Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
It was not a good fight but Haye did what he needed to do to win the fight and I#dont blame him for that.
I would rather Haye fight like he did and win than have a few exciting rounds and Hae lose.
Valuev's size makes him such a difficult boxer to fight and I think most great heavyweights would have a tough time looking good against him.
Well done David Haye,King of the world.(apart from the brothers grim, that is)

agree entirely
would say a rematch should take place - but who would want to watch...

Thats the problem, a rematch would be hard to sell, but if it were to happen I think Haye might well stop him with 2 good hands and the knowledge he took from the last minute that he can hurt him!

Haye should write a book on how to ruin your own credibility and reputation......
1 - Call out champ, talk a ton of smack than back out and run scared.
2 - Call out number 1 rated contender, talk a ton of smack than back ut and run scared.
3 - Call out flawed alphabet title holder, talk about how you are going to dominate him and show the world how a real HW fights and puts excitement in the division and than run scared in the fight......
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
...I suppose now the Haye fans will be telling us "Haye had to talk smack to sell the fight"....and that my friends is BULLSHIT. If you want someone to do nothing but talk even when it's David's JOB to fight then watch the WWE!!!!
David Haye is worse than Audley Harrison....FACT

I cant ever remember complaining about the way Wlad fights.
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
But Haye has and therefore what I said is valid
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
After last nights great and exciting performance by Haye I have no doubt that Haye will be the savior of the HW division and boxing. He will restore boxing to it's former glory. Fact.
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
You gotta laugh at all these bitches who were HOPING Haye was gonna trade and get knocked out or run out of stamina and get stopped late on.
Haye did what he had to do, there is no easy way to fight a guy that massive, he rocked him near the end and made him miss by FEET at times, was hardly FOTY but I was on the edge of my seat.
The size difference once in the ring was much bigger than I thought.
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
Yea, he won match with point scoring, but there shouldn't there be a rule or point deduction for non-engagement. (Unwilling to fight)

Haha. Lyle is panicking, he didn't think Haye had the discipline to BOX for 12 rounds and now he's having doubts over whether Wlad can take him....FACT. I remain the same Haye will beat Wlad!!
Audley Harrison?? Better than Haye? There my friend is the proof of what I have just said, your getting worried!
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
If Wlad can catch Chris Byrd and put him down a number of times then I fail to see how Haye is going to escape that fight without getting KO'd. Wlad has also dealt with runners before...believe you me he's going to get his points and win any fight where Haye thinks he can take the easy way out by running.
I'm not nervous about Haye, I'm just really fucking tired having heard his bullshit for a full year only to have him on his bicycle all night long vs a guy who is not a power puncher and was there for the taking all night long but Haye just couldn't be bothered to throw any punches. It's bad form for a guy to talk so much and then provide that kind of performance. Haye put forth a disgraceful effort vs Valuev, there is no way in hell he can compete with Wlad or Vitali....his mouth can only get him so far in this division.
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
I always laugh at how wound up fans get by people like Haye when he talks outside the ring, I all care about is finally finding a HW that isn't boring as shit (to be fair there are a couple decent ones), if he's going to turn into a boring HW there's really no point.

So those shots he were throwing were to score points? He tried for a KO like he always does and he nearly got one.
Do you have some pre-written "Told you Haye was garbage" threads you will have to save for another fight? ;D

Well so far it has got him the WBA title. By the way thats the title that Jack Dempsey, Max Baer, James Braddock, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe, Michael Moorer, Lennox Lewis and Roy Jones Jr just to mention a few have held.
Neither Klit has a belt with that history and no matter what you say about the current state of the organisation, you can't take away it's history. And when Haye KO's Wlad he'll add some of the lesser title's historically i suppose. ;)

I don't get where you're coming from....so you're just saying Haye's power isn't carrying up that well??
It's amazing how you Brits can hype up someone who had such a pathetic performance.

Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
Haye could of done alot more.
Haye's workrate was awful especially in the middle rounds, he could of won the fight alot more clearly had he just threw more punches per round, it's not like Valuev would make him miss.
Haye edged it imo but to say he did what he had to do to win is bullshit.
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
I thought the fight was awful, I felt both fighters were awful.
Valuev was unlucky to lose imo, Haye landed maybe 4 punches in the entire fight and ran more than Andre Dirrell against Carl Froch.
He really pissed me off with his post fight speech about how he made Valuev look like an amatuer and how great he was.
He should have been apologising to the fans for such a dull fight and as for making Valuev look amateur, no you didn't Valuev himself makes Valuev look amateur, you just looked like a twat, scared to engage and do anything.
He won't be doing anything in this division imo. Valuev is an AWFUL world champion.
If Haye can't engage with Valuev how the hell is he going to engage with the Klitschko's? He's just going to get jabbed to death.
Not impressed at all. He got a decision against the most awful world champ in recent memory.
John Ruiz and Evander Holyfield both beat Valuev better and more convincingly than Haye did but neither is good for the heavyweight division so they didn't get the decision.
Haye won because he's marketable FACT.

