Filipino boxing fans who disagree with Pacquiao
Have been a boxing fan since I can remember and have been following the news. A lot of he Pacquiao fans seems to be a fan of the fighter as opposed to boxing in general.
I have been reading some of the other Philipino boxing forums and some of the comments made just seem to go to the extreme.
The general opinion seems to be if you question the refusal then you must be a PBF fan/nuthugger/Manny hater!
Also they won't even concede that it would be possible for him to be on PED's. How can you possibly justify that?
Would like to know if there are genuine Philipino BOXING fans out there

Of course there are, this forum has plenty. They just don't attract the attention the way the fanboys do and unfortunately they're all too often lumped in with them as well.

Re: Philipino boxing fans who disagree with Pacquiao
I think there's only 1 genuine boxing fan that was a Filipino and that was C-Lo (Is C-Lo Fillipino?) that I've seen since I've been here.
A Filipino that's just a overall boxing fan is rare. That's like seeing an albino walking the street. Also very rare, but it does happen.

Re: Philipino boxing fans who disagree with Pacquiao
I'm a filipino. I've been scouring these forums for well over 5 years now, mainly because of pac. And as sure as hell I'm pissed off with how manny's conducting this whole random testing thing. Also, you're right about how a lot of filipino posters are becoming irrational when it comes to the topic of pac (specially when he's being criticized). I'm not even going to defend them when they become mindless trolls shooting all sorts of expletives at someone who they feel is threatening manny's pristine image, because I feel sorry for the other filipinos who can look at the big picture and think objectively when manny comes under fire. It's his damn fault anyway, why not just take the tests and stop making lousy excuses?
Edit: Oh, i'm going to admit that i'm not a huge boxing fan. I watch other fights too, but not with the same fervor when there's a filipino fighter involved.

Well said. :appl:
There are some good Pac posters out there. It is time for the huggers to quit defending the inexcusable. It takes a real man to look at the bigger picture and then hold up his hands and say "I was wrong". If I can do it over certain things over the years on this forum then others can too.
The fight is pretty much off now, so it's about time the defenders quit with the "this is all just hype...why should Manny take the test?....needles weaken him" rubbish. Those arguments are all wrong and we don't have the fight we want. One fighter agreed to a random proposal, the other refused. The blame lies in one corner only. And he has the audacity to try and sue his way out of it?
Blind faith in a fighter no matter what, is never a healthy thing. It's always good to be able to enjoy fighters, but use a bit of good old fashioned critical thinking when the situation calls for it. And this is a situation that needs to be looked at critically.

Thankyou for restoring my faith. There is no harm in having favorite fighters, we all do, and to support fighters from your own country. I is really refreshing to hear you acknowledging that your favorite fighter may have made a mistake or had a flaw. Especially when you read some of the personal attacks made by some fans

Re: Philipino boxing fans who disagree with Pacquiao
Yeah. I just can't stay silent while some filipino posters here are resorting to personal insults thinking that it will help drive their point. That point, mainly manny's just hyping the fight and wanting to call the shots is moot now, if indeed the fight won't take place. So it's a good time to hold back on the paranoia meter and trash talking now, I'd say.
There are lots of "unbiased" filipinos out there who love boxing by the way. Just that they're too darned lazy to post.

Re: Philipino boxing fans who disagree with Pacquiao
I am a Filipino and been a member for several years now. Ok, first of all I would like to make a point that Manny Pacquiao is not adored by all Filipinos. He is respected as a boxer more rather than a person.
I have made comments on Pacquiao a few years back that he is not as humble as he appears to be. And now I am proven to be right. The guy is so far up his own ass that a simple drug test request from Mayweather insulted him to the point of destroying the chances of this fight.
Second, I hate it when people generalize and we have a lot of members who do. A lot of you guys think that there are very few Filipino boxing purist. Have you ever been in the Philippines and watch our local boxing scene? This is how Pacquiao developed and others as well. If boxing is not supported in our country then where would Pacquiao be right now? I don't even have to justify this, some of you guys think that being a purist makes you better. Not all but a lot!
Going back to Manny. He is full of it. I used to hate the person, now I hate the fighter as well. What a dumb move. I do not believe that Manny is on roids. Roids are not rumpant here in the Philippines. Cocaine, shabu and marijuana is the norm. hahaha. He is just so arrogant and self absorb nowadays.
Although, I am happy he is in the hot seat. He will not win the elections. The guy can't even handle this issue properly, how can he adressed the problems in his local town.
I will say this...... MANNY IS NOT TREATED AS GOD HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES...... whoever thinks that is stupid. We have a collection of Manny jokes and he is laughed at for running in the elections. You're fight is in the ring Manny, not the courts and certainly not in politics.
Violent Demise--- stop calling us flips. Grow up.
Please change the thread title. It's Filipinos not Philipinos. Quite confusing. That's because Filipino is the right way to spell it in english and Pilipino for Tagalog(local language).

