he won a grueling fight against a former lightweight titlist who is a small welter. Erik will not win any major welter belt, too slow and not enought power imo. He should stay retired.
Good on you Erik Morales its just a shame, the judges robbed you of making history vs David Diaz.
well i just saw the fight, Morales looked extremely soft, but in the fight he didn't look as bad as i expected him to be, he could have stopped his opponent but pretty much boxed most the fight, his speed is pretty much non-existent, his counters were fairly sharp against weak opposition (and ring rust), and his defense wasn't too good either he took a couple flush shots and he's lucky that this guy didn't really have any power, he did have surprisingly good stamina though, went the full 12 rounds and didn't seem too tired, although there was some mess up with the clock counting down the final round lol
he said that he's probably gonna try and drop to 140 or 135 for his next fight though
i say good for him that he picked up the W but should just hang em up on this victory
But him wishing for a 4th fight against Pacquiao? Give him a coffin...;D

Morales will always be a great fighter. He truly defeated Pacquiao in the first fight. I knew the curtain was closing by the second fight, but the third fight was a doozey... I watch that fight, it's so inspiring as a Morales fan. To go out on his shield like that and really contend with Pacquiao, the man to knock him out just months before.... that's just amazing. If you can pick up on that symbolism, then I can talk boxing with you all day.
I was against the Diaz fight, I wanted Morales to retire... but I saw the fight anyways... I was cheering so loud, I must have woke the neighbors... no other current fighter can get me as cheery as watching a Morales fight. Now I say, he can do what he wants: Retire or Fight. Hey... Ali did what he wanted, he's in a horrible state now, but that's the way life is... it's not all rainbows and butterflies.

Morales was a great fighter and a survivor of many ring wars. He had a long absence and ring rust. Let him fight a few opponents that will in succession make him rise to his best whatever that may turn out to be and then it will be up to him, win lose or leave. Watched about 4 rounds of this last night. He didn't look great, but then again i didn't expect him to. Definitely not the fighter he was before, he looked out of shape. It's up on youtube if you don't mind watching it in sections.
