Hatton will fight again it seems.

Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
If he sticks to the Diaz's and the Khan's of the world, he should be ok (though I think Khan can and will beat him), but I can't see him surviving against big punchers at this point.
-
Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
Would be nice for him to have a good local fight only to have the shit kicked out of him again by some club fighter
-
Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
Good to hear that he'll carry on. I know people want him to jump into a big fight but I'd rather him fight a fringe contender to get that confidence back and for him to see where he is.
Get a win under his belt then fight someone like Juan Diaz.

Too be honest i'd hate to see Khan-Hatton. At this stage i think Khan bludgens him. I don't think Hatton deserves that, plus i couldn't stand how Khan talked about MAB after he beat him - he was saying nice things but at the same time being UNBELIEVABLY patronising.

Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
I hope not. I have this feeling that the first time he gets hit flush (no matter from whom), it will be the end. Why chance it? For God's sakes Ricky, stop--if not for yourself, for your family and fans. Pugilistica dementia has no conscience, mate. Ask Bobby Chacon, the Quarry's, Jimmy Young, Willie Pep, Aaron Pryor, and way too many others who are no longer with us or are in bad shape.
-
Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
Have the feeling he'll end up with Juan Diaz. Not sure where he will be mentally and physically but wouldn't mind he and Bradley going at it.

A much better chance with Diaz. Bradley is peaking and is way too fit and fast for him IMO.
Diaz may be done. If Ricky could cut him early, he might have a decent chance of mugging him, but I just don't see how he can come back after having been concussed the way he was from Manny.

Yeah, i have the same feeling. To be honest i had it after the Mayweather fight, then the Lazcano (Hatton was SO close to getting sparked in that) fight made me sure he'd go next time he was hit by a guy with a decent dig. So whilst i enjoyed his performance vs Mallinaggi fight it didn't answer the BIG question. Lo and behold, the next time he fights a guy with a decent dig...BANG! he's gone. I fear that would be repeated VS Khan or Diaz.

Think your right about a Bradley fight. Two guys going in opposite directions.Diaz/Hatton has the style not to mention promotional attraction, think GB really wants it.Both guys sliding fast.Diaz not a big puncher but he wobbled Marquez and Paulie off lefthooks.Could be bad news for Hatton.

Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
he fight a couple of the lesser fighters to start with and stay at 140lb
-
Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
He'll beat Diaz if they fight, then fight someone who's not a light-punching, natural 135'er and get sparked in a big way. I'd love to see Khan beat him just to watch this forum implode.
-
Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
He shouldn't in my opinion. But if he does, make it a bum or 2 just to say goodbye to the fans. What's the sense in having a good long career if you can't remember it.

Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
I'm in two minds about it, the Manny fight was an unfair reflection of Hatton and to be honest it was Hattons ridiculous effort that made Manny look as good as he did. My only qualm is that he hasn't fought for a while now and there is little on the horizon. Plus he is horribly out of shape again. If he is going to comeback then do it quickly against anybody and just get a win under the belt. No point at all stepping back in at the top after a long lay off.

Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
Kevin Rooney would be the perfect trainer to improve his defense for his style. he should be in catskill training with kevin rooney

You obviously haven't read the Kevin Rooney is a moron thread ! We are trying to avoid seeing Ricky knocked out again, even if it is through one one Rooney's attacks of verbal diarrhoea which could induce a coma on the strongest person:rolleyes:

My Bad, I meant Atlas, but you'll see what I meant , still have his voice in my head from a fight I watched last week. Sorry to kevin rooney, I'm sure he's a nice guy ;D

Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
IMO, Hatton is a great brawler and if he went back to the Hatton of old instead of thinking a boxers style is better for him than what go him to the top of his game, he'd be back on top of his game. He lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao because he got careless.

Sorry i don't get this one, he went back to the Hatton of old and thought he could walk through Pac man and got taken. Going into the fight he said he had a new gameplan but simply resported back to the norm. Being a brawler has been his undoing in the big time.
-
Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
Back when all he was doing was brawling some folks were saying how he had real boxing skills and had used them in the past ...then he planned to start using them again, but it didn't ever work. let's just face it. Hatton's got lots of heart and energy but has never been and will never be a complete fighter. Not to dis him. Nice guy, glad he's a boxer - he's been good for the sport. Just not great. :)
He may have lost to Pac because of a bad game plan, but he lost to Floyd because he didn't have anything but a puncher's prayer against him.
Hard to believe he beat Kostya. That's the only puzzling thing. He beat Kostya. Incredible. But he did it.
Hmmm.
-
Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
This isn't directed at anyone in particular, but Hatton did not lose to Pacquiao because of his gameplan. I've seen a couple of people saying this and it simply is not ture. He lost because he is an inferior fighter. There's no shame in that, but implying that he lost because of the way he approached the fight is absurd and it takes away from the magnitude of Pacquaio's victory. If Hatton had come out boxing and moving, he still would have got knocked out.

