WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
We all know that Mayweather can be an asshole and he says a lot of things just for shock factor and in hopes of drawing more viewers to either support or call for his head..
Last night he went too far IMO in making comments about Shane doing his father Jack wrong because he has a new trainer stating he is the type who only keeps it in the Family (Though he left out the part where he did not even talk to SR for how long?)
Plus the comments about Forrest...Taunting Shane for losing to him (IMO the version of Forrest Shane lost to gives any WW in history fits and beats 85% of them)
Was this just being Too disrespectful even for shock value? OR am I just being a bit too harsh on Floyd because I am sick of all his trash talk (much of it unneeded to try and sell tickets)

He's ignorant.
I was hoping Pac would beat him but I think Mosley can too.
He's just too damn annoying.

Hoping so...I really think he wants to avoid a fight with Manny at all cost...At least until there is no one left that will not cause him fanfare grief if he fights them....
Thats no being a Pacquiao fanboy or Mayweather hater...My honest opp

Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
Mayweathers whole marketing plan is to make you hate him as much as he possibly can, and it works. Floyd is no different than a bunch of others. Darchiniyan, mayorga, tyson with the below the belt classless nonsense he says. The funniest thing about it all is all the people who can't stand the guy are the main one's spreading his crap around. Every little retarded thing he does runs through the internet like wildfire and up's his bank acct just that much more. If people were to ignore his bullshit he'd only be spitting this crap off to himself and those in his camp. Entertaining themselves would get old and all the sillyness would stop. Dude is like rush limbaugh, the people that hate him most are his biggest fans, how many threads of ever been started by his fans about anything ??? Very few if any. He does this crap to get a reaction.....and sadly he gets exactly what he wants every time. There are good positive fighters who can't get their name in the media if they owned it, while this guy even in retirement is the most talked about guy in boxing.......smart marketing if you ask me. You don't see at&t and the wwe giving any of these other fighters a call for commercials and what not.

True but still one would think a fighter has a personal limit on what he will say:-\.....
I have never watched a Mayweather fight to see if or if not he was going to get beat....I watch them with no more interest then the undercard on ESPN FNF...
I never have and never would pay for a PBF PPV regardless of who he fights...If it is not free on stream I won't pay money for it...
Much of my dislike is not just for Floyd but the whole Mayweather family...They are all low class (Except Jeff)...Roger is a woman beater who thinks it is OK for him because his nephew is PBF and he makes a ton of money...
Floyd sits with his kids and teaches his kids to talk the way he does about other fighters....Ever bthink about teaching your kid respect..
He double talks out of his mouth...
he is always talking about money money money but yet he talks about how gangster he is and hard he grew up yet Jeff outed him telling the world Floyd grew up middle class with his grandmother most of the time....
If Floyd was honest with the shit he says would be one thing...Like Tyson was honestly a MF...Floyd plays the role...Much of what he says even about himself are lies....I have a hard time respecting liars like that....

All floyd talks is money and trash, it's so so boring now, he's even had to add in a whole lot of swearing this time round to make himself appear more interesting, and you know when it all comes crumbling, he's gonna be singing "money can't buy me love".... ha. He needs some love the guy I tell ya.

Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
It's real obvious. Floyd is scared.
-
Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
He's got to keep outdoing himself every new promotion. He was actually pretty respectful to JMM in his last fight but this one gives him plenty of opportunity to be mouthy and he's taking full advantage to sell the fight as much as he can. But basically every new promotion he has to amp up the Money persona a little bit more than last time. Don't forget Mosley got him started with the "I want to be like you when I grow up" bit at the start of all this but Floys doesn't need any encouragement and is just doing what he does because it makes people pay their fifty dollars.
-
Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
Yeah he's really turned the heat up this time. He didn't even give De La Hoya half the shit he is giving Shane.
As has been said. It doesn't seem like he believes in most of the stuff he says which makes it even harder to watch. I prefer the humble Floyd Mayweather post-Marquez but as Mar correctly pointed out...that ain't MONEY Mayweather.
That Mayweather would be one broke mofo.
-
Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
I wouldn't expect anything less from Floyd Mayweather. The guy is total and utter filth. All this bragging about money is surely not the right way to go when most white collar workers are struggling through terrible economic times either. Who would really want to waste money watching a braggart like that?
I hope Mosley decapitates the little tart.

