This IMO is very, very bad for Roach and Team Pac.
A month to go in the biggest fight of Pac's career, and Roach(Pac's high profile mouthpiece) is submerging himself in The biggest controversy boxing has seen in years, could spell a disaster of a distraction...
What Margarito has been found guilty to have done, trancends the excitement of the heart stopping Hatton-Pac bout.. Thats not good :-\

I think Roach will receive backlash for this. He probably agreed before the test results were known, so I wonder if he is regretting his decision now.
I have no clue how Roach could think that Margacheato didn't know what was in his wraps. :vd:
I hope he likes Mexico, because with Golden Boy leaning on the State Athletic Commission, I don't think they will rightfully allow Margacheato to get his license back.
At least they better not give it back to him. :furious2:
I don't know what to make of this. It is up to Roach, but I would hesitate to work with Margarito after all that has passed in recent months. :-\

Okay I think Margarito's suspension is fair. I do not think that he should be banned. Now if he killed a fighter in the ring then he should have been sent to prison. After his years suspension is up and the next time he fights then he should be watched over like an eagle until his career is over. If Freddy wants to train him then so be it, who are we to determine how someone should make a living? Didn't Jack Dempsey have a glove controversy? But we call him an all time great. As of now Antonio has been caught and is paying for his misdeeds.
Until fighters are banned for life then this kind of controversy will go on and on. If Margarito has to be the fall guy then so be it. Roach is a top trainer and he should be setting an example by distancing himself from people like Margarito.

Also he has been cleared for his other fights so the only thing they have on him was the last fight were he did not even use the gloves. Roach is a very integrity type of person, if that story is true then he must see something at least to do it for.
At the very least there will be no hand wrap situations but im guessing Roach is one of those people that wouldn't blame Margarito for what happened but his trainer and hand wrappers.
If the story is true Margarito will probably be there as a sparrign partner for Pac against Hatton
I used to like Roach but recently it seems that he is becoming more hollywood and is more concerened with his own legacy by taking big gambles that keep his name out there. He is a great trainer though.

Sounds like Roach is sure he isnt. Fair play to Roach saying if its intentional then Margarito should be banned for life. But one thing is for sure, there will be no "mistakes" under Freddies supervision.Quote:

Roach would be violating the order if he let Margarito spar with Pacquiao in California. And even if it was done outside of California, they could say he was violating the spirit of the order, so there is no way it would happen.Quote:

Roach didn't exactly ooze with confidence about believing him if you ask me. Plus at the end, he said twice that he doesn't trust anybody in boxing, so how can he trust what Margacheato was saying?
Of course Margacheato was almost in tears, the cheat got caught, and now he doesn't want to pay the price for it.
Roach said that Margacheato said that Capetillo has been wrapping his hands for 10 years, so is he expecting us to believe that he doesn't know when there is something different after 10 years? Or has he been loading them for 10 years?
I still don't, nor will I ever believe anything that piece of $hit Margacheato has to say. He knew.

Even Pac has come out and said that Margacheato would know.

Roach is possibly my favorite coach/cornerman. Well, not possibly, he is, for many reasons. Thus said, I would be very disappointed if he would accept to work for Margarito, I am not convinced it's real yet and I would like to wait for further evidence and a final comment on that before fully landing in that history but if ever it happens... it's wrong.
why? Not because Margarito cheated. I could, if I was a professional trainer, work with a guy who did cheat by the past, looking for some form of redemption. I couldn't with Margarito because what he did was threatening the life of another of his comrades, that I have a problem with and to me, it goes beyond cheating. To me, it says that the guy is just a butcher and doesn't give any respect for nothing, that he understands the dangers of boxing and has no respect for it. My little brother had a cranial trauma, not because of boxing but it is somehow the same kind of injuries with the same impacts and I can assure you that what he has to live forever with, I do not even wish it to the people I hate the most. It is ... well, heartbreaking and I can'T conceive that an idiot, for the sake of his own legacy could play with human life like that so care free.
For that reason, yeah, I will have a problem and a deception if Roach train MArgarito.
I'm inclined to believe Roach, I don't think he would put his reputation on the line like that no matter how much money was on offer. He seems to be a guy concerned about his place in history (maybe related to his Parkinson's) and I don't think he would risk tarnishing it if he didn't truly believe Margarito. Let's remember Nazim Richardson and Mosley both also said they didn't believe Margarito knew. I still haven't taken a definitive stand on this issue, but I'm inclined to believe Margarito, based on what Nazim & Shane have said, and just my gut instinct.
Also Roach says he was very aware of how his hands are wrapped, but that not everyone is like that. I can definitely feel the difference between how I wrap my hands and how my trainer does it, but I know two of the other guys at my gym, can't tell the difference no matter how they are wrapped or even if there is some gauze in there. Everyone is different in terms of noticing things. Some people will probably focus more on something mentally when their hands are being wrapped and will notice the slightest difference, and some might have their head somewhere else and not notice at all, which I suspect may be Margarito, as IMO he is a thick bastard ;D
