Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
You know the drill guys
The 2nd superfight of 2009, nothing within the boxing world truly matters this weekend other than the moment at around 11pm (4am if your in the uk;D) when the 2 boys step into the ring to fight to see who is the best p4p fighter in the world.
Friday afternoon its off to asdas to stack up on cheap booze aplenty along with frozen pizzas. the invites of regular fightfans have been sent out. Nothing truly matters to a boxing hardcore this weekend whether your sports team is in action or you have to attend an important interview....its mayweather-marquez come night time
I F*CKING LOVE THIS SPORT ;D;D;D

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I've got my own fight that night, and weigh in and all the jazz, main event, yet...am already thinking about how I can get home quick enough after to catch it. I'd be buying it if I knew for sure I could watch it all, and prob. build a party around it. It is a big deal, and a precursor to bigger things in our sport for next year.
This is where the most excitement is. This and the pac-cotto fight. The story lines are great and being written as they go. No one who cares about boxing should underestimate the importance of this fight. I hope it reflects in the PPV numbers.

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
Cracking fight, both guys look sharp. In the earlier workouts before the postponement Marquez looked a little chubby, and Floyd a little lethargic.
Love to see both guys at their best, Floyd has the physical advantages though and will eventually take over IMO.

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
What gets me about these fights is the conflict. I'm sure I'm not alone. I am rooting for Marquez because I like who he is, moreso then Floyd. Yet, think a win for Floyd will be better in the long haul.
Then the Cotto-Pac fight. Same deal. Cotto is right at the top of my list of fighters I respect, Pac too. But I am rooting for Cotto, and again am not sure it is best. That Pac should win, that all the stars will align if it comes out this way and we'll see a true mega-fight being the end result. That being Floyd-Pac.
This is boxing though, so no certainties is there. Any fighter is one punch from it being over. One punch from winning.
All these little story lines, Marquez piss drinking, Floyd broke, Pac overconfident, sparring session rumors, well, this is a part of it, the intrigue and interest. It's all good. Every time I see a new story pop up, and 2 sides arguing their thoughts on it, I get a bit more excited about the whole deal.

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I been nervously waiting for this for months. I'm backin Floyd as I always have, but JMM is probably the one fighter I would cope with him losing to.
In terms of boxing's future, I think at least 1 of Floyd or Pacquiao has to win. A JMM-Cotto superfight will just not be on the same level as JMM-Pac III or Floyd-Cotto. Neither of those will be anywhere near the level of a Floyd-Pac fight, which I think would have the potential to be the biggest match-up in terms of appeal, public interest & significance since Hagler-Leonard.

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I'm going the bookies later to throw cash on Floyd.
I've got this feeling that he will be back with a bang and stop Marquez late on. I'm going to put like a fiver on rounds 9.10,11 for him to win.
I'm going out to Liverpool central with the boys Saturday and to hook up with a girl. My parents are away for 3 days. So I'll be getting absolutely smashed in town, come home with a kebab and turn Saddo's and the fight on. I'll be drinking Vodka Red Bull's Saturday so I'll be wide awake.

there are alternatives to pac-mayweather though
Mayweather-Cotto - years in the making
Cotto-Marquez - 2 very similar techniques clashing head on
Marquez-Pacquiao III - who the hell wouldnt want to see that go down?
I personally think the best thing possible for boxing would be either marquez or cotto winning as it would completely shake up the whole division and once again create an endless array of various matchups rather than just floyd-pac which would most likely result in both guys calling it a day there and then.

Not the worst undercard either, looking forward to it.

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
This is a really great fight for the boxing purist. There may not be the big punching and blood and guts of some other fights but as far as technicians in the ring go are there any 2 better than JMM and PBF at the moment?

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I'm picking up a load of hot peppers on Friday which I'm going to charcoal with other stuff. I haven't worked out anything else yet apart from the peppers. I have a good feeling that against all the odds it's going to be a great fight to watch.
-
Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
As the fights are always morning time where I am and I get too nervous the night before a big fight, I intend to get royally drunk the night before and watch it with a steaming hangover. There is no other way.
Go Marquez, shut that horrid cakehole of Floyds up once and for all! I would like nothing more than a shocker of a result on a par with Pac/Delahoya with Marquez strolling back up to the position of best fighter in the world.
The odds are against it, but one can live in hope if nothing else.