Re: Philipino boxing fans who disagree with Pacquiao
i'm filipino and i think pacnuthugging is sickening. i go to pacland website for news about pacquiao and other filipino fighters. i check the forums sometimes but man it does get irritating. i guess its a filipino thing. we filipinos are very clannish and if one of our own is show in good light, we're very proud. but when one of our own is shown in a bad light, it's either we keep our blind faith or we bring them down, HARD. we filipinos are prone to crab mentality. but we're also very passive aggressive. in this case, we have our manny, our nation's pride and redeemer and he gets all this bad rap. it would naturally hurt us to see all these things going on but we filipinos are too emotional that logic goes straight out the window. i guess its a cultural thing. we've been shat on for generations that we would hold on to everything we can just to get the upper hand.
me, i just want the damn fight to happen. and it WILL! if not march, then late 2010. i'm sure if it.

Sorry, don't know how to edit the title thread, but would say I'm certainly not generalizing about all Filipinos. I'm sure that there are Filipinos who are fans of boxing and not just Manny, I just wanted them to shout out because the noisy ones who support Manny seem very single minded and very aggressive to any discussion that would seem negative towards Manny. Hopefully you guys can show the the other side of Filipino boxing fans

Titleist905t,
I was going to ask this the other day. Does the Filipines know how Manny is handling this whole issue about PEDs? If so, will people still be motivated to vote for him?
Also, how is the media in the Filipines talking about this? Are they questioning Manny or are they defending him or maybe half and half? Just curious.

That's a good step mate. Next step might be to admit that all his contradicting excuses of why he doesn't want to get his blood tested makes him look suspicious the more he talks about the subject, right?

The media is being carefull in critisizing Manny. Why? Because he brings in the big bucks for them and ratings. There are only 2 major television networks here in the Philippines that can broadcast Manny's fights. One of them is ABS-CBN. ABS-CBN is not a nuthugger and was crucified for it. They used to broadcast Manny's fight but lost it to GMA 7 because Manny was attacked on a personal level by one of the popular tv personalities at ABS-CBN.
Another proof that Manny is not as humble as people percieve him to be. The Filipinos are divided in their opinions. But I would say that the majority is now pissed off with the way Manny is handling things.

The general opinion seems to be if you question the refusal then you must be a PBF fan/nuthugger/Manny hater!
Also they won't even concede that it would be possible for him to be on PED's. How can you possibly justify that?
Would like to know if there are genuine Philipino BOXING fans out there
count me as one. we are many in this forum. true boxing fans. ehrrm.... if defending the accomplishments of Pac (until he's proven guilty) is nut hugging then you may call me a certified nuthugger.
All I know is that I have a countryman who has excelled in boxing (possibly, the greatest of all time if he TKOS gayweather) and I will call anyone who makes a bad repute of him ( like calling him a drug user without evidence) a Pac hater.
I know it's possible for PAc or for anyone to be on PEDS but as he is willing to take any test, then I'd say he's not on PEDs.
Come on Gayweather. Accept the term and sign the contract and prove that you're not ducking the greatest threat on your 0.

I always wondered where the "manny is humble" spiel came from too. He, like pbf, has a hell of a lot of yes men around him who get paid for doin jack shit! Michael konz anyone? Wtf does he do? He seems to throw money about almost as carelessly as pbf too. Even roach said he's not the same pac anymore.
And you want mindless filipino's? 2 words - You Tube
But to be fair its not just filipino's. I was surprised that the general public actually are siding with pac on this
calling floyd scared and a pussy.
Amazing
not really amazing coz truth of the matter is, Floyd decided to retire so he won't fight Cotto and other top contenders in the 147. He was afraid of Williams then and he was shit scared of Cotto.
so whether you accept it or not, people see floyd as afraid of Pac coz they can trace floyd's history.
I agree fully with titleist. PAc is not seen as a god here. He will not last a day as a politician in the Philippines.
As a politician, Pac is laughing stock. As an actor, we see all his dramas as comedies. As a singer, I could sing better than him.ehmmmm.
I don't even see pac as a humble fighter. I see him as an actor doing his part.
In real life, many filipinos (that includes me) hate his womanizing. I personally hate his gambling and all his fighting cocks.
I personally hate his associates ( crooked politicians). Filipinos know who they are.
BUT as a fighter in the ring, PAc is truly remarkable. An all-time great. No one can deny that.
Pac is a Filipino but as a fighter he represents what it is to be a true warrior. When I defend Pac, it's not because I'm nuthugging though I may sound one. It's because I'm a true boxing fan.
I love the way he knocks people. i love the way he developed from a one-dimensional fighter to an almost complete one. I love the way he trains for a fight. His dedication is something that every fighter should have.
he doesn't trash talk his opponent. he does his talking in the ring and that why he's adored by many filipinos and other boxing fans as well.
So to answer the thread starter 's questions: the answer is yes. Many will disagree with Pac on the drug testing issue.
personally, I 'd say to Pac take the drug test and dispel all doubts and take your place as the greatest of all time after you win over GAyweather.
Pac has nothing to lose in this fight. he will have his $40 million+ after the fight and he can retire win or loss.
If he loses, he just lost to a big great man. He's a small great fighter and no shame in that. you have your $40 million. Live like a king in the Philippines.
If he wins, he will be catapulted to greatness alongside Robinson, Ali, Duran, etc.

