Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
link --> Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't
Floyd Mayweather Jr. claims the only reason he returned to the ring with a fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, instead of Manny Pacquiao, is because Marquez called him out on live television. A familiar response from Floyd. He said the same thing back in 2007, when Ricky Hatton called him out on live televsion and Mayweather, also retired at the time, returned to stop Hatton and then went back into retirement. Mayweather presented his case to scribe Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.
“I’m fighting the guy who called me out,” Mayweather said. “Manny Pacquiao never called me out. You never heard him say that. But I was watching on TV and I heard Marquez call me out. So I said, ‘OK, if he wants some, he can have it.’ Any one of them, whoever, they know where to find me.”
Mayweather appears to be annoyed with the critics who continue to call his bout with Marquez a "physical mismatch." He told Iole that De La Hoya did the same thing in 2000 when he made Shane Mosley go from lightweight to welterweight, and then Oscar did a repeat last December when he made Pacquiao go from lightweight to welterweight. Mayweather and Marquez will clash at a catch-weight of 144-pounds.
“Why, if it’s good for Oscar, isn’t it good for me?” Mayweather asks.
“Marquez is one of the best fighters in the world. A lot of people, including me and including a lot of you in the media, think he beat Manny Pacquiao in both of them fights. So why do I have to hear this? It’s ridiculous.”

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
But why did PBF being so silent when Mosley, Paul Williams and Margacheato called him out before??
Oppsss...;) I heard you Floyd, Mosley, Paul Williams and Margacheato were not PPV attractions... JMM is more of a PPV attraction than Mosley and Margacheato...;D
-
Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
i dont blame him for not fighting williams or Cheato. I still think he shouldve chose mosley. who knows maybe if pac doesnt fight mosley maybe floyd will take in some consideration after he beats JMM and mosley hasnt sealed a fight with pac yet. i still think if Cotto beats Clottey floyd will fight Cotto. :)

Why did Mosley go silent when Mayweather was calling him out?
Mayweather went on and made a career without him and is now in a position to be the one called out not the one calling others out.
Mayweather has called out Shane before and it didn't happen. But I guess Floyd's been ducking Shane especially since he was the one calling him out.

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
this calling out excuse isn't a very good one, surprised Floyd's using it as its clear he hasn't fought everybody that's called him out.

Beat me too it didn't Shane Mosley say he was going on holiday or something like that ? something that the Floyd Mayweather Jr haters seem to wana forget.
Paul Williams is doing his thing at the higher weightclasses, and Antonio Margacheato ? who the hell cares about whether he called Floyd Mayweather Jr out ? he's dirty cheating SOB, who left a black eye on the sport.

Laugh all you want but i'd bet my life savings on Floyd Mayweather Jr, giving Manny Pacquiao a boxing lesson. Floyd Mayweather Jr is a better version of JMM.

I would not listen to Mayweather justifying himself as he contradicts himself all the time. Do not get too worked up with his crap.

Mayweather may have his critics for fighting Marquez but I am not one of them. IMO JMM beat Pac at least one of the two times they fought. If this is a "physical mismatch" with JMM, it will also be the same with Pac. Pac has beaten no one that Marquez would not have beaten as well. David Diaz, Oscar, Hatton, JMM beats them all. He might not KO Hatton as quick because he is a different type fighter but he would beat him by stopping him late or by decision. Marquez is actually fighting the better competition. Juan Diaz is a better lightweight than David Diaz and Floyd is much better at this stage than the other two mentioned above that Pac has fought. Floyd is actually pound for pound the best but because of inactivity Pac has the crown at the moment. So, you tell me who is letting it all hangout and is actually taking the tougher challenges? That would JMM!! Roach was smart to pick Marque names tailor made for the Pacman. Although Pac is talented, I by no means think he is any better all around fighter than Marquez. The only thing is Marquez's days are numbered as he isn't getting any younger.

Props to JMM for pursuing a very tough fight that I think he only have a 0.01% chance of winning... This is an unfair fight, a mismatch, a tune-up fight... Floyd enjoyed all the physical advantages over JMM that PBF is a heavy 4 to 1 favorite to defeat JMM...

same thing should be said for Mayweather/PAC, for all the reason stated above, but oh yea, although not even 2 years difference in age, Pacquiao has the "advantage" in "youth/age"

Some of you guys on here amaze me. Unfair, tuneup? ONE MORE TIME!! Pac got a very questionable decision over JMM and a draw, he is not much better as a fighter than JMM, if any! So, again, if Floyd/JMM is a mismatch then PAC/FLoyd would be considered one as well.

