Klitschko files complaint !!!
WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has filed a complaint against the WBC at the International Court of Arbitration for Sport to try to avoid making two mandatory defenses in a row. Klitschko is slated to face mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Gomez on March 21, with the winner to face ex-champ Oleg Masklaev within 120 days. Klitscho prefers to make a more lucrative voluntary defense after the Gomez fight, saying “the fight with Maskaev won’t be interesting for me or the spectators.”

Damn right...screw Maskaev...what did he do to earn another titleshot?

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
I'm with klits on this one..who wants to see him curb stomp maskev ?? Waste of time.

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
He knows he will have to fight him but does not want to look bad in the eyes of the fans so he is using this ploy. No way will he give up the title.

Maskaev filed a lawsuit against the WBC for not following their own rules in regards to the purse split in the Sam Peter fight. (The champ is supposed to get 70% or so for title fights that go to purse bid; however, Don King successfully lobbied Jose Sulliman to declare that Peter should get a 50/50 split.) As a part of the settlement of the law suit Maskeav gets the next titles shot.

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
So he earned it by getting in the ring against Peter and getting KOed. :)

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
Vitali only has a few fights left in him.....I doubt he wants to waste time fighting guys like JCG and Maskaev.
Valuev is the #1 target for Vitali....but that will never happen as Nicolay is a little bitch and won't fight a good heavyweight

Yeah mate, Vitali needs to put Valuev on his arse. Strange how even after Valuev lost he and his guys are still too scared to risk him in a competitive fight:confused:It would make a lot of cash.

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
Vitali is quite right not to want this fight forced apon him.
He is making a mandatory against Gomez so should not be expected to fight Maskaev in 120 days. 12 months Yes but not 3.
He was honourable in agreeing to fight Gomez when he could easily have dumped the belt and fought Haye.
Well done Vitali - tell the WBC where to put it.
-
Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
I'd prefer Vitali to target someone like Chagaev if he gets by Gomez!
Maskaev ain't done sh*t & would be pointless!!!
-
Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
Wait are you guys sure Vitali isn't ducking him? Considering all the Klitschko hate on here, I am surprised nobody is complaining about him doing this.
-
Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
I support him on this...Vitaly Klitschko is the most dangerous man in the HW division (Though these days that says little)...He hits like a train, he can box, he has a jaw of steel and he LIKES to beat guys up......
It would be a blow out for him to face Maskaev...I think even the WBC knows it thats why the 120 day time period maybe?...It would be nothing more then a sparring session...
Vitaly wants to clean up the biggest names in the division then retire.....
Credit as well for not wanting to give shit fights in a shit division

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
Pure un adulterated politics with Maskaev even being talked of.His shot was with Peter.....he lost.Vitali spanked Peter.Time to wash the hands and get that division back to a respectful and fan friendly state with some forward motion.

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
In short Vitali has to clear up the mess that the WBC made and waste his time on this pointless fight.

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
this situation reminds me of when lewis didnt want to fight ruiz, it does nothing for them & doesnt bring a whole lot of money.cant remember who lewis fought instead? but he got stripped didnt he?

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
Good for VK.....I would not want to see Maskaev get KO'ed again....
I would be interested in seeing VK and Valuev.....It would be a sight seeing Valuev getted floored..........
-
Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
Good for VK...These damn alphabets titles are horrible with their mandatories. You think they would want the biggest name out there to challenge their guys. I wish I had a million dollars so I could get my mandatory. =)

Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
Does he really need the belt? Why not vacate and take fights he wants? Outside of fighting his brother he has to be the most lucrative and meaningful fight out there for any HW
-
Re: Klitschko files complaint !!!
Putting my Klitschko fanship aside here,
I back VK on this. Fair enough the Gomez fight has to happen and I am looking forward to it. Maskaev on the other hand, is finished. He had his run, he got smashed by Peter, Peter got smashed by VK.
Maskaev seems like the old man who doesn't want to end his dream. Everyone needs to move on. He has little to no chance of beating VK anyway. The fight would be just another fanshow for VK, not a competition.
I want to see VK go after Valuev and Chagaev. These two 'bums' have dominated a small section of the HW division and it's a disgrace. VK needs to knock these two guys out and get the spotlight, which they don't deserve off them.
I hope Wlad goes after Haye and takes his head off and then after Arreola. The two brothers reign supreme until retirement of either.

You should ask Vitali the same question. I agree a Maskaev fight wouldn't be the best but didnt Vitali benefit from this when he fought Sam Peter? And people were actually behind it, so Vitali says it isnt right this time, and people agree?
No offense but Vitali should be asking himself how he got that title shot in the first place.

Maskaev pointed this out in a recent press release, that when he was champion he had two back to back mandatories: Peter and Klitschko, however, he never made it to the Klitschko fight as he was knocked out by Peter.
I wish fighters were more active these days. Back in the day when fighters fought ever 2 or 3 months, two mandatories would be no sweat.
Personally, I think Vitali should throw his little green paper title in the garbage.

Wasnt he champion emiritus?
I think that there is something to be said for being clear best heavyweight (aside from Wlad) out there. With his age and the shape of the division, why should he have ot fight shit fights when he has only a few fights left?

Alright so all you have to do as a fighter is have a title and get injured and then you can come back years later and get an automatic title shot?
Does that mean that if Lennox Lewis comes out of retirement they have to take away Vitali's title since Lewis was Champion Emiritus before him?
Personally i've never heard of that happening for a fighter aside from the time they did it for Vitali.
And why "shouldn't" he fight his mandatories? Who else is he gonna fight? There's only 2 fights in the heavyweight division actually worth talking about, you actually want him to do those first and then what happens to the heavyweight division? Nothing.
They are gonna draw out these "big fights" to give them a chance to build up other fighters to bring interest back into heavyweight boxing where its pretty much non existant.
if anything if Vitali beats these guys then we don't have to hear from them again.

When a guy who is always injured probably has less than 2 fights left in him, yes. He should fight the very best. He shouldn't have to hope that his body stays together for another 4 years to build a legacy.

The only fights at heavyweight causing any kind of stir.
Are potential fights with Haye and Arreola.
Wladimer seems to be getting Haye or Arreola. So where does that leave Vitali? What other heavyweights can he fight that means absolutely anything?
Matter of fact tell me who the absolute best in the heavyweight division is that he can fight

Valuev would be nice. Or whoever out of the two you named that Wlad doesn't fight.
