PAC Biting more than he can chew?
I'm more than %100 sure that Manny is a warrior but fighting Mayweather will be the fight he loses. Even though he won last night you could tell when he spoke not roach that Cotto was a hard fight and he got to see that Welterweight power. I Dont See Manny beating Mayweather unless they get a small ring or something because Mayweather will just tag and run himself to a victory. Anyone agree???
-
Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
Pac Has Won Belts In 7 Weight Classes Even Though Its Big Money He Shouldn't Take The Fight I'd Have To Go With Mayweather. By Boring 12 Round Decision
-
Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
I will still side with Floyd if they fight as Floyd has proven to be simply too good for anybody he faced thus far and I think he's the slickest operator in the sport.
What last night proved though is two things. Firstly Manny IS the best challenger available to Floyd, at least from 147 lbs down and this is the megafight that needs to happen.
Secondly, and importantly, with successive wins over Oscar, Hatton and Cotto all of whom have won titles at 147 lbs Manny has proven that he is not too small.
If Floyd and Manny fight, the size factor isn't relavent imo, Manny has shown he still has power in this weight class, and that he can take their shots too. Floyd is very small for a welterweight anyhow so what we have is a pure matchup where talent and skill will decide the outcome.
For me this is great news, we know both will be able to perform to their peak abilities whether the fight is at 145 or 147 and can therefore just sit back and watch a tremendous spectacle with whomever wins getting full and unreserved credit for it.
And although I agree a 12 round decision in favour of Floyd is the most likely outcome I don't think it will be boring. Maybe not a blood and guts whirlind display like Manny's last few fights, but it will be the absolute zenith of pure boxing, technique, accurate counter punching and defense versus speed, aggression and explosive dynamism. For a true pugilistic fan it will represent the art of pure boxing in its highest form. I can't wait for this fight.
-
Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
I actually think Mayweather will KO him. When Cotto knew he had lost last night and fought off the backfoot he had some success and that is not his style. It is on the other hand Mayweathers and Floyd tags people for fun from that position, especially when they come forward like a whirlwind as Pac does.
I honestly think that this will make Mayweather look really good (he is really good mind) and I think that what he did to Marquez will be nothing compared to what he does to Pac.
So yes he is biting off more than he can chew with this one for me, but I still can't wait to see it and I think it may even beat ODLH-PBF for PPV's. We'll see though!

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is an interesting fight for me. Mayweather might school Pacquiao if they fight but you can't really count Pacquiao out since this guy is very unpredictable and doing the unthinkable in his last few fights.
Jose Luis Castillo who fought Mayweather twice and sparred with Pacquiao said that Pacquiao is faster and stronger than Mayweather.

Castillo was very good against Mayweather no doubt, but that isn't the man who sparred with Pac! Castillo is shot and has been since his brawls with Corrales. And he has been employed by Pac so he is never going to say Pac has no chance with Mayweather is he?
Also even if he is faster than Floyd, he is not as good a boxer and that will be the telling factor should they meet (i really hope they do). Can't wait to hear what PBF has to say about the fight!

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
OMG here we go again people. Sorry to say this but this time Im going for Pacquioa by tko. Yes its crazy but pacquiao is unpredictable thats all i can say.:lickish:

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
Pac/Mayweather needs to happen now. Manny has proven he really can hang with and take apart the big boys. It's a fight fans need to see, and I wouldn't rule out Manny from even taking it.
Marquez obviously couldn't handle the higher weight what with being old and struggling to carry it up, Manny on the other hand appears to have really grown into the thicker weights well. I can't see Mayweather stopping Pac and I struggle to see Mayweather outlanding him. Pac might very well have a chance to pull this off.
Manny appears to have become quite savvy and able to execute a strategy very well. He can also adapt according to the needs of the fight, like Mayweather can. It would be a fascinating clash of styles and strategies. It needs to happen.
-
Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
Floyd would run, Manny would chase.
I'd go for a Pacman win on points, judges giving it to him for his more entertaining and attacking style. Mayweather would be too negative as he's to scared of getting tagged.
Floyd is the best, but I think Pacman just has too much speed and too many combinations and the pressure would be too much.
Hatton had Floyd worried at times and he's not half the fighter of Pacquiau (really should learn to spell it!)
The way Pacquiau is, it wouldn't suprise me if he took on Haye and won. Similar size difference after all between them as Haye/ Valuev.
What he has done is almost unthinkable

Your right it does NEED to happen now. I don't give Pacquiao as much of a chance as you though.

