Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
If this fight isnt gonna be on British Tv i will be fucking pissed off, his has to be fight of the year candidate, I think Hennesey is proving to be a second rate promoter if he cant sell this fight to Sky,Setanta or ITV, Froch needs to fuck him off, Froch is our only current World Champ.
No live TV deal has yet been agreed to show Froch’s battle with Taylor, an incredible situation bearing in mind his status as Britain’s only world champion and the fact that he is fighting such a formidable opponent.
Promoter Mick Hennessy said: “The TV companies have let down not only Carl Froch, but also British boxing because to not show this fight live is a travesty.
“I am hoping a deal can still be made, but when you bear in mind some of the rubbish that the TV companies put on, the fact that they have not backed Carl to the hilt is very frustrating. He is the best super-middleweight in the world and a credit to his country. For his fight not to be shown would be nothing short of a disgrace.”

Surely Setanta will pick this fight up?

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
Buncey is trying to get setanta to get the fight hope he does.

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
From what I've heard from various other forums is that Henessey pushed for it to be on Sky Box Office but Sky won't commit to another PPV before Pacquiao/Hatton. Plus I don't think Froch v Taylor would make the numbers they're looking for, even though it's a fight I really want to see.
Hopefully Buncey and Setanta will pull it out of their arse somehow at the last second like Marquez v Diaz, I reckon they'll do it ;)

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
Also there's a good chance that Setanta or somebody else eventually shows it. As it gets closer to the fight the amount the promoters would ask for UK TV rights plummets. Somebody could well end up picking it up for buttons with a couple of days to go.

:lolhaha: Fraud can't even be seen in his own country? Ha! That's to much

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
I'm really surprised by this. I'm by no means a fan of Froch, but if nothing else he's a very exciting fighter. Britain has always struck me as being a country that is happy to support its boxers, and in particular its champions.

That's true. But i think deep down inside the UK knows Fraud is crap.

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
there's no way this won't be on UK tv come fight night - no way.
For argument's sake let's just say it isn't shown back in the UK then it will just highlight everything what's wrong with the sport and the lack of mainstream TV exposure.

LOL
I mean whats the mighty " CARL FROCH " goona say now!! I hate the guys attitude, but he is exciting to watch, i cant wait for the fight, it is quite embarrasing if our only current World Champ is not on any channel in a big fight in the States, sort of says how popular and known Carl Froch is!!

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
Setanta will most definitely pick this up, I think Hennessy overestimated how much Froch was worth & messed it up. If not Setanta it might end up on ITV4, which would say a lot. But realistically, Setanta will pick it up they always do, they're probably just waiting for Hennessy to drop his demands. I'm hoping that Setanta gets the Premiership rights away from Sky as that also gives em more money towards buying big boxing fights.
-
Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
ITV said a long time ago they can't afford to show fights in the early hours.
If Froch had been regular on Sky or Setanta i'm sure it wouldn't have been an issue ;)

Maybe boxing needs a shot in the arm... Any mainstream exposure, be it on mainstream news magazine or mainstream TV I think will help boxing...

Froch Plans To Down Taylor For TV Network Revenge - Boxing News
Give Froch his credit, like he says in that article, he probably could have fought a no-name in Nottingham and received domestic television coverage, but as his first title defense he chose to travel as an underdog to the US to fight a tough opponent. He's doing a lot more than Kessler is these days.

Exactly.
Whether or not people like Froch he should be praised for taking this path. If he loses he will get slaughtered from all sides.

If he loses - say in a split decision or on points but closely - and gives a good showing of himself, he shouldn't be slaughtered at all. He should be credited for taking the fight on foreign soil and Taylor should grant him a rematch. If not, he should land another title fight with Bika.
If he is blown out, then to a certain extent, he will deserve the criticism because he is consistently arrogant, disrespectful, and talks too much trash.

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
Wonder what his reaction would be if he lost?

Taylor is a big step up for Froch and I give him credit for taking the fight. However, he has implied that he wants to be remembered in the same light as other great British champs so this is a fight he needs in order to attain that kind of recognition. He's in his early 30s, so I can't imagine he has a ton of time left in the sport and as such taking an easy fight in his hometown would do nothing to secure him big paydays and the accolades he seems to lust after.
If he beats Taylor, the 3rd best SMW in the world, I will give him all kinds of credit. Like you said, even if he's very competitive in defeat he deserves to be commended.
I don't think he should be derided even if he does get blown out. True, he runs his mouth and that has made him unpopular, but many fighters do so. Even if he does get starched by Taylor or completely outclassed, I'll still give him respect for taking the step up in competition and defending his belt against a world-class opponent. I still don't like Froch and I'll be cheering for Taylor to beat him, but I don't really see how he can be looked down upon for losing this fight.

Premiership rights are split into six packages. Setanta used to have two, Sky had the other four. But in the latest auction Setanta lost one, so they're now on really shaky financial ground and don't have a lot of money to spend.

Froch is not worth ppv. He should be free on ITV even if it is at 3am.

Yeah, I know how it works, but the Premier League are trying to push for all 6 to be with Sky (this won't happen as it violates EU law of competition rights). Hopefully Setanta will find a way to get the other package, and make a bit more money. They should also look to invest in something like Italian football to bring other viewers in, as the German & Portuguese leagues just ain't doin it

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
This should be on the telly! I'm not a Froch fan by any means but it is a pretty big fight. The home punters deserve the opportunity to see domestic fighters on the world scene. A shame if only Radio 5 is covering it.

I think Froch will stop Taylor infact i'm convinced he'll batter him:cool:
Absolutely criminal if us Brits miss this and he's our only World Champ at present and was in my FOTY by a mile last year against Pascal.
ITV are skint so forget them, Sky won't touch him either which only leaves Setanta who are also in huge financial trouble.
Doesn't look to clever really
This will only spur him on and make him train harder imo.
Hopefully should be numerous live streams via the web anyway so the clever ones among us should get too see it!
P.S. Chantelle - Your Blonde mate is alright;D

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
Froch isn't the only British "world" champ, Smash.
Hatton is THE MAN at 140 and The Ring champ. Hatton has been stripped and given back his silly alphabet titles never lost any in the ring ;)

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
Didn't think Ricky held a strap of any worth:-\
Woodhall is giving Taylor absolutely no chance
BBC SPORT | Boxing | Woodhall predicts Froch victory

If Woodhall was a betting man he'd be shirtless.

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
I wouldn't give Taylor no chance, he has taken Hopkins to the deep end twice and held his own against a number of decent fighters in Winky and Pavlik second time out. Will be a tough fight for Froch, but there is likely no better time to try and take Taylor out. I don't think he looked sharp against Lacy and does blow hot and cold a lot. Should be a great scrap. Goes either way for me. Will be supporting Froch though, never been keen on Taylor.

he was battering Pavlik first time round. In fact had he finished him and not gassed when he had him hurt I think he would be very close to p4p#1 right now. I think he will destroy Froch, I hope not mind.

Re: Taylor v Froch not looking like its going to be on British TV!
Its a shame this fights not going to be on ITV, as the casual uk fan is going to miss out on a great fight for Froch. I think Froch takes this in convincing fashion, Taylor goes into his shell when the heats put on and Carl likes to bring it, I will be surprised if this goes the distance.
