what happened??
Cleverly stopped old Courtney in the 8th as he tired.
Does it piss anyone else off that Sky show the main event then the undercard?
The worst thing is, if you look ringside you can normally see the guys that have already fought (like just now Chisora and the Walsh fella).. who goes ringside if they've been beaten? Fucking joke :beat:
do you think he is the real deal??
Crap Show, after tonight not sure how Cleverly will go at a higher level
I don't think Cleverly is half as good as most think. I first saw him struggling with Joey Vegas, since then I've been waiting for him to lose, admittedly he's improved.
If he beats someone genuine world-class i'll be properly shocked.
Sorry Vienna mate, logged off after the 6th round.
I'm going to hold the Welsh line here, I reckon Cleverly could be a decent European boxer, he's wiped the floor in an admittedly weak British division at the moment.
I'm not sure that training with his father Vince at an ABC is going to help him develop his pro style, he seems to back off awkwardly, and did get caught quite a few times tonight.
However, he's obviously growing into his strength, with 5 KOs on the trot after a pretty feather-fisted early career, and throws some nice punches.
Even though the light-heavies seems quite an empty division at the moment, populated with faded stars, up-and-comers and fighters who've moved up from SMW, I would like to see Cleverly brought on slowly. Let him learn not to get caught so often and box smarter than he's done this evening, and see how far he can get further down the line.
Aye, Woods looked to have slowed down a lot in his past two fights, but I honestly think that he would be able to give us a more honest verdict on Cleverly's chin, and how adaptable he is to more experienced fighters who can adapt to him.
At the moment, I don't think there's enough competition in the UK for him to make the four fights to take the Lonsdale strap outright, so there's no option but to get him the Euro fight, or at least put him in with a few of the gatekeepers in the division.
I think Cleverly has got better with each fight, his power is improving all the time and IMO is looking the real deal so far.
As has been already said its a shame a fight with Clinton Woods could not be made coz then we would know a bit more about what he is made of.
Cleverly is going to be a world champion he is a very good fighter.
Its the 1st time Ive had a good look at Him. His back foot is going to Haunt His progress, He is reaching to much, its a hard one to correct.
It is not just about who he has beaten, it is the way he has beaten them which tells me he is a class fighter. I was really impressed the way he broke up Macintosh. He does have to perfect his style a little but I can see him holding a version of the title at least. He can go better than that too.
Despite what Jim Watt was saying, i thought Cleverly was doing ok for the first 5 rounds, but he seemed to tire in 6, 7 and 8 until the stoppage. I would say though that this is one of his worst performances that i've seen. I think i've seen 9 of his last 10 fights and i'd say he can definately win a world title. His power has come along, although i don't think he'll big a big hitter as he steps up. He has good hand speed and is normally pretty accurate (not so much last night). As scrap pointed out he was reaching a lot with his punches last night, but this isnt something ive seen him do before.
thats a badly constructed post, sorry. oh Jim Watt just popped up on the snooker as i was typing. Spooky.
I'm not sure he'll make world level either. There's nothing really exceptional about any part of his overall boxing. He'll do OK with Frank Warren though, I see a vacant WBO belt in his future.
class, class fighter and once again convinced he`ll make world level comfortably.
Yes he walked on to a few shots, courtney fry is a very good fighter that and even at this level you have to be prepared to take a few shots over an 8round contest!
Cleverly is showing his class fight after fight and its only a matter of time before he is fighting and beating world class operators!