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
Roach's health could be an issue though. He's not getting any better, I've heard he struggled in this training. Would Manny be the same without him?
-
Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
If he fights Mayweather it has to be at 147lbs and a 50/50 purse split and just get it on none of this 145lbs shit or i deserve 60/40 just get it on for the sport for the fans.

Pacquiao win fights mainly due to his superior speed and if he's faster than Mayweather then it's already a plus for him. I think Pacquiao is also stronger. Mayweather has the edge in boxing skills and natural talent.
Dela Hoya said that Pacquiao has the quickest set of hands among the boxers he has fought. Hatton said that Pacquiao is the hardest puncher he has fought so far.

Dude, i think you just want pacquiao to lose. You're intimidated by a small guy beating up big guys. Why be a crybaby demanding 147? What's a 2 lb difference to whine about? Can't muster a guy who climbed from 106?
For one thing, Floyd is just going to use his dancing skills. Roach is already saying it now. Floyd's ego won't let anyone tarnish his zero record, he'll dance the night away when he gets in trouble. Perhaps do a new version of Cotto's bicycle backpedal dance steps.
Remember, marquez was the smaller man. But big 'ol Floyd can't dispose the little guy from Mexico to do a decision. Pac was the smaller guy who keeps "biting more than he can chew", and yet he ended Cotto by a demolition.
And besides, only pacman can make opponent's wives/girlfriends cry.

How does anyone respond to complete nonsense? Mayweather KO Pacquiao? Your living in a total fantasy land! Your one of those few that would say Larry Merchant would KO pacquiao! "Larry's just got so much experience, I think Merchant gets rid of Pac in the later rounds!" The fact is that you never gave Pacquiao respect before and you won't ever no matter what he accompishes! Tell me, whens the last time Manny was knocked out, or knocked down for that matter? Mayweather is good, but you act like he's a knockout artist? Not trying to make waves but you must have been drunk or just thinking out your butt on this one dude!:-X

He has fought at Welterweight twice now he shouldn't be looking for an edge as long as Mayweather weighs 147lbs or less it shouldn't matter

Pacquiao has faster hands than SRR but I don't think he'd beat him either! I'm not even that sure he is faster than Floyd, but it's close and i'll give him that. As for Hatton's hardest punching opponent?? I doubt it, Tszyu hit very very hard but Hatton had a lot better chin in those days. IMO Hatton lost a lot when Mayweather KO'd him.

Mayweather is not that special?? ??? ?? WTF?? Did you see the demolition job he did on Marquez who caused Pac a shit load of problems? Mayweather is up there with the likes of Leonard, Robinson and Jones Jnr and IMO although great Pac isn't quite on that level. Yes he has had some very good wins recently since moving up to the higher weights but everyone of those opponents have had question marks over them. Oscar was ageing and forced to drain to a weight he hadn't been down to for a long time, Hatton had not long since been KO'd by Floyd and Cotto hasn't looked as good as he once did since the Margarito fight.

Right listen here now. I've always given Pac respect, always. I didn't think he would beat Oscar but I was wrong and he did. I thought the Hatton fight was hard one to call and I slightly leaned for Hatton and got it wrong. I said all the way upto this fight that I thought it was difficult to call as both are great fighters but i even put money on a Pac points win and was 2 minutes from being right.
But Pac doesn't react well to classy counter punchers (see the Marquez fights if you don't believe me) and Floyd is the classiest and best counter puncher in the world bar none. So to me that says Floyd is going to land on Pac reguarly and when Pac starts getting tagged thats when he gets Macho and thats when Mayweather will pick him apart. Mayweather isn't a HUGE puncher no but he can still dig and Pac hasn't been hit for a duration of time by anyone that good or that big. Cotto has been the most successfull as far as this goes but after the 4th or 5th he never landed another telling blow. We'll see anyway as far as this fight goes but i'll have a name change bet or rep bet with anyone who wants one with me taking Mayweather over Pac obviously!

