Pascal v Dawson confirmed for August 14th Montreal Canada HBO

Should be a good fight, nice clash of styles, I think Dawson will come out on top but should be a good close fight.

That's a great fight to make, but August is forever away.

This is a unification fight right? Great stuff!
I'm kinda surprised that this fight is happening in Montreal but there you go.

Not really Dawson's fault, I mean the division is full of old men. B-Hop has publically stated he won't fight Dawson until after RJJ where he plans to unify the titles.
Cloud is injured, Henry isn't exactly top tier, all the rest are over 35.
The next jab at Dawson is why not go down to 168, well aside from Bute (who's got his own stuff going on) The other important 168 lbers are in the tourney.

 wasnt having a pop
calzaghe and hopkins both turned him down, not his fault he`s last 4 fights have pretty much had to go under everyones radar
Just pissed at the people at HBO that decided they`d like to see the tarver and johnson fights both repeated again....nobody wanted to see either fight second time around

Tarver/Dawson II was pointless, although Tarver was more competitive the second time and from what I understand there was a rematch clause in their contract.
Johnson/Dawson 1 was an extremely close fight, there was a case for Johnson actually getting the nod and so I think that was an acceptable fight to the public in general. Furthermore Johnson breaking down and destroying a young prospect in Yusaf Mack, shows he still has a competitive ability. Unfortunately, we may be robbed of seeing Johnson/Cloud because of Don King, that remains to be seen.

 Uh.... Adamek?

I agree that Dawson beats Pascal, and probably without a ton of difficulty. He is faster and far more skilled.

But the first johnson fight was as ugly and scrappy as you could possibly hope to get, the only thing that came out of that fight is that chad would of hopefully learnt his lesson and not tried to go toe to toe with johnson again. Second time around was always going to go 12 and it was always going to end in a dawson UD
You could stick those 2 in the ring 300 times a year and at least 280 of them occasions you`d end up with a 116-112 dawson esque scorecard
I would of actually preffered to of seen chad in with a lesser name and putting on a show

Not really, Pascal has the WBC strap and Dawson has the interim WBC strap.

Johson-Dawson I was close simply because Chad wanted to fight a crowd pleasing fight. As shown in the second fight he could have easily outboxed Glen Johnson which he did in the early rounds.

 Huh!?
So Dawson has had to fight Tarver & Johsnon TWICE and not one title fight? Jeez that's messed up. I need to go check the 175 ratings to see what mugs actually have these belts...
*** Edit***
who the fuck is BEIBUT SHUMENOV?!

Hence, the closeness of it. I would wager you are in the minority of thinking it didn't merit a rematch based on how close it was. I mean how many times has Glen Johnson lost a close fight? How many times has he got an opportunity to set the record straight? Johnson if nothing else in his career has earned that.
And you're talking about Dawson fighting a lesser fighter, who would have tuned in for Dawson/Plotinsky? You have to have people watching or it does not get put on tv.

For some reason Dawson was stripped of the WBC title after the first Johnson fight and stripped of the IBF title before the second Johnson fight. He's had the IBO title all along, but that's a side of fries, not a real title.

:vd: My god, so if Dawson beats Pascal, he'll be a three-time-champion woo-hoo!

Yeah even more odd he's not the Ring magazine champ even though he's beat the number two guy twice (Johnson)
Beibut Shumenov is a guy that just got a gift decision against Gabriel Campillo who should rightfully have the WBA title. I mean that was definately the worst decision of the year.

Re: Pascal v Dawson confirmed for August 14th Montreal Canada HBO

I wouldn't hold your breath on this one. They've already put the date back twice before they even announced it because they don't know when Pascal's shoulder is going to be OK again. I have a feeling the fight won't happen in August either.

Re: Pascal v Dawson confirmed for August 14th Montreal Canada HBO

Whoever said Glen Johnson vs Chad Dawson 1 wasn't entertaining, must be a very hard boxing fan to please. I thought it was a very good fight, and one of the finest Light Heavyweight fights i've seen in this decade.

You don't normally see two Light Heavyweights going at it like that, the only other memorable Light Heavyweight fights i can think of in this decade off the top of my head were, Tomasz Adamek vs Paul Briggs, Dariusz Michalczweski vs Richard Hall, Julio Cesar Gonzalez vs Julian Letterlough.

I also don't understand people criticizing Chad Dawson, for taking the rematch with Glen Johnson. When many people thought it was a controversial decision, and everyone wanted the rematch. Now because Chad Dawson beat Glen Johnson so easily in the rematch, some people changed there minds which escapes me really.

Chad Dawson at this point in time, has took the best available fights he could get. The only other fighter he possibly could of fought was Tavoris Cloud. But would he have really got much credit for beating a green Tavoris Cloud ?

As for Jean Pascal i've been very impressed with him for quite awhile, despite some poor performances early on his career. He showed some bottle in the Carl Froch fight, and has improved ever since. And i become a massive fan of his after showing incredible courage.

Fighting with a dislocated shoulder, against a dangerous opponent like Adrian Diaconu. And still winning pretty comfortably on points, i just hope that doesn't ruin his career. Because he is a fine fighter who looks to have improved, quite a bit in only a short time.

As for the fight itself im picking Chad Dawson, i think the big reach and height advantages will be the key. And also because Chad Dawson now seems more seasoned fighting more technical and smart. Which showed in his last two fights.

But i wouldn't count out Jean Pascal, who will certainly give Chad Dawson fits. With his speed and athletism, Chad Dawson hasn't fought anyone with the physcial gifts that Jean Pascal has.

Re: Pascal v Dawson confirmed for August 14th Montreal Canada HBO

dawson no question. Pascal will make him fight though.
