Who is the P4P no1 today?
There is quite a debate going on after Marquez's great win last night as to who is p4p no1 right now. I'll stick with Manny personally but I'll stick the Rings top 10 in the poll and you can vote for who you want.
If your no1 is not in the list I'll be interested to hear who it is!

Marquez was in one of the best fights we have seen for a while and people are pumped with his performance, but come on Pac is still the man Dela Hoya might well have been over the hill but before the fight Pac was nearly a 3/1 underdog and this was at 147, Pac has a win over JMM aswell, no matter what anyone thinks he got the win. Only way to settle this is a third fight. But for me Pac is still number 1 clearly.

Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
Beating a babyboy who never won a fight against active elite fighters doesn't mean you're the best in the world.

Beating David who struggled against Silverio Ortiz who was robbed in that fight in one of the worst robberies ever. Diaz also struggled vs. Montana in his previous fight and won a MD fight where Montana was able to tag him and push him around.
I don't even have to mention the ODLH thing that was just crazy to think ODLH could perform well at 147.
JMM has become the lineal champ not some title holder.
He beat the lineal champ in Joel and he beat the #2 rated guy by The Ring becoming the man in the div.

Oh yeah, and Casa dominated Katsidis and Santa Cruz (the Santa Cruz that KOed by David Diaz). Right?
Btw, 28 of 30 of boxing writters picked DLH to dominate Pacquiao.

They must be the stupidest 30 writers ever.
ANYONE who thought ODLH had a shot vs. Pac clearly wasn't analyzing ODLH.
From day 1 when the fight was announced I said him fighting at that weight is just insane and he had zero chance in my books.
Casa didn't dominate Kats but he showed how great champions are never out of a fight and he did KO, Kats.
The Santa Cruz fight was a robbery clearly SC deserved the win but your pulling at strings now SC & David at their best are C class fighters neither has championed or reigned as champs. ODLH was and is just fighting the same way Duran fought at the end of his career when it's clearly over but you can't let it go.
Both Casa & Juan Diaz have reigned supreme and have been long standing current champs.

Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
I voted JMM juzz because he juzz had his big win.
JMM & Pac are defentely are top two IMO they are tied on No.#1.
-
Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
Pac is #1 - Pac still owns a win over Marquez and Pac is still fighting/KO'ing top level competition like Marquez. This win doesnt warrant taking the top spot from Pac....Keep in mind Nate Campbell also beat Juan.......Juan wasnt bullet proof...JMM is #2
-
Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
Pacquiao is still the best, and he beat Marquez in their last fight if that isn't evidence enough, I don't know what is.
Obviously it is close, but I still could arguably see Hopkins slide infront of JMM. If you are like me and think Hopkins beat Calzaghe, and at very least a razor close decision seperated the two either way, after he already beat Wright, and Tarver. Then he went on to beat Pavlik. These guys except maybe Tarver are all higher up p4p than the guys JMM fought besides Pacquiao who DID beat him. It was a good close fight, but Pacman clearly won it.

You mean like David Diaz and ODLH?;D:rolleyes: Here we go again.
So David Diaz and ODLH were bullet proof?
FACT: Marquez last opposition was way higher level than Pacman's

If you are like me and thought Marquez beat Pac then you'd understand why Marquez is P4P no.1 ;)

Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
Just to do my part in debasing the legitimacy of this poll, I voted Hatton.
If I had to choose between Pac and JMM though, I would pick Pac.
-
Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
Though not in his prime who would consider ODLH a lesser fighter than both Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor. And for the record even if JMM skillwise is a better than PAC, PAC has inflicted the more damaging shots to Marquez on both fights. PAC beat JMM already regardless on how close it is. So obviously PAC is P4P number 1.
No disrespect to both Casamayor and Juan Diaz, IF Manny beats Hatton I think that is more of a feat than kayo wins over an aging Casamayor and a less than perfect Juan Diaz.
-
Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
Regardless of seeing p4p ratings as pretty subjective and mushy,I'll say Marquez.Simply put,he is a better & more well rounded fighter in all around skills department.Pac has a nip & tuck win over him but Imo it has to be deeper than that. Now lets see what Pac does in with Hatton next up.
-
Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
Manny Pac is still P4P number 1 IMO.
I can't believe I've just said that, SaddoBoxer would be proud.
-
Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
I voted for JMM mainly because it puts PAC fans on the defensive and makes them say funny things like David Diaz was the Lightweight champ.

Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
well if we talk skill wise on active fighters then i vote bernard on that.. jmm beat diaz so does nate.. im not taking away what jmm did last night but still pac does what nobody can do to jmm today.. if pac beat old timers he is fighting old washup but if jmm beat an old one he is beating a legend.. double standard? maybe..

Yup, and why is that When JMM beat Casamayor nobody mentioned that Joel was not in his prime anymore, and as if Juan Diaz is undefeated;). I might say kayoing both guys was impressive though.

Good points. I'd never thought about it before but people do talk about Casa as a huge win for JMM and ODLH as an old washup win for Pac.

I can attest that MOD Mick picked PAC to win by decision since we're only very few who predicted a PAC win over Hoya... but I can't remember he said Oscar had zero chance...

Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
I say PAC still the no. 1 P4P... PAC showed his P4P versatility when he jumped one division to another division, from the low of 105 lbs. to a high of 147 lbs... PAC showed he can compete in the top level of many different weight division...
BTW, Thanks Mr. Lefty for recognizing my boy... ;)

Most of the time I'm in respectful mood (I just addressed you as "Mr. Lefty" in above post)... but if you start things up, I can easily label you as a "gay moron"... Which one do you like gay or moron?? or both??

Come on be fair now Mick. Oscar as a HUGE favorite to beat Pac Man.
His win over Marquez coupled with his win over Marquez himself makes him #1 and Marquez #2.

The odds on Oscar drifted between -200 (1/2) and -150 (2/3) that's not a huge favorite, that's more slightly favored.
-
Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
It doesn't really matter what the odds were before the fight. The guys who set the odds were banking on a relatively Oscar-like Oscar turning up for the fight and that didn't happen. Manny beat a shell of a fighter. Having said that I think he'll beat Hattton. But then Floyd will beat Manny.

Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
At this point, I still consider PAC as the current no. 1 P4P boxer. Starting from PAC-JMM rematch fight, PAC's win over JMM, David Diaz and Hoya is far greater achievement than JMM's win over Casa and Juan Diaz... So JMM didn't overtake PAC just yet...

You are soo biased that you have not a valid opinion to your name. If Pac wasn't fighting, you wouldn't even watch boxing. Why the fuck would anyone care what you said??

D diaz&ODLH wins are an achievement only on paper but not were it really matters in the actual fights themselves, I said it before and ill say it again Pac has had a nice and smooth ride (since the JMM fights) for now and Hatton is going to test him big time.

Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
I've just noticed something.
"Who says JMM is number 1?"
Mexican (or mexican-american): JMM is numero uno!!!!
Filipinos: Pac is number 1!!!
The bandwagons (after Pac demolished DLH): Pac is number 1!!!
The bandwagons (after JMM destroyed Diaz): JMM (edited) is numero uno!!!
That sums it all.
I better trust Ring Magazine to do the decision of who's number 1.

Re: Who is the P4P no1 today?
Pac has been ducking the greek Mighty Mike for years. I say that until he cleans up this business, which he even admitted he was avoiding, he is still number 2.
Pac has been playing darts and all sorts of shit to avoid Mike. His time will come and the victory will be worth the wait.
