ICB sums it up pretty well. Except I dont consider Dawson to be great, not yet. Not really better than prime Tarver imo. Roy was the most amazing in his prime but Hopkins was brilliant in his prime too.
Jones was obviously absolutely unbelievable..
paul williams probably has the most potential on that list..
Kessler is a great technical fighter and has a lot to offer but needs some bigger fights..
Pavlik is a great puncher and has been getting a bit more technical but has shown that he can be beaten by good foot movement and accuracy.
Hopkins-Great.Think he's the better skilled fighter of the lot
Williams,Kessler and Pavlik solid effort-desire...nice skills but see only goodness at the end.

You don't consider Dawson great? How??? He beat Tarver twice easily. Tarver was no superb fighter ever. Good, nothing more. He has 2 names on his winning record. Dawson already has more. Johnson, Tarver, and Adamek. In those fights he is 4-0. The two names Tarver has RJJ, who was not prime, and Johnson. His record in those fights is 3-2. The names he has on his total record is 4, RJJ Johnson B-Hop Dawson, with a record against them as 3-5. And remember Dawson just started his prime. Tarver is really close to a one trick pony.Quote:

I agree mostly but until BCD and PW fight a few more elite names I will not consider them great, both have the potential to be great but neither has really hit their primes yet so we must reserve the GREAT moniker until the book is written

Tarver - Consider him a 1 hit wonder over a declining Jones.
Roy Jones - the best athlete to ever put on a pair of gloves but he could have fought a few more people here and there. He could have pressed the action more to KO some people.
Hopkins - Over acheiver, who didnt have the athleticism of a Jones but always came in in top shape and was smart. Not afraid to stink the joint out to pot shot and get a win (hence why he was relatively unpopular up until a few years ago)
Chad Dawson - I dont see Dawson being much more than a good fighter.
Paul Williams - Could be great if he stays at lower weight classes. I dont think he can be a dominant MW.
Mikkel Kessler - Good fighter. Outclassed in his big step up and now inactive
Kelly Pavlik - Good Fighter - a little one dimensional to be great.