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
Pac is a great fighter course he is nobody can doubt that but i will say this Mayweather beat a bigger stronger Oscar De La Hoya who was coming off a good win vs Mayorga and was WBC 154lb champ and ranked number 1 in the world Pac beat a weight drained version who weighed inside the welterweight division for 1st time since 2001 he made Oscar retire on his stool after 8 rounds but what would Mayweather have done with this Oscar who could basically be hit at will. Mayweather beat Hatton up for 10 rounds then knocked him out lets not forget Floyd didn't even take Hatton serious he went on dancing with the stars Hatton was basically done after this fight look at the Lazcano fight. Don't get me wrong what Pac did to these 2 fighters was great im not denying that and then theirs Cotto now i thought Cotto would win this was a great win for Pac but was he done after the defeat against the Master of Plaster Margarito we don't know. The main fact is lets just get this fight on but if Pac starts all this it has to be at 145 or 143lbs or he want 60/40 split then he must not want the fight. When interviewed after the fight he never mentioned Mayweather and when interviewed by Kenny when asked about Mayweather he skated around it the sport needs this fight in the words of Mills Lane LETS GET IT ON!!

Mayweather signed up to fight Marquez at 145. If Floyd was willing to fight Marquez at 145, why not Pacquiao? I don't see why it matters if the weight is in that range. It would only be Manny's second fight at welterweight and not in a row either. Unlike Mayweather who fought Hatton (a career junior welterweight) at 147, Pac fought him at 140. ODLH was his first fight at welterweight. Don't forget too that less than two years ago, Manny was fighting at 130. All I'm saying is I don't think it matters at all if the fight with Floyd is at 145.
You seem caught up on the weight issue. Are you also really bitter at Paul Williams for forcing Sergio Martinez to come up to 160 rather than at Sergio's natural weight of 154 just for the weight advantage?

Mayweather should beat Pacquiao.
However, Manny's wins over Hatton and Cotto are better than anything Mayweather has done in a while.
Mayweather fought Hatton at 147, not at Hatton's natural weight class of 140. A big-time advantage for Mayweather. Pacquiao fought him in a weight class in which Hatton had never lost, and DESTROYED him. It looked like Hatton didn't belong in the same ring with Pacquiao. Mayweather's beating of Hatton versus Manny's isn't a contest. Hatton won rounds against Mayweather at Mayweather's weight class and Manny demolished Hatton at Hatton's weight class.
And Cotto just beat a tough top ten welterweight in Clottey after the Margarito fight. Cotto was still a tough, tough competitor coming into this one. I, for one, predicted Cotto would win. The Cotto that showed up last night is by far better than any welterweight Mayweather has ever faced (Gatti, Baldomir, Hatton at 147 etc.).

Without doubt he would be up there with the very best of them.
To beat a fighter who has gone that long and never lost would confirm what many are already speculating.
Would still prob need another super fight to confirm it 100%, Mosley or similar, or even another Marquez fight.

What you fail to realize is, is that this is not the same pac that fought Marquez. Roach has made him a much more dangerous and skilled fighter since he fought marquez. If you want talk about opponents than Pac seems to be dominating common oppenents in much more convincing fashion than Mayweather(DLH,Hatton) so lets not even go there. Mayweather rarely throws combinations and has quite a habit of jabbing and retreating his way to victory. This wont be enough to stop manny, who will be relentless. He will stalk mayweather, and he will be the 1 on Mayweather's record.