Mayweather has called out Shane before and it didn't happen. But I guess Floyd's been ducking Shane especially since he was the one calling him out.
They could have all cared less if Mayweather never came back. At no time even when he was full time and #1 P4P did anyone need or want PBF and it had nothing to do with his skill set.
He is boring, a lousy PPV attraction, he has carefully and I REPEAT CAREFULLY PICKED HIS OPPONENTS OVER THE YEARS, not to say he was scared of anyone but he did always manage to take the least dangerous bouts available in the perspective divisions since his 135lb days.
Floyd is fooling no one the reason he went with Marquez has nothing to do with him being called out or a fight with Manny not being able to be made or as a Warm up. Because no one not even PBF believes Marquez is a warm up.
Floyd took this fight to use as a measuring stick, Marquez has been Manny's biggest challenge and closest in beating him since Morales
Mayweather wants to see how much trouble Marquez gives him to get an idea on what Manny will be like
-
Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
If I were Mayweather I would explain that I feel Marquez beat Pacquiao twice (I do think that) and so I thought I would start there.
After that I would have nothing more to say about why I am not fighting Pac and spend my time making a big deal out of Marquez.

Your post is laughable to say the least. Do you remember not too long ago that JMM not only called out Pacquiao but basically begged him to fight him a third time? Pac went with none other than David Diaz, a very average 135 pounder for I am sure less money. So, no one can claim he was going after the best by avoiding Marquez, and he did avoid him. Next up were the skeletal remains of Oscar. THIS IS CALLED CAREFULLY PICKING YOUR OPPONENTS AS WELL when the obvious best fight at the time was JMM, certainly better than David Diaz. As far as Pac and Floyd fighting, I would say, his promoter, Arum, does not want any part of Floyd. That is why he has all ready stated that Pac should get more money if the two fight before Floyd fights Marquez and even a 50/50 split is not acceptable for a Floyd/Pac fight. He knows Floyd will never fight unless he gets at least 50/50, but Floyd will want more than 50/50. If Floyd does better than Pac versus JMM there is NO WAY he will not demand more than Pac or take less money. Floyd is very arrogant and considers himself to be the king and the fight will be very difficult to make and Arum knows this. You can call Floyd boring if you want, and I can agree with that to an extent at times, but Arum knows Floyd will use a boring, tactical style to beat Pac and I highly doubt he wants to see that occur.

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
Anyone who think's this fight is a warm up/foregone conclusion and writes Marquez off as a no-hoper is either a fucking idiot or is showing Marquez a massive amount of disrespect as a fighter. I'm guessing it's the former..
-
Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
p4pchamp. know your facts. pacquiao already has schedule to fight diaz even before his second fight with marquez happened. plus, pac was no longer comfortable fighting at jr. LW when he fought jmm. moving up and down to LW, FW, and jrFW was defo the right move for pac. btw, i agree that jmm is no tune up for fraud.

Excuse me. lol. i meant WW.. the welterweight division. its really hard to edit stuff especially when u r using a tiny cellphone.

Doesn't matter when it was scheduled he knew Maquez wanted to fight him and he didn't want none. He was just happy to have got the decision in the 2nd fight, which I won't argue with Pac getting the nod, but he could have picked better competition than David Diaz is my point. I personally think Marquez won the 2nd fight though. I'm also not defending Mayweather he hand picks as well.

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
That's the thing. jmm wanted a 3rd fight right away cuz he knew he lost a closed decision. it was a razor thin fight and it could have gone the other way, BUT there was no robbery. do u agree? i strongly believe that pac-jmm III will happen eventually, win or lose for jmm against floyd. heck, it took four years for pac-jmm II to happen, it wasnt pac's fault why the rematch took so long.

Yes, I can agree that there was no robbery in the 2nd Pac/JMM fight. It was a close fight, but I just hope JMM can give Mayweather a run for his money since I am paying to watch it. I have waited on fights before though counting the days only to be disappointed. We will see I guess.