I'm no Haye fan, but he deserved to win imo. Valuev is awful, but he was a foot taller and seven stones heavier and some of the people that don't acknowledge that a s afactor in the fight are very naive. If both guys were the same size and had the skills they have, Haye would've walked it!
...But Haye is crap

Oh yeah I agree with you on that. If Valuev was 6 ft 3 he wouldn't get past the first round of a Prizefighter competition let alone fight for a world title.
I don't really have a problem with Haye winning, I mean Valuev was shit. But let's be real, Haye did no more than Holyfield did, he did no more than Ruiz did in their first fight either. In those cases Valuev got the decisions purely because of his freakish appearance imo and the fact that he was better for the heavyweight division.
Right now though, we all know Valuev sucks and he's not marketable any more whereas Haye with his cockyness and buff body certainly creates headlines so predictably he gets the nod in a close fight.
But he shouldn't be engaging in any self praise over this performance. He fought a TERRIBLE opponent in Valuev who I'd pick at least a dozen other heavies to beat him easily and instead he just ran around for 3 minutes and then landed a token punch before the bell. It was pathetic and in the light of all his smacktalk just emphasised what a bullshitter Haye is.
He will get SMASHED by either Klitschko, he just won't have any answers for either of them, and they will just take him slowly take him apart and dismantle him, it will be a joy to see.
I'm not convinced he even gets that far though. I think John Ruiz has a real chance at beating him, maybe even stopping him.
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
I think the big question is, "Does Haye continue to fight like this?"....let's be honest, the guy loves throwing 1 punch at a time (much like another overhyped Brit)...Valuev connected on him a couple of times, what happens if that's Wlad Klitschko in there and the ring is getting cut off and the punches are coming faster, harder, and straighter??? Haye is going to get KO'd that's what's going to happen and it's going to be a marvelous to watch that punk get the beatin his dad never gave him

Lol - I think he'll have enough to beat Ruiz, but agree with what you say about Klitchkos. I don't see either fight going more than 3 rounds (although it wouldn't surprise me at all if he caught Wlad and KOed him)

When was the last time Wlad was at all out weighed or the shorter man?
Let alone by a clear foot and 100 pounds?
Haye didn't look at all spectacular and yes he didn't do what he said he would but I'd hold complete judgement until we've seen haye fight some average sized heavyweights.
He ws very inactive, but I can't believe people can't see that this was because Valuev offered haye very little to hit due to his sheer size... I would of liked Haye to throw a few more shots, even if they were just at gloves it would have gave the impression he was more active, he seemed more concerned with being accurate though... which is meant to be the name of the game but judges and fight fans usually want more.
Valuev's shoulders were making it so that 99% of the time Haye couldn't even get round his guard.

Or maybe showed how smart he is.
Look at the interest in the fight, it was huge. He didn't just make the casual fan want to tune-in he conned all the hardcores and "experts" into thinking he would go out gung-ho trying to smash Valuev out.
Instead he had a 12 round game plan in place all along - which he pulled off. Great stuff.

No he fought a smart fight against a guy way too big for him.
I'm sure you'll see some excitement when he fights guys that are KO-able.
You know guys like china-chin Wlad.

Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
...is this all it takes for Brits to get whipped up in a frenzy about a fighter???
Haye is going to get demolished by Wladimir
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
LOL Dont forget guys that Wlad and Vitali are quite tall as well so do you think Haye would fight different against them? And also although they dont weigh as much as Valuev, they punch harder. So i dont see him trying to engage with them either and like lyle said before, they know how to track down a runner.
Either Klitschko would of koed Valuev FACT!!!

That maybe so.
But 3 inches, 20lb, china-chin, questionable heart and the fact he's been ko'd by journeymen gives Haye a far greater chance of the KO.
It's impossible to not agree, right?
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
Look what Wlad did to the only other guy to beat Valuev... haye is in serious trouble... :(
Wlad made it no secret that he wasn't afraid to use his superior skills, size, strength and power to emphatically beat down the smaller chageav from the opening bell...
Make no mistake... Wlad will be all over haye like a fly on shit, just like chageav.
-
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
Put aside the size differential for a sec and let's discuss the speed differential, Haye had tons of free time to pose and NOT be an exciting fighter, let's be honest how hard would it be get Valuev off balance? I submit as hard as taking a step to the right.

Fenster, David Haye is going to get lit up by Wladimir. Look at how Haye fought Valuev....now let us imagine Wlad in Valuev's shoes. Wlad is more skilled, more athletic, has more power, and let's not forget one of the best jabs in the history of the division and it's the great equalizer for speed.
Haye is in deep shit if he decides to fight Wlad. I highly recommend David hurting his back again

I can picture exactly how a fight with Wlad would go.
Haye would come out all majestic and confident. The first round would be a feeling out, Haye would come forward, land a couple shots, and get some confidence.
At the end of the round he'd probably stand and stare at Wlad and then stride back to his corner with his shoulders and lats flaring almost as wide as his nostrils.
Then in the second round Wlad would find his rythm and start instigating the jab. Haye wouldn't be able to get inside, and would start eating shots. His offensive output would drop.
Third round Haye would already be feeling uncomfortable, he'd know his gameplan had failed and he'd cease throwing anything and just look to survive. Wlad is patient and wouldn't try to knock David out yet but would just continue with the jab, breaking Hayes spirit.
Haye would go back to his corner and make a mental note that this is the round he broke his hand in......
Fourth round. Haye lunges forward wildy with a punch that misses and ends up on the floor. He slips over a couple more times in this round as he starts to look ragged. visably wilting now he could be taken out but Wlad doesnt want to let him off so quickly and just keeps up the jab.
Fifth round. Haye is going through the motions now, trying to survive. He complains about clinches and a headbutt. Thoroughly beaten down he trudges back to his corner trailing by 4 rounds on Lederman's scorecard.
Sixth round. Haye's 'broken' hand is clearly bothering him now, and to make matters worse he damages his shoulder which effectively ruins his chances of knocking Wlad out, which WOULD have happened, had he not had the misfortune of a double injury.
Seventh round. Adam Booth tells him to give it all in this round and lay it on the line. A fired David Haye races out to the middle of the ring, but spends the next three minutes in retreat as Wlad jabs the shit out him.
After the bell rings Booth and his team are already there with the white towel, Haye is injured and cannot continue.
A completely unmarked and sweat free Wladimir wins the fight.
