Just saving Froch a beating this could be good for him!;D

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
I ws also going to take the piiss about that remark but after searching there is a ferry direct to Denmark from England but its a 18 hour trip, then a few more hours drive.
Either way, this is a big disruption to the biggest fight of his career, theres going to be a massive backlog of passengers to clear as well, so his supporters may not even get over at all;D
-
Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
So am I the idiot in all of this then? lol I'm still smarter then Froch, I think.
And I haaaate tunnels. They are the worse.

I'm sure Froch can afford a car that will fit Tam in it.

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
You'd think they would have immediately begun making other arrangements as soon as it became clear that the volcano might disrupt their travel plans.
Call me crazy, but I think an 18 hour boat trip from England to Denmark would be pretty fucking cool too.

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
Was anyone on here going over for this?
Are they having to rethink their travel plans now?
Kesslers promoters have said Froch wont use it as an excuse because they will personally fly him over in a helicopter if they have to.
Cant see the logic there though, the reason planes arent flying is because the ash will clog the engines. Do they think helicopters fly just by will;D
-
Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
Not good news really.:o
Froch is going to need time to settle and is not going to like a long journy.:(
Could see this fight getting put on hold.
Glad I have not paied for the PPV yet.;D

Not an expert in the subject but helicopters fly a lot lower than planes so it might go under the ash.

Well, whatever they decide he should get going now.

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
Is the fight this week or next?

Don't think thats the case, I believe the ash is problematic for planes because it will get sucked through the turbines and corrode them or something. Chopper blades I doubt would be affected, there are all kinds of coniditions that Helicopters can fly in which planes can't.

A quick google search leads me to conclude that helicoptors were grounded too, with the exception of air and sea rescue, but that they can fly in some cases becuase of the lower altitude.
There is no way a helicoptor would happily fly through an ash cloud though imo. They would keep well under.

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
Isn't the entire airspace closed though? I know it is over Norway I would imagine that extends to Denmark.

Probably but I expect Bear Grylls or some other rich toff air enthusiast is planning to pass through it in a pedal powered flying bike or an air balloon just to set a world record for the longest one man flight through a volcanic dust cloud.

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
Helicopters have engines too. Its the ash clogging up the air filters and stuff.....
Froch and his team will now be panicking;D
Kesslers team will be loving it;D
-
Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
Some flights are back on tomorrow...he might travel then. It shouldn't stop the fight happening though if there's other ways to get there? I mean, Barcelona are driving to Milan for their Champions League game next week, surely Froch can get there someway if he can't fly
-
Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
It's only Denmark, it's not like he has to get to Australia. You can drive there in 18 hours on a bus, he can train and sleep on a bus or something. It's no big deal.

Thanks chief, I was so sure Helicopters ran by a winch with a 1500000:1 ratio and some gargantuan man giving it stink the whole way through;D Who is that Tyson is sparring with in your sigi there, anyone well known? He does a good job to keep his guard up for that upper.

That will cost him a fortune, would have been cheaper to fly.

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
i guess he never heard of a boat before.. vikings used boats when they ruled the northern atlantic and north sea. come on. it could be like two days but its better than being stuck or driving to denmark thru france belgium and germany

Im sure its Oliver McCall, Steve Lott sent me about 100 minutes of stuff hed recorded himself, including a load of rounds of Mike sparring Oliver McCall in a Japanese gym prior to the Tubbs fight.
McCall did a lot of biitching during the sparring, he was strong but didnt like it when Mike gets the better of him, Rooney changes partners a few times because of it.

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
I think the main problem for Froch will actually be getting over the channel. All the radio stations are telling us not to try and turn up at the ferry terminals or the channel tunnel train station without a ticket, and that they are full for the next few days....if he can get to calais with a motor, he should be able to make it....maybe he can hire a fishing boat or something to get him across.

Maybe he could hire Uncle Albert and Del Boy to take him across.

Re: Froch stuck in England by Volcanic ash
On a serious note, I think this could be a potential FOTY. Both have solid chins, can bang and don't mind going to war.
Can't see there being a problem with Froch getting there, He'll get over easy enough by Ferry and most of the hard training should be done. The climate isn't really much different from britain so that shouldn't be much of a factor, although i'd have already been there myself. I'd have made plans as soon as the cloud of ash appeared and shut down airports.

Is a ferry really a fitting way for a world champion to travel though?
It's like if all the roads were gridlocked forcing a world champ to ride through the fields on the back of a tractor, hardly the most glamourous of arrivals.

Maybe not, but Froch likes to think of himself as a man who'll fight anybody, anywhere and under any circumstance, so a bit of a ferry ride and then drive should not hurt him too much!