It is in Europe, where most the heavyweight attention is coming from.
People want to see the Klitscho's dethroned. Why do you think Haye got such a unanimous points win in that fight when it was very close to call. People are bored of the same people, with their boring manner and boring style.
Haye vs Klitchsco is being talked about as a 90,000 sell out crowd at Wembley, makes it a super fight for me (should that happen)

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
Wouldn't it be crazy if Pacquiao fought and beat Foreman at 154 and won a belt in an 8th weight class? I doubt Pacquiao could beat Martinez/Williams/Dzinzurik/Spinks at 154, but he could beat Foreman and Foreman now has a belt. Just for historical reasons even though obviously the Mayweather fight is much bigger as is aMosley fight etc.
To Foreman's credit, he solidly beat Santos last night, which somewhat surprised me and it was a better fight than Chavez Jr's by far.

It wouldn't be WORLD titles at 8 weights though.
Also someone said that Mayweather's performances against ODLH and Hatton weren't as impressive as Pacs in a reply to my earlier post. Well no I admit that but Mayweather wasn't fighting a weight drained De La Hoya who was well and truely over the hill and had just looked shite against Steve fucking Forbes, no he had just looked great against Mayorga and Mayweather went upto 154lbs and beat De La Hoya in his comfort zone. Now I don't expect Pac to do that and I give him credit for what he did to Oscar but it is ignorant to overlook all the facts.
As for Hatton, Floyd fought him when he was unbeaten and had not been knocked out. He set the trend there by KOing him and Hatton looked crap against Lazcano but against feather fisted Malignaggi he looked good but he always would. Also Hatton totally underestimated Pac and just run out with his chin out and got it handed to him. Again I don't want to take anything away from Pac but lets take all the facts into consideration before speaking please!

To Foreman's credit, he solidly beat Santos last night, which somewhat surprised me and it was a better fight than Chavez Jr's by far.
That would be a good last fight for him before he retires.
Bob Arum should give you a call for ideas.
Foreman did not show any power, so was Chavez Jr.
Why would they have a Chavez 10 rounder before the big fight? I almost missed the big fight...dozing off.LOL
PAC Biting more than he can chew?
PAC wants to know the answer too....notice how he was testing Cotto's power in the early rounds.
He will keep biting till then...boxing fans enjoy!

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
When i say biting more than he can chew the reason i said that was because he was getting caught and mad when cotto was running and punching. So knowing Mayweather has a superb defense, foottspeed, and hand speed. I believe in this fight Mayweather will stay out of range and challenge him to game of stick and move and beat him on points due to jabs and counters Mayweather isn't a risk taker and he's gonna run all night.

The way to beat Pac is through effective counter punching and Floyd is the best in the world at it. When Pac starts getting mad because Floyd is landing on him and starts making mistakes because he is going forward without any caution I think Floyd will get him out of there. He played with Marquez for 12 rounds and anytime after the 6th had he stepped it up he could have stopped it but CHOSE to let Marquez go the distance. With Pac he will want to prove how much better he is and I think he will stop him. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong but thats the way I see it.

A few months ago I tore into Pacman's accomplishments for fun just to rile people up. We can do this with Mayweather.
-Delahoya: 34 years old past his prime and was inactive
-Hatton: Was fighting above his best weight class and Joe Cortez
-Baldomir: Wasnt worthy of the 147 crown
-Gatti: a 33 year old past his prime club fighter
-Marquez: a 36 year old past his prime fighter fighting 3 weight classes above his best fighting weight.
You see how easy it is to tear down a fighter's accomplishments? And I can say those are facts also.

In no way is that a fact. Baldomir was the linear champion at 147, ergo he was worthy of the crown since he earned it by beathing the former champion. Was he a mediocre titlist? Absolutely, but he was also "worthy" of the position because he earned it the same way everyone else has.

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
Understandable i think pac will get mad and lose rounds

Re: PAC Biting more than he can chew?
This is nonsense as a Mayweather fan I think Floyd wins but Pac has the best chance to beat the man. it's the only reasonable fight!!!