Being a country man has nothing to do with being a boxing fan. I feel that you must learn to look at things objectively and not go along with the blind belief that Manny can do no wrong and if anyone criticizes him then they are haters. Nobody is saying he is on PED's, but his own actions are counting against him and making it look bad.
I'm sure you won't even accept the possibility that there is the chance he could be on PEDs even though you have no back-up except "your belief".
Manny should be taking the best test out there.
I hope for the sake of all his hard-core/ blinded fans that the day never comes where he will have to make that famous press statement, like those who have gone before when denying, with tears in his eyes about how sorry he is, and how bad he feels, and how he wish he could have changed it. Presumably preceded by I didn't know I was taking them, it was my trainer/nutritionist, it was an accident etc

please read my reply regarding how i hate Pac. I'm not blindly agreeing on whatever pac does. I'm as neutral as you are but I take pac's side as a boxing fan because whether you accept it or not, those who TRULY know about PEDs say that MAyweather is making a ludicrous demand.
Now, as to Pac taking the random drug test, I'd say to pac, " take it just to kill the issue".
AS of the moment,I see this action of MAyweather and ODLH as schemes to take away Pac's accomplishments.
Mayweather hates the fact that Pac took the pound for pound tiara from him( and in a more convincing manner). ODLH simply hated Pac for killing his plans to continue fighting. There's no better way for ODLH to have the chance to fight again than to destroy Pac's reputation. It's clear to me now why ODLH is bent on pursuing this issue. He's using Mayweather and Mayweather is loving how he's being used here.
I'd say to ODLH,well done. Your plan is working well. I hope it won't backfire.
now to satisfy you and you can put this in the record, I'd also say that Pac is foolish for not accepting immediately this demand on drug testing. He was too proud but I can't totally blame him. Arum made it clear before the negotiation started that they won't easily succumb to whatever demand Gayweather asks.Their plan backfired and PAc became the victim.
So plan B must proceed. There's little time left.;)

I have to agree with you. I don't even visit the Philippine boxing forums anymore due to the fanaticism and close-mindedness. Mind you, not all Filipinos think this way. I should know. I'm one of them. I find it hard to even tolerate them (the Pacnuts) but it's still a free world and it does make things interesting in a sickening sort of way.
I just can't help but provide my input on this circus of an event. I personally feel that Manny should just take the test and get it over with. Ok. Pac doesn't like his blood taken a few days before the fight. Personally, I feel that this is bullshit but to each his own bullshit. However, how the Mayweather camp and GBP is dictating things doesn't fare well especially for using Pacquiao as a guinea pig in this testing thing if ever it becomes the standard. He's the first ever Filipino that has received worldwide acclaim and they're also using him as a guinea pig in the zenith of his career. The Filipino contingent doesn't take this lightly. Well... I doubt any nation or race will take things lightly if they're treated this way. Much like how Obama shouldn't be criticized since he's the first African-American US President... Ok. You can remove that last part if you're offended. I'm just making comparisons in a neutral Filipino standpoint.
I also do not approve of the lawsuit thing. Ok. Manny gets his millions (if ever) but where does it leave the boxing fans? We're the reason why they're as big as they are in the first place. Even if Pacquiao wins this case, it only means that he skipped the drug test which doesn't fare well in a boxing fan's mind. He's already accused and there's no such thing anymore as innocent until proven guilty. Yes, it sucks, but that's life. As for the Mayweather is getting hurt more than Pacquiao in the PED thing. I also think that's bullshit. Mayweather has already received some negativity due to his alleged "ducking" for quite some time now. On the other hand, Pacquiao is the good guy which is turning bad really fast in the boxing world.
It's such a waste.

I just can't help....
wow, it's great that there are a lot of filipino posters over here who aren't as retarded as the ones in pacland. there are some intelligent posters there though... around 6%.
in fact, even though i'm originally exclusively a mayweather fan before pac-diaz(now i'm a fan both, more with pac recently though), the other filipino posters here seem more neutral than me.

Thank you for restoring the faith!!!
Health sensible and passionate discussion is great, in fact a must in boxing. I is part of the culture, appeal and atmosphere in the boxing world. It is what I remember most fondly as a child listening to the intense and often hilarious debate amongst my father and his friends discussing/watching a fights or talking about boxing generally.
Don't see the point in random abuse!!

The only one that is making his accomplishments look shady is PAC HIMSELF by acting all suspicious about taking random blood tests and coming out with all kinds of silly excuses that contradict each other.
