It's sad that Cotto's Career ruined by 2 Suspected Cheats
MIguel Cotto is the epitome of an ring warrior. He gave the boxing fans what they want. He never ducked a fighter within his weight class and was also a thrilling fighter in the ring.
But it's this bravery that was also his downfall. Margarito was 1 of the most avoided fighters at 147 and Cotto still gamely took on the challenge. He was never the same after that fight, it took a lot out of him. And many people suspected that Margarito used plaster, it may not have been proven but it will always be asked did Margarito used loaded gloves for what was his biggest fight since he used it against Shane Mosley?
The 2nd alleged cheater is Pacman, with rumors, accusations, and innuendos whispered throughout the boxing world. The so called Flip warrior is afraid of needles, even though he has tats all over and refused a random blood test for 40 million. It has never been proven that he's chemically enhanced but he could have dispelled all the rumors by accepting the 14 day proposaly by PBF. Cotto also took this fight even at a severe disadvantage of being weight drain agaisnt a suspected PED cheat.
It's sad to see an amirable warrior like Cotto have his career ruined like this.

Re: It's sad that Cotto's Career ruined by 2 Suspected Cheats
Its sad that regardless of all the other goings on in Boxing people can not manage to bring up Pacquiaos name in every post or thread that is put on here....Even sadder that in these post and threads with no real proof actually NO PROOF WHAT SO EVER ON MANNY THUS FAR....
People have labeled him a cheat....The saddest is the fact that they look for other reasons beside the Mayweather/Pacquiao goings on to bring it up....
Who says Cottos career is ruined? If Manny took the test tommorow and it was proven he does not use enhancements what does that say about Cotto?.....
Regardless of what was found on Tony's wraps before the Mosley fight who is to say for certain that Margarito had loaded gloevs for the Cotto bout?
All is just suspect when you post stuff like this you should treat it as not as if it was written in stone....In the end you make yourself look like a tabloid follower
-
Re: It's sad that Cotto's Career ruined by 2 Suspected Cheats
Its all a matter of perspective. As has been mentioned above. Its not confirmed that either of them cheated. Also I don't think cotto escapes blame in this.
For the sake of arguement, lets say cheato did use the plaster wraps. Who would have spotted it? or checked cheatos wraps? A better trainer did spot it and report it. Who would have taught Cotto to avoid the uppercut which has a been a money punch for any opponent that cared to use it.... it would have worn him down with or without wraps.
Let's also say this "needlegate" crap with Pacquaio was brought up by Cotto and not Mayweather? The spotlight could have been shined on this issue before now. In the fight, what if Cotto spent more time working the jab and moving and less time relying on being the bigger man. (or had a better trainer)
Theres a lot more cotto could have done and was negligent on. Getting a better trainer for instance-- didnt he have an offer from Manny Steward?). Working on his defense, sticking to a game plan etc. As long as suspicion and hypotheticals are counting, what if he spend less time banging his secretary and more time taking and interest in his career. As you've mentioned, Bravery will get you only so far.. then it will get you killed. Attention to details could have saved Cotto a lot of trouble.

I hate to say it but it's possible that you're correct on both counts.
Both of these statements may be completely true:
1. Marg's corner decided to put the plaster in his wraps for the Mosley fight, where he was a huge favorite, they claimed it protected his hands (lol, and they had to rewrap them multiple times due to defiance). For some reason they decided not to do this for the biggest fight of his career against Cotto, where he (Marg) was the underdog.
2. Pacquiao wasn't juicing, his climb through the weight classes was legit. He is just honestly scarred of needles to the point where he feels it'll weaken him (mentally, not physically) in preparation for the fight - when he knows his opponent would have to undergo the same random blood-testing methods. For this, he's decided to pass on the highest-grossing fight in history.
Like I said, both statements could be true, but neither is likely, especially the first. It's too bad these things are impossible to prove. Fighters like Marg and Pac make me question why I am a fan of this so-called "sport".
Regardless, Cotto is a true warrior. His career has undoubtedly been ruined, he had to dig deep to get the championship rounds of those fights, but was ultimately outclassed (probably unfairly). I feel the worst for him, in that neither of those two fighters has been proven to be a cheat, and they are both still fighting. These things must weigh on his mind every day. Nevertheless, he has been a true gentleman about the situation, saying that (although both are suspicious), only camp Margarito and Pacquiao know if they cheated, we will likely never find out. I tip my hat to Cotto, who, if he'd forsaken his vow to fight the best, I feel could've been one of the greatest fighters of our generation.