Yes, and the fact that he is nigh on bankrupt only makes the 'money' persona look all the more ridiculous and he has the audacity to say "Shanes broke". Floyd is a mentalist.

I respect floyd to the max.I think he talks smack cause he nos people will pay too see him hopefully get his mouth closed. It's all business. And why not, who can blame him for that.it's served him well.I no he's a good guy deep down.regardless of all that secondary bullshit tho, and lookin at the fight, Im convinced shanes gonna put a woopin on this kid. What Im intriged to see is how floyd deals with that when it happens

Exactly, that is the thing - Everyone takes him personally. Although I don't like how hardcore he's puttin it on Shane, I have the common sense to recognise he is doing it to establish the good guy/bad guy divide. It's simple business...Everyone wants to watch a fight where there is one bad guy vs one good guy. Him and Shane will probably be out partying later that night.
Miles for example, I think calling him "filth" is a bit much. Someone who regularly uses his money for good causes as well as spending lavishly I have a hard time labelling as filth.
Someone who waits around for hours after press conferences signing autographs and taking pictures for fans I have a hard time labelling filth. (When "nice" guys like Ricky Hatton duck the fuck out on fans who have been waiting for hours)
You guys remind me of my mum - She hates Samuel L Jackson forever because of the breakfast scene in Pulp Fiction ;D it's irrational

Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
Floyd talks like this for one simple reason to get fans to hate him so much every fight they are paying their money to see him lose. People want to see him lose so badly they pay for everyone of his fights in hopes that it happens. Fans read too much into pre fight trash talk. Thats all it is pre fight trash talk. I've met Floyd in person (my brother was his sparring partner in 03) and he's actually a good dude.
-
Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
I don't take much of what Floyd says seriously. You can tell he's just playing the bad guy, ratcheting up the hate index and building interest in his fight. I do hope that Mosley rips his head off, 'cause I honestly don't think Pacquaio can do it.
Whenever I start to seriously dislike Floyd, I just remember the early days of Zab Judah... and then I'm pretty much over it. Difference is... Floyd is acting out a role. Zab was just a loud-mouthed, obnoxious punk. Although once Cotto bounced him off the canvas, I came to respect his bravery in the face of adversity. But back to Floyd... I'm not saying I'm a fan, especially when I honestly believe he's done his share of ducking and hand-picking opponents. His insistence on being called world's p4p after coming off a self-imposed retirement rubs me the wrong way, also. But I compare his personality to that of early Zab, and James Toney the heavyweight (who I also can't stand)... and Floyd doesn't seem so bad.

You just need to watch the first two minutes of the episode to see how low Floyd goes. Using the f-bomb to denigrate each of Mosley's losses and then say that he is also going to 'fuck you (Mosley) up' as well. And then you factor in all the preposterous hyperbole about being the greatest ever and all the other nonsense he says. The guy has no class and no respect for anything nor anyone (except his despicable father and family). He is unlikeable full stop. I don't buy into it all being an act, Floyd obviously has always been like this. I do think it is all way too dumb to get worked up about, so in that sense it doesn't really bother me. But I will say it for what it is and that is that I think Floyd is a low quality human being and too obsessed with the shallow things in life.
It will do him good to taste defeat and then go bankrupt. He might learn a little humility and respect.

Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
As everyone has said, it's all a role, he's just doing some acting, although he needs to improve on his acting skills a bit.;D
Floyd wasn't like this early in his career, probably 7 to 8 years in his career he started acting like this to get people to buy his fights once he started to realize the humble him and nice guy role wouldn't cut it.
I've been following him since '97 or so and just watch his prefight conferences from that time up till until he started fighting on big PPV fights and it's a sharp contrast.