The only thing laughable are your last 33 post, In case you don't know and it is obvious you don't, DLH went after Pacquiao not the other way around, Manny is the much much smaller man and jumped up 2 divisions to accept the challenge and to top it off he only had 1 fight at 135 so the combination of the 2 make it a pretty impressive feat.
Before the bout between Pacquiao and DLH no one was saying anything about DLH being washed up or drained in fact it was the opposite, it was all "Oscar is just too big" but because DLH could not handle making the weight Pacquiao all of a sudden went looking for a weaker DLH? Since when has anyone been the one to choose DLH as their opponent Oscar calls the shots in that dept.
And your excuse for the Hatton destruction is? Since Hatton was undefeated at 140 and had been the man in the division for the better part of 3 years without question but I suppose Manny cherry picked that fight as well?
A draw and a win over Marquez then Manny jumps a division up to fight a WORLD CHAMPION!!!! who at the time his only other loss was to Kendall Holt a massive puncher and the loss came at a higher weight class.....
I suppose PBF facing Gatti instead of any odf the other title holders at 140 was a better matchup right? A shot Gatti to top it off
PBF is now and always has been a lousy PPV draw FACT!!! The numbers don't lie sorry
Seems you spend a lot of time here hating on Pacquiao about 85% of your post thus far are about taking away from Mannys ability and trying to make him sound over rated....
Seems you are nothing more then a hater....Don't get me wrong a fan bou is just as bad but you make a fool of yourself by trying to make Pacquiao sound over rated and as if he is just a run of the mill fighter or if he avoided Marquez by not fighting a third fight right away
The fact PBF is such a lousy draw regardless of in ring skills shows to make money he is the one who needs to accept the biggest fights available
PBF retired did he not? Because he comes back the sport is supposed to stand still at his mercy? Sorry does not work like that and again he is not the draw so he is in no ay in a position to demand anything when it comes to splits
These guys can nget paid just as much in fights without Floyd
Where was old Money Mayweather when Williams, Margarito, Cotto were all available?

Mayweather wants to see how much trouble Marquez gives him to get an idea on what Manny will be like
Your post is laughable to say the least.

I think I have said Mayweather is guilty of picking his opponents before and if I am guilty of posting stuff about Pac as you say, SOME, not all, of his fans are just as guilty as they are the most biased I have seen. There was a thread on here about double standards at one time and this surely applies to a lot of Pac fans, not all. And just for the record I am not a Mayweather fan. I may respond further to your post tomorrow but at the moment I'm video gaming it up.

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
Dont hate on Pual Williams cause u can dance around the fact an duck an hide all the real fights u want. But the fact of the matter is,is when Margarita an Williams was challenging, calln out,Put big money up,whatever u wanna call it.Floyd was dancen wit the stars..Now chuckle that up..An on top of that he conveniently, comes outta retirement when one Paul Williams moved up an two Margarita is suspended. Now i didnt think u could just fight whoever challenges u or u want an be Champion or P4P..Or why do we have rankings?Just let everybody retire when a tough fighter is in front or back..An then chose who they wanna fight.Do u know how insane that sounds,How crazy would boxing be then.Everyone would be undefeated an P4P.But boxing dont work like that we have rankings i think Floyd should use it.Paul Williams only moved up becuase no one..I mean no one would fight him period.Shane was quite,Floyd Dancen,Margarita declined a rematch.I got a predicton Floyd fans..I bet he fights Marquez,a smaller guy wins at 144.An then get the fight he really wants PAC,another smaller guy at some weight below 147 win an retire.Wit the usual trash talk an all the wagon riders claimen he the best.Well i think not He's a paper champion wanna shut me up fhight the best in ur weight class.Williams has no problem moven down.An finally lets just say the smaller Marquez did call Floyd out. When will we see the smaller Money May call out a bigger opponent,or even someone his size?Im out yo.....

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
I really wish that Marquez kick Floyd's a..., although this will be very difficult. And, one of my biggest questions is how Marquez body will asimilate the weight gain in such a short period. In the case of the Pacman he increased weight very solid, but we need to see Marquez body. I really admire Marquez because he is a great warrior with a big heart and also is a great boxer. I think he can give troubles to Floyd, but let see how he manages the weight.