Up until today there was no proff that Mark McGwire took steroids. There was no proof Marion Jones took them till BALCO got raided. There's no proof Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens took steroids. Manny is a guy who moved up to featherweight five years ago and got beat by a shot fighter who never won a fight again after that night. At that point Manny's record was 39-3-2 with 30 knockouts in 44 fights. Since then he's gone 11-0 with 8 knockouts. In his last fight he was beating a legitimate elite welterweight around the ring like he was the bigger guy and Cotto was the former flyweight. So in this day and age with the history of PED abuse there's been over the past decade or so it's legitimate to question whether Manny is a steroid abuser. And then for him to refuse tests that would dispel the rumours and lose anything up to $60 million because of it, it doesn't make you wonder? If I had to put money on it I'm betting he's a cheat.
And in reply to the thread, yeah, I really feel for Cotto. He must feel really pissed off about this now. It's not like he lost a World Series or finished second in a footrace, he had two career-altering altercations with two fucking crooks. He can never get back what those scumbags stole from him.

Re: It's sad that Cotto's Career ruined by 2 Suspected Cheats
Speaking of Mark McGuire. He just admitted steroid use right now! It's big news on ESPN.

...but more than likely, he should be paying the millions he earned, by cheating, back to the fighters that were unfairly beaten. He had the chance to throw all of it back into the faces of his critics. He acted exactly how a juicer would've. I don't understand how his fans can still defend him when Floyd offered to end the random testing two weeks before the fight. Whether you hate Floyd or not, you need to have some grip on reality. The reality is that Pacman has done everything he can to confirm the allegations.

are you by any chance a part of the mayweather camp? or floyd sr. or maybe money himself? you keep posting stuff that has no proof. he should pay millions to who? who was proven to have been cheated by manny so far? he acted exactly how a juicer would have? do we have any criteria on how a juice would act. mcgwire acted normally until he fessed up today so what are you saying? manny was offered two weeks cut off of random testing? you believe it coz floyd said so? if i tell you my d**k is 14 inches, would you believe it coz i said so? youre so gullible about every damn thing you read. were you in that room where the mediation happend? no... i was not there so i dont speculate. you talk to us manny fans like we are delusional yet here you are believing every thing they write about what floyd and his camp said. now.. everybody is trying to wash their hands off this failed negotiations so i dunno how you could believe anything anymore. PURE SPECULATIONS. manny should sue you too so you'll stop slandering him.

The 14-day-cutoff limit was issued in Floyd's official statement. From what I've read on the subject (which is a lot), no one has denied that claim. Thus, while I don't believe everything that I read, it's safe to assume that some of it is true; that comment being example A. As for Manny's new sue-happy state, I hope he does try to sue me. It seems that's his preferred method of competition these days, only difference is that it's harder to cheat the legal system than it is urine tests ;). Call it speculation or whatever you want. I would love for Manny to prove me wrong. You're completely right in that I have no solid proof.. so, lets go to the proving grounds, lets take the random blood tests... oh... wait... ;)

so you have a problem with him suing people that purposely ruined his rep? dont tell me that his reputation is not ruined because it is. he is to blame somehow too by refusing the random blood test but also because some people who has no credibility was allowed to make hollow allegations. if manny said that mayweather was on steroids dont you think floyd wont sue him? i would love for him to prove everybody wrong but thats what it is now. he refused. if i accuse you of killing somebody but its just my word against yours wont you ask me for evidence. if i cant provide evidence that case is dismissed right? so the same for manny and this whole PEDS fiasco.

