madonna you better have the skills to back it up ;)

Re: I Hate To Do This HitmanDonny, But Your Boy Bernard Dunne...........
Why has no one mentioned the fact that Munroe turned down the chance to fight Cordoba? What is Dunne supposed to do,he is not responsible for Munroe's career. He got the chance and he took it.Why do you guys insist that Munroe deserves to get a world title shot more.He would not fight Dunne,he would not fight Cordoba!
Just for the record Munroe's opposition to date have a combined record of, wins - 186, losses - 176, whereas Dunne's opposition's record is, wins - 342, losses - 129. Yet all I hear is how Dunne has "done nothing" to deserve it, what has Munroe done that's any better. His level of opposition since winning the EBU belt has been average. You guys act like because Dunne got stopped by Martinez that he does not deserve to move on with his career.I don't get it!

No, it's just a bit random to bring that level of statistic into it unless you've got a vested interest usually. Sooooooo... are you Brian Peters? ;)
Their respective performances against Martinez are what divides them for most people, you can basically scratch the other fights. No one could deny that Munroe has had to come from more humble beginnings in his career than Dunne (he is/was a binman for christ's sake) & I think that is another reason people like him more. I can't say I actually dislike Dunne, he seems alright to me & I hope he beats Cordoba, but I would fancy Munroe to outbox him. Don't see either doing anything on the world stage though because they're in WAY too much of a tough division

No I'm not Brian Peters either lol!You cannot boil down two boxer total professional careers based on how they dealt with 1 guy!Dunne didn't get the chance to show his skill against Martinez and Munroe was not that convincing in his last fight against Martinez so I don't see how you can say that Munroe outboxes Dunne, that dosen't make sense!
Just think that it's strange how everything Dunne has achieved is discredited and Munroe is praised by all for doing nothing spectacular.

The thing is, the one common opponent is often the best way to compare two guys. I didn't actually see the last fight although I heard it was more convincing than their first fight where I thought he solidly outboxed him. Simple fact is Dunne got KO'd by Martinez in a round & it clearly wasn't a case of Munroe going into his shell to survive, so their respective performances do raise questions. Anyway as it is, Dunne is the one with a world title shot, so despite what most of us think, his career is on a higher level right now

Re: I Hate To Do This HitmanDonny, But Your Boy Bernard Dunne...........
It's a bit silly to slate Munroe's opposition considering he twice beat the bloke that sparked Dunne in one.
If Dunne had the European title I doubt he would be taking this "world" title shot. He is a BIG underdog against Cordoba - and what happens if he loses?
Munroe can carryon earning a few quid defending his Euro title. ;)

I am not slating Munroe's opposition,I am responding to the comments saying that Dunne has not done anything to deserve a title shot and Munroe has!Way too much is being made of the loss to Martinez,he is a 3 round fighter and easy to outbox,Dunne got cocky against him, that was his mistake but Munroe beating Martinez does not equal Munroe beating Dunne.
What has Munroe making a few quid got to do with anything,It's not a competition between Dunne and Munroe to see who can make the most money!

Cordoba will almost certainly KO Dunne and would almost certainly beat Munroe should they fight.
Munroe NOT fighting Cordoba is a smart move at this time. ;)

Sir - Just one point.
I've seen all of his opposition.
All that Dunne has fought are decent fighters that are now years past prime and boxers with padded records from south america.
This is the truth.

You mean Miss not Sir! I have seen all his opposition and I would not call Esham Pickering,Yuri Veronin,Cristian Faccio,Damien Marchiano,David Martinez, plus all the guys he fought in the US, past their prime, not when he fought them anyway! You have a personal dispute with Dunne so I don't put much stock in what you say about him.
