Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
Seems like he's throwing his career away just like Tony Ayala.

Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
A shame; talent being given a backseat to stupidity. Probably my fave prospect coming up; hope he doesn't get a long sentence.

Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
Let me see now.
A felony record for armed robbery+probation+gun related charges+ harsh Texas laws= 5 year sentence minimum.
And he's not even allowed to bail out, it's pretty serious.

I said I hoped ;D I live here in Texas so I'm not expecting to see him coddled on this one. Actually I'd imagine anywhere he'd be fukked.

Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
Is he charged for robbery too or only for illegal gun possession? If it's illegal gun possession only, it might be "not that bad", especially with good lawyers.

He had armed robbery charges against him in 2003. Now he got busted with another gun charge after buying a gun at a Tx. gun show and cops pulled over his girlfriend the gun was in the console; and also is involved in another incident where he was seen throwing a gun under a vehicle.

Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
I think he is looking at a mandatory 10 years....They already gave him a chance, he has everything going for him and he still got involved in two separate instances with guns........
-
Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
It all depends how good a lawyer Oscar is willing to get him. He's already plead guilty which will count in his favour & let's face it money always talks in this situation. But then I dunno Texas that well, I heard you're pretty harsh on this there right Legion?

The boy is on self destruct. He'll serve the rest of his first sentence because he violated his parole and get tacked on 5 years more on for the gun.

I've never been in trouble with the law; but I have friends who have; for less than Kirkland and still did alot of time. But there are other, more harsh states. My cousin did armed robbery in Arizona in 84', 1st offense, turned himself in, and commited the crime with a toy gun;D Still got 14 years and served every day.
Still; like GB said, it's serious and Kirkland is fukked. But just cause' these guys are rising stars; they still live in or around those bad places they grew up in; and jealousy sometimes causes guys to carry carry heat because you just never know; like famous football or basketball players get busted for, because jealous people don't like sometimes when people succeed. Part of me feels for James K.; part of me says what a dumbass.

Yeah, I get that, it's very similar in the area I live in over here. There's an actor, at the time rapper, from where I grew up called Ashley Walters who got done for the same thing because he was carrying a snub with him everywhere. He only did about 2-3 years though. Then again, when I see the amount of rappers who get caught for this over there & still walk pretty much free, he may be alright. T.I. got caught buying a small armoury whilst violating his parole & yet only ends up doing a year in minimum security. If Kirkland got the same luck, a year out isn't career ending.

IF he gets a sentence like that, he should consider himself blessed. And actually it could help his career in some ways; depending on how one looks at it; mostly how he looks at it and deals with the situation. He better learn some Shakespeare while he's awaiting his trial, and try to put on an Academy Awards performance for the judge; but I'd bet he's going down for a while.:dunce:

Not sure myself but I remember something being said during his last fight by the announcers that it would be lengthy....Bad for him

Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
How quickly it can all turn on you.Sad really...thought he had it turned around.Isn't this his 2nd felony conviction?

Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
Kirkland is EXACTLY where he should be, in jail for a long long time. He knew exactly what he was doing . He had Ann Wolf & Pops Billingsly behind him backing him . He let them down BAD!!!!
Before any of you start feeling sorry for Kirkland just imagine if it was your wife or G/f or even your mother that Kirkland threatened to shoot if they didnt give him what he wanted. Heck if he did thatt to anyone of mine believe me they'd need to keep his butt in jail cause if they let him out His azz would be MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, he knew what he was doing, he was given a 2nd chance and he blew it. The judge will not go easy on him as he shouldnt. I don't feel sorry for the guy, if he was having troubles he had people to turn to and get on the right path I am sure.

A spliff is roll-up/cigar of marijuana, known as a sweet in your state.

Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
This is happening in a country where Dante stallworth killed a dude and got 30 days so anything is possible. Cash truly does rule everything, so it all depends on how much he has or how much someone is willing to loan him.
-
Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
A guy in Vegas pleaded guilty to the same charges and got 2 years.
I don't know how the court system works over there but over here you only serve half your sentence.

Re: James Kirkland plead guilty to gun charges
Those are different states people. Different states harsher laws. Texas is no joke when it comes to the law. If you commit a crime, don't do it in Texas.