So lets just forget that Manny has gained a rediculous amount muscle in a short span of time, increasing his KO % against larger guys at a ripe age, let's forget about all of the suspicious comments and excuses coming from his camp, lets forget about the erratic way him and his camp acted when asked to take some simple blood tests. Lets just sweep it all under the rug. That's your solution? I'm sorry but Manny hasn't been investigated yet, hasn't went to trail because he refuses to do so. You 'innocent until proven guilty' argument won't work here.
Also, I can't believe that you'd defend his decision to sue left right and center. Must be a Law & Order fan before a boxing fan  Did you or anyone else really take it seriously when Floyd Sr accused him a couple months ago? I know I didn't. Pretty much no one did. Then Malignaggi questions the fact, with evidence... people got a little suspicious. Finally without EVER accusing Manny, Floyd Jr requests random blood testing for their bout and camp Pacquiao hits the roof and suddenly gets sue-happy. No wonder most of boxing is curious concerning Pac's methods. I'm a fan of the sport of boxing before I'm ever a fan of a particular fighter. If Floyd had refused a more conclusive type of test when well-founded allegations were thrown at him, I'd be suspicious too. To become a serious sport boxing will need to implicate random blood tests at some point, Manny will simply go down as the last fighter to absolutely refuse... support the last juicer if you want, but don't insult my intelligence with your 'no proof' argument. How does one obtain proof when all roads are blocked? If I killed someone and denied it, against your word, there would be an investigation/trial. Manny isn't willing to allow that.
Back on topic. Cotto is a great fighter and will hopefully go down as one of the last victims of dirty techniques being employed in this sport. I love boxing and I hope it improves.

I see that you, like most of the general public are sorely misinformed. BTW, despite his Balco past, Mosley agreed to random blood testing, although Floyd said it wasn't required in this case. Notice how Mosley's camp didn't hit the roof when it was mentioned? It sure is funny that a known past user jumps at the opportunity to be tested conclusively, while Pacquiao runs the other way. I think Pac might be on some things that Mosley isn't (these days) :D

Re: It's sad that Cotto's Career ruined by 2 Suspected Cheats
I think it's early to tell if Cotto's career is over. How can one say Cotto wasn't the same after Margarito? He had a fight with Clottey which he had to dig deep to win and then he fought Pac. How about we wait and see what he does this year and the next to decide if he's shot or not?

We can tell by watching his movements and such in fights. Also, many get the feeling that mentally, he isn't the super-confident, 32-0 undefeated fighter that he was when he went in against Margarito. If he can manage to get over the mental blocks created from the two brutal losses, we may see flashes of the old Cotto. Still, he had a long list of physical injuries as a result of those bouts and it's hard for any fighter to come back stronger after wars like those.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that with talent like his, he can still compete in championship bouts. There's been a lot of talk about a fight with Hatton. That might be just the kind of fight he needs to regain some of that lost confidence. That would be a very physical, brutal fight, that would end with Cotto really hurting Hatton.

the premise of the thread is IF it is really Nate fighting Floyd. (Nate himself issued a statement ) IM not arguing "Nate fighting Floyd" as backup to my claims. that thread is about the level of fighters if nate gets the fight

Are you now sure of that statement? Just to give you additional background.
Before Sr. explosive bomb
ERik is shot
DelaHoya is a Zombie
Hatton is overrated
Cotto was beaten by Marg for Pac
After the bomb
Manny is roiding
Which one is it really? cmon make up your mind.

The sticking point is Mayweather being arrogant and thinking he can dictace the terms of the fight.

Manny Pacquio should get Millions in damages.
He may end up facing a class action suit from Cotto, Hatton, De La Hoya, Erik Morales etc. in the future and end up giving his millions away.
Are you now sure of that statement? Just to give you additional background.
Before Sr. explosive bomb
ERik is shot
DelaHoya is a Zombie
Hatton is overrated
Cotto was beaten by Marg for Pac
After the bomb
Manny is roiding
Which one is it really? cmon make up your mind.
LoL, is it not possible that the majority of those statements are true?
I believe that all of those claims have merit, except for the first, Morales was not 'shot' when he fought Pacquiao the second and third times. He was past his prime due to many wars, but he was definitely not done. DLH was definitely affected by the weight, one only has to look at the numbers and watch the state he was in and the way he was fighting to figure that out. Fatal flaws have been exposed in Hatton's game, although Manny did utilize those quite well. The Cotto win did surprise me, even though he was not the superior boxer that he was prior to getting his head beaten in with bricks.
....But at the end of the day.. do any of his 'impressive' KOs mean anything if he cheated? (I won't get into that argument as there are hundreds of other threads dealing with it)
& SEANIE, you offer no real argument in your post so I won't bother with it.

This whole thread is built around speculation from a sad Cotto fan. Get over yourself.

I'm a boxing fan first and foremost. And I'm not really a Cotto fan, but just thought he got cheated and his career ruined.