Yeah, some of it might well be put on. But he is going way overboard with Mosley. I don't recall Floyd being quite this verbose in a good while and Mosley is a nice guy. I don't understand why anyone would be more inclined to buy a fight just because someone is denigrating the other opponent. It's all about the skillsets for me. I wouldn't mind so much if Floyd was able to carry it with some humour but I just don't find him very funny. Toney and Mayorga are able to do it and I don't actively dislike them. Just something about Floyd that leaves me a bit cold.
-
Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
I dont think hes playing a role at all...I think hes just an asshole. Its tired, literally makes me turn the channel.Hes saying the same crap, spends the majority of the info mercial that is 24/7 speaking on what Shane does.Crazily he does what some would say his detractors to of him.I mean, does he feel like he needs to pump Shane up to the general public.Sure he does, but being a naturally gifted mental midget talking out his azz helps alot. There ya go.
Oh and Floyd.....you aint no motherf'n Ali son
-
Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
Just my opinion, but if he'd played the likeable ODLH type, he'd probably be twice as rich as he is now.... Fact is, he plays the douchebag because the douchebag is close to his heart...
You could name 100 top fighters right now who wouldn't be a wanker like Floyd even if you offered them the same money he's getting..
Of course Floyd plays it up, and he knows it promotes fights and earns him money,,, but a lot of other things promote fights as well and earn you money... I just think there is a good reason he chose to play wanna be gansta bling bling douche over any other role.. Because that's mostly who he is....
That being said, I would watch him probably no matter what because he is a sensational boxer.. Phenomanol and even more than I want to see him win with his superiour skills, is see somone with even MORE superiour skills beat him....
Either way, being a douche doesn't make me want to watch him, his boxing does.... At some stage if he had some class deep down, he'd accept that is what people are watching him for as well... Other fighters who don't do it all in the ring, can let their mouths sell fights... Floyd is one of the few boxers who can let his ring performance speak entirely for itself and doesn't need this shit outside the ring...
He can keep telling himself he's playing the role to make the extra cash, but fact is...

I have to disagree with this. Floyd was not always like this. Floyd really only started this during the DLH pre-fight. He didn't play the bad guy role in other fights. Did he talk trash about some other fights yea he did but nothing on this level. When he tried to get a fight with Shane previously he wasn't playing the bad guy role. I think Floyd tried the clean cut route and it wasn't working for him so he took on the role of the bad guy and we all know in this day and age people love to hate. So he took that and fed into it, became the bad guy and thats the floyd you see today.

Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
It's clearly an act to just wind people like Daxx & Miles up to see him get beat. He played the nice guy for years & it got him nowhere.
I have to say the funniest thing is people saying he's going 'too far' with this stuff, talking about 'fucking Mosley up'. Er... this is boxing not tiddlywinks, of course they're going to talk like that.
Even though all the 'hate' is clearly for the cameras, it still ratchets up interest in this fight. I can't wait for Saturday.

I know it's not tiddlywinks, but Floyd annoys me when he says stuff like that and that's the only kind of thing you ever hear him say. Mosley gets 'fucked up' because takes on EVERYBODY. And there is Floyd who picks and chooses and ducks and dives and has the audacity to call himself the greatest of all time? He is not a SRR nor an Ali, not by a long shot. Neither is he a Cotto, or a Mosley, nor even a Pacquiao. The guy is a sham in that regard. These are fighters who will fight proper opponents fight in fight out (though I do have some reservations about Pac). Floyd openly admits that he doesn't give a hoot about legacy and only money. You know what, I believe him when he says that. I don't believe being a complete cretin is the way to build a fanbase nor influence people. I don't like ODLH, but he didn't need to build up his fanbase by 'pretending' to be a vile excuse for a human being. I don't believe it is all an act.

Then he's got you hook, line & sinker. I've seen how Floyd Mayweather is when dealing with his fans and other people when he came to London and it was a stark contrast. This was a guy who very clearly did care about his fans, he spent ages signing stuff for people who'd waited hours to catch a glimpse of him. I'm amazed that for such an astute guy you haven't caught onto this. Shane Mosley is a nice guy (apart from being a drug cheat of course :-X:-\), why doesn't he have the following & exposure Mayweather does??
Also given he's fighting Mosley, it would be tough to say he hasn't got a legacy that stands up with the best. It does as does Manny Pacquiao's.

Well put...Anyone who takes it as personal would be crazy the guy is just someone who will never effect you in any way (Unless you bet it all on him for the Mosley fight:D)...But How low will one stoop to sell themselves no matter what the role?
Where does it go past showmanship and become the loss of your dignity?
I guess everyone has a price right?
Yet if you are rich upon what one could possibly spent rationally why still do it? Greed?
Maybe Floyd is insecure?
Or just Scum like Sr and Roger?
How about seeing Floyd on 24/7 in 15 year training his son with no teeth in his mouth....Sr still hanging on....
Why does he need so many body guards? No fighter in history other then Ali and the Muslim faction had so many bodyguards....All for show....