I have to rep you for at least admitting that you are a bit biased against Pac in past post.
I also agree there are double standars that apply to Pac nuthuggers.
There is a difference between being a fan and outright fanatic who refuses to see any short comings what so ever and Pac fans can be the worst

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
Excellent posting daxxkhan. The dlh-pac fight was a huge gamble for team pac. i myself picked de la hoya to win, and i'm sure u did too. nobody knew oscar was gonna show up that way.

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
Correct. DLH called Pacquiao out and Pac was more than happy to jump on the opportunity since DLH is Pac's idol and still is. The Hatton VS Pac fight is never considered cherry picked since it usually is pacquiao who fights BIGGER opponents. Remember Pac went UP to the lightweight to fight Diaz since he was from FW before. If moving UP is a lot easier then i guess Pac went the easiest road didn't he? LOL ;) Its true that Pac has his short-comings, heck he isnt even a very refined yet IMO BUT the point in his case is that hes constantly IMPROVING thats what makes him dangerous and awesome. I maybe a Pac-fan but am rational and logical. Heck i even give credit to PBF in youtube and here for being a good if not great defensive boxer but we gotta face facts that a defensive boxing match does not make a exciting match. We need guys like Pac to set the tone of a match and boxing in general. Like a fuel for the fire to keep boxing going. :)

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
Diaz isn't PAC's only cherry picked opponent, so were
Oscar Larios (a man who jumped up two divisions to face Manny, and was coming off of a TKO loss)
Fahsan 3K Battery (had 7 losses, 4 of them back to back and were his first four pro bouts)

Dude we already established that Diaz is NOT a cherry picked fight. Hello? Earth to ETM. Judging from your username im guessing your still bitter from ETM's retirement am i right?
Remember It was Pac who jumped UP weight NOT diaz. Plus the fact that Pac wasnt even groomed to fight big matches supposed to be since the first match that he made a name for himself was purely lucked with him to be a REPLACEMENT. And the replacement didnt disappoint seeing he beat the crap out of the champion he fought. (Forgot the name of the champion)
P.S. Thanks for the rep.

bitter? i gave Manny all the props in the world for his two wins over Morales, so get your shit straight, and Diaz was cherry picked seeing how he was the weakest FIGHTER at 135, whose two biggest wins were, a lucky knockout, and a controversial decision win against a shot Morales, hell his very next fight was a Majority Decision against an unknown with barely 20 pro fights, 4 of which were losses, and obviously Manny went up to take on Diaz, he wanted Diaz's trinket, same thing Mayweather did with Gatti, doesn't mean it wasn't cherry picked, quite the opposite really

Dude he picked the champ at 135. Even if your opinion or that Diaz stands but look he was aiming at champs. You may see better fighters at 135 but you cant change the fact that the champ usually means your the top of a class. I mean he wouldnt be a 4-time lineal champ if he DIDNT take on diaz. P.S. SOOORRYY *Sarcasm* for being new to this site and NOT know what you thought about ETM's loss to Pac. Thats why i said "Judging from your username" ok buddy?

no, he picked a titlist at 135, Joel Casamayor was the lineal/Ring Champion at 135 and that's who JMM fought and KTFO, Pacquiao NEVER WAS lineal champion at 135, so my advice is actually learn something about BOXING, and not just tid bits on Pacquiao trivia, you're a flavor of the month fan, enough said

Re: Mayweather: "Marquez Called Me Out, Pacquiao Didn't"
The pac-larios fight was just a tune up fight for pac-em 3,.. just like pac-velazquez tune up fight for pac-em 2 and pac-larios for pac-mab 2. I also consider pac-diaz fight as a tune up fight. cherry picking or not, Pac was just testing the waters in heavier weight class.

Dude im just sharing thing of what i know. Im what you call a new fan of boxing. I didnt care much about this sport since i found it boring and pointless to watch. Ever since ive been watching Pac ever since he went big fights i saw how exciting and interesting boxing is. Its like chess in a whole new level. If my knowledge is not enough and/or wrong its not that im stupid and or what your call a flavor of the month fan its because im new and im not telling everyone im perfect. If you think yourself too highly then your an arrogant and stuck up that keeps new fans like me from liking and discussing this sport.

well you should seriously do research before making claims like the ones you already have cause you just make yourself look like an idiot by making some of the claims that you have
