I'm going to hold the Welsh line here, I reckon Cleverly could be a decent European boxer, he's wiped the floor in an admittedly weak British division at the moment.

I'm not sure that training with his father Vince at an ABC is going to help him develop his pro style, he seems to back off awkwardly, and did get caught quite a few times tonight.

However, he's obviously growing into his strength, with 5 KOs on the trot after a pretty feather-fisted early career, and throws some nice punches.

Even though the light-heavies seems quite an empty division at the moment, populated with faded stars, up-and-comers and fighters who've moved up from SMW, I would like to see Cleverly brought on slowly. Let him learn not to get caught so often and box smarter than he's done this evening, and see how far he can get further down the line.

It's a shame Woods retired I reckon that would of been a good indication of what Cleverly is capable of.

Aye, Woods looked to have slowed down a lot in his past two fights, but I honestly think that he would be able to give us a more honest verdict on Cleverly's chin, and how adaptable he is to more experienced fighters who can adapt to him.

At the moment, I don't think there's enough competition in the UK for him to make the four fights to take the Lonsdale strap outright, so there's no option but to get him the Euro fight, or at least put him in with a few of the gatekeepers in the division.

I think Cleverly has got better with each fight, his power is improving all the time and IMO is looking the real deal so far.

As has been already said its a shame a fight with Clinton Woods could not be made coz then we would know a bit more about what he is made of.

Not to sure about that, who has he actully fought

    Toney Oakey and Courtney Fry??

He has look good against weak opposistion, and the Fry fight for me made me re think how good this lad is, if I had to put the house on it I say he is not World Class.

It is not just about who he has beaten, it is the way he has beaten them which tells me he is a class fighter. I was really impressed the way he broke up Macintosh. He does have to perfect his style a little but I can see him holding a version of the title at least. He can go better than that too.

Despite what Jim Watt was saying, i thought Cleverly was doing ok for the first 5 rounds, but he seemed to tire in 6, 7 and 8 until the stoppage. I would say though that this is one of his worst performances that i've seen. I think i've seen 9 of his last 10 fights and i'd say he can definately win a world title. His power has come along, although i don't think he'll big a big hitter as he steps up. He has good hand speed and is normally pretty accurate (not so much last night). As scrap pointed out he was reaching a lot with his punches last night, but this isnt something ive seen him do before.
thats a badly constructed post, sorry. oh Jim Watt just popped up on the snooker as i was typing. Spooky.