Well, maybe he's got me because I just don't see the need to carry on like he does. He has the 24/7's to present himself and all he does is show himself to be a low quality human being. I don't know of any other fighter that has so consistently shown himself to carry out the same 'persona' over so many 24/7's. You don't see DLH, Hatton or Pacquiao needing these 'bad guy' alter ego personas to sell fights. It all leads me to think that Floyd is being just as real as the others have been. I'm sure Floyd has his nice side like everyone does, but I have rarely ever seen it nor been convinced when I have seen the glimpses through television.
Floyd fighting Mosley is a serious step up for him and for that he does deserve some credit. I think there are serious holes in his record of the past several years from JWW and above, but this is a proper fight.

ANd yet on fight night his haters will be tuning in to watch him, maybe even buy his fights. Even if you guys don't, you know you'll be trying to catch a free stream or something.;D
I'll be watching this in the theaters. Should be a cracking fight and money well spent.

But, then you're buying that how they are in 24/7 is how they are as people. I've heard from a number of people who've met him that Hatton is very rarely the 'man of the people' that he portrays himself to be. Given how dull they were on 24/7, you'd have never guessed that Miguel Cotto was sexually harassing women & Calzaghe had half of Bogota up his nasal passage.
Fight Camp 360 appears to be very much about showing how the fighters really are, 24/7 is about presenting them how we want them to be. It basically operates as a almost WWE-like promotional tool. They're much more determined than Showtime are to create dynamics and good/bad guys.

I'm sure it's not completely how they are, but to an extent you would hope that you are seeing something real. Maybe everything is just propaganda, but I would hope not. I just don't know why you would want your own propaganda to be so awful. Like I say, I don't see how that carry on can win you any supporters.
I agree that the 360 programme is really well done. It makes you think you are seeing things in real time and it isn't all planned out.

I can tell you for a fact that it gets a lot of young fans, who like the trash talking that evolved from the old WWE & rap music. I think boxing, particularly how it is reported by the boxing media, definitely feeds into the wrestling ideals of goodies & baddies. Some guys are nice guys so they can get away with cheating (Mosley, Abraham etc), whilst others are set up to be bad guys so get no sympathy even when they do little wrong (Mayweather, Froch, Paulie etc)

Well put.. Just like rappers and the like, talk about how much money they make in their music, floyd does the same..
I'm not a fan of how he acts on the 24/7 and such, but he's always a classy guy in the ring as far as i'm concerned.. he's all business, and after the fight he's a completely different person from what he is on 24/7 when talking about his opponents and such. I think floyd is very grateful for everything he has, considering what he started from.. He wants the on top of the world feeling, and i don't think you can hate on that.

Yeah, perhaps.
I don't know about WWE nor rap so I have no idea if that's the kind of thing that they like. If that's what motivates them then I do think it is an inferior way of approaching things though. I will never relate to a person like Floyd with the way he carries on.
The media might create goodies and baddies, but Floyd does only set himself up as a bad guy. How can you support the guy? I think his stance on drug testing was correct, but on everthing else he loses me.
I think the issue with Floyd is more than simply the media being against him. It's the selective choosing of opponents and the endless trashtalk. Put together they make someone that a boxing fan finds hard to respect to the full.

Re: WTF was with some of Mayweathers low class comments last night on 24/7?
People can dog me for saying this all they want... I don't care.
If Floyd were to get into a ridiculous car crash tomorrow and mangle his legs... My first thought would be:
"Well, that clears up the Welterweight and P4P picture a bit."
I hate mayweather skilled or not(which, of course he is)...

Harsh man, Harsh....... He atleast gives boxing a bad guy to wanna see beat up. No good superhero story is good enough without the villain. He'll come a cropper for sure, and you might only have to wait till saturday night to see it. I can't wait to see the look on Floyds face when he's looking up from the seat of his pants wondering what the f**k just happened. Ha ha, backs to the wall time....