I agree somewhat. Except he didn't train as the Hatton of old. He didn't defend himself, he lacked respect for Pacquaio's power (went with his heart), and more importantly didn't think about what he was doing related to his game plan. (although a conditioned reflex means he should have to think) His new training was something that didn't come as natural for him and when his adrenaline kicked in, his preparations went out the window. He psyched himself out and wasn't ready to step into the ring as the new Hatton. Because he didn't train as the Hatton of old he wasn't ready to step into the ring as the old Hatton either. While we saw the Hatton brawler, it wasn't a prepared confident Hatton brawler. If the idiot watched his own fights instead of feeling sorry for himself he might learn from his mistakes. But he's apparently got this stupid idea in his head that his style is not good enough to beat Mayweather' I believe this is why he hired Mayweather Sr. It just seems rather obvious to me.
How did David Diaz get so far with Pacquiao and Hatton didn't? He kept his guard up. Is Diaz that much better a fighter than Hatton? If he is then maybe your right and Hatton is just a club flghter, but I really don't believe a fighter can go 43-0 and not be a great fighter.

I agree with what you are saying and I was one who blamed his gameplan. I personally should have said it ended in the fashion and time it did because of his gameplan. I think that the overall result would have been the same in hindsight but rushing in all balls to the wall just brought the end a lot earlier than if he had tried to be smart.
I gave Pac props at the time and think he is a great fighter but also think Ricky did himself no favours and made Pac look even better on the night.

Remember Hatton had Kostya using his balls as earrings in that fight!

kostya is overrated. that style would've never lasted him past his physical prime.

True. But Kostya didn't blame his loss on that, so I guess I won't either.

And what style is that? Knocking most of his opponents out? A 13 Year Professional career with just 2 losses, and a World Champion for 10 years? If KT is overrated then Ricky Hatton is a walking advert for skinny milk?

Kostya is/was not overrated. If anything he is underrated.

he wouldn't have had his rib cages battered by Hatton if he had better grasp of technique. kostya's a good fighter sure... excellent timing and sense of distance. but that outdated Euro stance with the left hand extended mmm.
-
Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
Koysta Tzyu was extremely underrated. I however stand by my assertion that Kevin Rooney would have been the perfect trainer for Hatton

Forgive me if you've addressed this later, but I'm responding on my first run through this thread. But.....
You think Hatton doesn't deserved to get bludgeoned at this stage? Did you think that Kostya deserved to be literally bludgeoned by Hatton at that stage of his career? I say its karma!

You gotta be kidding. Juan Diaz would be worse for Hatton than Bradley. With Bradley it would be over quick, the damage relatively minimal. Diaz is not a one-punch KOer, he would pound Hatton over the course of many rounds until Hatton retired on his stool or God forbid, it went to a very lopsided decision. Diaz would do a lot more damage because he can't knock Hatton out with one punch like Bradley would.

Re: Hatton will fight again it seems.
For what its worth im never one to post a friend of a friend has told me etc as i find these types of posts tedious
But a very VERY good pal of mine who trains in rickys gym informed me the other day when i asked about ricky that he is now in proper pre fight training and has even been spotted hitting punchbags for the 1st time since the pac loss
Can assure anyone not in the know that ricky is planning a comeback sometime next year

I saw this posted the other day on the Hatton forum. You barely notice Matthew Hatton because of the noisy git hitting the bag behind him.

No i didn't think Kostya deserved to be bludgeoned. I don't think any fighter does. So Hatton getting battered now would be karma? Karma for what? I don't think he commited a crime by beating KT.
Also, going into the fight Kostya was in good form, and hadn't really shown much sign of deteriation. The same cannot be said for Hatton. But regardless, i don't see how Hatton deserves the 'karma' of taking a beating just because he beat KT.

Don't know about that ??It looks like Hatton is jumping to Cruiserweight soon so it may not matter.
No telling what,if anything,Hatton has left coming off of a brutal KO like that against Pac.But if he had to choose between a Bradley and a Diaz,IF he continues and has anything left in the tank....Hatton stands a better chance with Diaz who looks a bit on the slide and is only 1 fight in at 140....a lose.Where as I think Bradley drives Hatton like a nail in short order!