Peppers? Like a chili pepper? Are you planning on eating any meat or what, is it just bbqd peppers?

think we`ll all be royally hungover come the fight
i got so pissed for mayweather-de la hoya when i woke up the next morning i couldnt even remember what had happened and had to rewatch the fight to see
Got £20 down with a friend of mine that marquez puts mayweather on his back early on!!

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I'm going for Floyd to beat JMM, Cotto to beat Pac and then Floyd to beat Cotto
And if Paul Williams was a bit smaller he would beat them all ;)
-
Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I dont know who to pick. Marquez has enough skill to get mayweather into trouble, it will be his timing that will upset floyds speed. But floyd just always has the right game plan and he is so hard to hit. So i guess im leaning towards floyd but i wouldnt not be surprised if there was an upset.

Yeh I agree mate, I wouldn't be at all surprised. I think Floyd will win based on his physical advantages, but taking into consideration his length of time out of the ring and the fact that JMM is actually not too bad himself ;) I think a lot of people are a bit too sure that this is a foregone conclusion

Ive honestly never seen marquez deliberately on the back foot
the guy is very much your typical featherweight brawler who just likes to stand and trade. Gonna be such a big ask for juan not just because of this but in that he`ll be jumping up 2 weight divisions where his punches wont have as much effect on floyd as they did say with diaz.
Hope to god JMM has a strong b/c game for his sake because if he fights his usual aggressive self he is just gonna walk on to floyd counters all night long!!

I'll definitely be eating meat with them but I always charcoal a load of peppers when I do barbeque, although I eat hot peppers all the time anyway. :) They have to be hot enough to burn you on the way in and on the way out or they're no good.

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
Marquez will be pulled out of there round 8, question is will nacho show more compassion for Juan and pull him out earlier than DLH or will Nacho leave him to preserve his warrior status?
You do realize Floyd is rested, strong and sharp... JMM is a stud but he is going to school to learn a hard lesson Sat night.
There still is a win win here. If PBF and Cotto win, without a doubt you will see a Pac JMM 3

I'm a Floyd fan & have a load of people coming over who'll be rooting for him on Saturday night, but there is no way that JMM is just showing up to be rolled over. Mayweather is not a big welter & he's not a guy who uses his weight or strength.
I think this is tough whilst it lasts & no way does JMM quit, the guy just doesn't have it in him. I am far more worried about this fight for Mayweather than I was about Hatton or De La Hoya, both of which I was far more confident he'd win, even with Oscar's huge size advantage. Simply put, because Marquez is a greater fighter than either of those guys.
I think Mayweather wins, possibly with a late TKO, but he will have to dig deep to do so.

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I am back in good old Luxembourg where the p2p and live stream are blocked, will try to unblock it using a proxy website and to find a live stream for the event. Thus said, if ever any of you have a stream or something for the occasion, there is a poor Canadian exiled abroad that would be eternally grateful if you have something about it:)

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I will watch Liverpool v West Ham and then watch Match of the Day, stay up by watching some porn and be ready for the under card. Go to sleep about 5.30am and get up Sunday morning at 11 with a blinding headache. Play football and sleep like a baby Sunday night ready for work Monday. Love it!!!

Make it round 9 at least. I got money on Floyd to win by KO in round 9,10 or 11. 20/1 odds I got.

Lol, sorry Lefty, I don't need no scouse whores on Saturday, I got one ting fresh from Jamaica who should do nicely enough for me ;D
Well, unless JMM wins, in which case she can find her own way out & fuck off as I won't be in the mood

Lefty how do you get in touch with so many whores? That's awesome man I wouldn't be so quick to share. Unless of course you were looking for other members to run a train on them with which in that case yeah I probably would share.

Re: Time for the boxing world to shutdown once again Saturday night
I'm sorry to say that I will NOT be buying the farce on Sat night. I refuse to put one penny in the coffers of a con man. How anyone can still follow and admire that little punk Mayweather defeats me. I'll be hoping for a miracle that JMM knocks Mayfeather out COLD!!!!!!!!
