I wouldn't have De La Hoya on anyone's list. One boring fight his entire career.
But I add Chris John from what I've seen.

and with that list goes your credibility on this forum, David Diaz although being utter shit does try to exchange and make it a fight, Tarver is boring now, but he's had good fights against top opposition (both Johnson fights, and his first fight with Jones), Hassim Rahman used to always be fun, just wondering on how the fuck he'd get KO'd was always exciting lol, and the biggest WTF on your list is DLH, man was never really in a boring fight, and besides the Pacquiao fight, was always in a competitive fight, if you're expecting every fight to be Morales/Barrera, R.Marquez/Vazquez, Pacquiao/JMM, well dude you have no appreciation for the true sport of boxing....
.....oh yea welcome to the forum

Re: Most boring fighters list

Damn Master, you're a human boxing almanac. I guarantee you have a lot of these youngsters thinking you're making that shit up.
Maske for sure.
Ruiz no doubt.
Let's not forget Michael Moorer.
DLH - c'mon, that's rediculous.
Byrd was actually pretty entertaining early in his career; it was once he tried to take on the real heavyweights that he put people to sleep.

Couldn't disagree more with you on these 2.
When I think of these 2 the word boring doesn't come to mind especially for Arce.

These guys quickly come to mind...
Zahir Raheem
Sven Ottke
Julio Leer
Henry Maske
John Ruiz
Johnny Nelson
Nikolay Valuev

vs. Castro both
vs. Alvarez
vs. Makepula
vs. Rojas
vs. Concepcion (contender for FOTY, last yr. IMO)
vs. Vic
For Oscar:
vs. Valenzuela
vs. Maywethear (Jeff)
vs. Avelar
vs. Paris
vs. Carter
vs. Molina
vs. Rivera
vs. Quartey
vs. Leija
vs. Gatti
vs. Vargas
vs. JCC both
vs. Carr
vs. SSM both fights
vs. Campas
vs. Mayorga

Re: Most boring fighters list
The new version of Taylor has to be up there, that didnt used to be the case, but it is now
-
Re: Most boring fighters list
who said Michael Moorer?
Moorer at Light Heavyweight was a beast, was a world champ and moved up to become the undisputed heavyweight champion by beating Holyfield.
He is in a class with Spinks and Roy jones Jr in that regard. Why would anyone say he was booring?
Are we talking about current fighters?
because that list up there for the most part must stand for the fighters last fights or something and not their entire career.
Unless De La Hoya vs Quartey was a snoozefest...
moorer vs cooper
YouTube - Bert Cooper vs Michael Moorer Part 1/3 SLUGFEST!

Re: Most boring fighters list
I'm gonna say Whitaker at 135. He was so dominant that after the 2nd round you knew he was gonna win, it became a matter of would it be a ko or decision... & more often than not it went the distance!
Whitaker was a great fighter but never really created any excitement because he was so much better than everyone else!

Re: Most boring fighters list
As far as today,I have to go with Spinks.Just does nothing for me.Maybe Yuri Foreman, excellent pure boxer but the crickets can be heard above the crowd
Virgil Hill....had a few surprises but mostly stick and move, rinse & repeat
Derrick Gainer
Keith Holmes
Larry Donald
Greg Richardson
Melchor Cob Castro
Richard Frazier
Sven Ottke
Lonnie Smith
Henry Akiwande.....he may belong more so in the fugly category
-
Re: Most boring fighters list
The one and only John Ruiz.
Chris Byrd
Winky Wright
Cory Spinks
I know I will get alot of hater's for this one but Bernard Hopkins.
All of these guy's have been mentioned but they are the top dog's for the most boring fighter's

Re: Most boring fighters list
Hello,
pick any 10 heavyweight fighters, name or not, from the last 5 years and you have a pretty strong list of the most boring fighters around. i remember there used to be athletes who would box at that weight...

Re: Most boring fighters list
I rewatched Pac: Barrera 2 last night and was reminded of just how boring and tactical the fight actually was. You think of those two fighters as being so exciting to watch and the expectation for that fight was big for me, being a Barrera fan. Well, it was rubbish. No point watching it again really. I still think Barrera fought totally within himself and could have done a lot more. Manny Pac wasn't himself at all, but neither was Barrera.
I don't regard those two as boring fighters though. Boring fighters for me include Hopkins, Ruiz, Wlad Klitschko and Taylor. There are probably loads of others but those guys stand out right now in my head.

I was not trying to be clever I have just had the misfortune to watch their crap fights.
Name a more boring fight that Johnny Nelson v Carlos de Leon.
And to have the referee object to the opponent of Sven Ottke hitting him too hard tells all you need to know about him. ;D

I think that is Jorge Arce's resume there Mick...He said Francisco Arce (Though he is mot even near world class caliber to even consider to be on the list of guys considering he is not a mainstream fighter for the opinion to be debated)...
Now if it was Jorge Arce and he was on a boring list then I would suggest watching a new sport for him
-
Re: Most boring fighters list
I don't know what's funnier.
The fact that "Panchito" Arce is in ANY type of list in a boxing board or the fact that I thought it was Jorge... :dontknow:
 Thanks Daxx.

Re: Most boring fighters list
can't sleep? just watch, Jermaine Taylor Vs Cory Spinks, Ossie Ocasio Vs Carlos De Leon, or Sergei Liakovich Vs Shannon "The Ass Cannon" Briggs
-
Re: Most boring fighters list
1-Nikolay Valuev - not that i completely blame him, but he clearly just does not have any technical boxing ability therefore has to fight risk free and pour the jab in order to take a decision, valuev will never be value for money because the day he does decide to abandon his strategy he`ll get knocked out!!
2-Sven Ottke - the most overrated boxer of all time and anyone that has ever seen him will also tell you that. Ottke would wrestle his opponent for 12 solid rounds and use every single trick in the book. He would also spend half the fight crying foul to byest german refs every time a solid punch landed. I swear to god when he fought robin reid the ref told robin to "stop hitting him so hard"
3-Junior Witter - doesnt like to take chances despite his ability and even when he knew he was going to lose a decision against bradley he refused to take any chances. His fight agains corley was quite possibly the worst 140pound fight of all time.
4-Audley Harrison - Boy this guy could talk the talk but when it came to it audley floped completely at heavyweight because he just could not pull the trigger and even in the face of complete adversity refused to adopt an approach that would of at least seen him lose with some grace.
5-Matt Skelton - boooooooooooooring, all skelton ever does is wrestle his opponent onto the ropes and rests his head on them for 12rounds. Should of been thrown out against chagaev as it got borderline ridiculous.

Thanks. I've been having some trouble with the zzzzz's lately. :appl:

Re: Most boring fighters list
Hey the SL v. Briggs fight at least had a dramatic and unexpected ending.
-
Re: Most boring fighters list
Chris Byrd-Davaryl Williamson is still the most boring and awful fight ive ever sat through. It mades Holyfield-Valuev look like Ward-Gatti. When the commisioner has to go to tell the corners their fighter needs to throw punches, thats pretty bad.

Ha Ha ha ha...Don't worry I actually went to boxrec to do a double take thinking Jorge might be Arces middle name and his first name was Fransisco and all these years I was missing something:-\......
I don't even know who the hell Panchito is:confused:

Re: Most boring fighters list
Ruiz, Winky, and Cory Spinks are horrible...
B hop can be really boring too.....
-
Re: Most boring fighters list
Paul Vaden... and the comeback version of Larry Holmes ...stick jab,shuffle-shuffle,grin,stickjab,shuffle-shuffle,right hand, lay on ropes, stick jab...talk to audience, etc.

haha that made me laugh as I instantly thought back to his barnburners with Evander and Chagaev and have to agree he is possibly the most boring fighter in the history of boxing.
And yet becuase of his height and freakish appearance he's still kind of compelling.
In regards to De La Hoya, maybe the OP is just saying that Oscar as a personality bores him to tears, which to be fair he does me.
Can't deny he hasn't been in some great fights but I just have no interest in anything he has to do or say.
-
Re: Most boring fighters list
De La hoya is borin and one of the most overrated fighters in boxing history. Every time he steps up and fights a white or black fighter he loses, but he is mexican so let me stop talking about him before i get banned.
If you mean the most boring fighters of all time then Ali would be on the list. He grabs and held just as much as John Ruiz does now.
Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko are boring to watch unless you are a european and you enjoy seeing a 6'7 or so fighting fight a blown up cruiserweight and take 9 rounds to knock him out.
Bernard Hopkins is pretty boring to watch usually.
Lennox Lewis was boring to watch most of the time
Joe Calzaghe was boring to watch.
How about i just sum it up and say most european fighters are boring to watch.

Well, it seems boxing is boring for you, better switch to darts.

Re: Most boring fighters list
Lennox Lewis for sure. So boring. I just watched him and Rachman in their first fight. The commentators "Geez, I wish he'd keep his hands up! Why is he doing that?" BANG!!! LOL
Floyd Mayweather Jr
Winky Wright
B-Hop
Cory Spinks
Wlad Klitschko
