possible but what happens to donaire's rating if he defeats/ko darchinyan again?

Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
Nice to see Martinez up there. Believe he should be higher then Mosley in current rankings.

Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
So does that mean Mayweather just fought the number 2 p4p fighter in the world and the number 3 p4p fighter in the world in his last 2 fights?
-
Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
I disagree, Floyd is number 1 after Saturdays performance. How do you keep someone like that off the top after Saturday?
I think GoldenBoy have kept him off the top to piss him off and possibly use another small angle to goad him into fighting Pac.

ring mag's ranking committee still considers pacquiao as p4p #1.

yes and floyd will be fighting the p4p #1 if he fights pacquiao next.

Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
Good to see The Ring agree with me. Until Floyd fights and beats Pacquiao, he's staying number 2 in my eyes.

Agree with Althugz here. Did Pacquiao beat the #1 guy to become p4p #1? Mayweather beat two top ten guys in his last two fight althought one of them was a lightweight.
Althugz, maybe the logic was that to be dethroned as #1, you either lose or you retire; oitherwise, you retain the ranking?

if thats not how it works then pbf will hold the #1 slot till he dies? he retired undefeated.

Pacquaio never beat Floyd when he was p4p number 1 either to claim the spot in the first place.
Rantcatrat, who knows what the logic is when judging p4p rankings lol - Everyone has their own way of measuring p4p. Most peoples Top 10 beneath the first 2 are night and day apart ;D

Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
IMO Floyd is #1 p4p
Pacquiao is #2
-
Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
exactly my point, how can pac beat the #1 if he retired? pbf retired so pac bumped up one place up. now pbf vacated that spot so he is technically is not a boxer anymore.
now that he has come back he needs to beat the present #1 to regain his spot.
unless pac decides to quit boxing or dies.

I disagree,
What if they were in separate weight classes i.e. the two best boxers in the world, one was in heavy weight and one was in fly weight? They wouldn’t be able to fight each to decided whos p4p best. That’s why its called p4p and not 147 pound or whatever weight and that’s why there is not p4p belt to be won. its just an assessment of boxing skill, ability and performance. So technically If a person was p4p best when he left and still shows he is the most skilled and able boxer then they can take it right back unless of course you feel that someone else has improved to a level higher then that….So it’s kind of a iffy thing this p4p title but I personally feel floyd takes that spot back after his 2 return performances.
BTW a lot of people have welcomed me to this forum. Thank you, I find this forum very refreshing.
I found this place during the whole Mayweather/Pacquiao debacle. A few of the forums I tried were just ridiculous with nonsense rantings, but Saddo boxing had some level headed people speaking sensibly. So here I am. Thanks All.

Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
these are weight class rankings, rarely until now to fighters on a p4p list ever face each other, hell that means that Calderon should have never been on the list cause he wouldn't of stood a chance with anyone that was listed on it at the time
you're falling into this whole concept that there is an actual p4p title which is ludicrous, p4p rankings are based on opinion, and well it's clear that most think Mayweather is the more skilled fighter of the two, meaning he doesn't even have to fight Pacquiao to be ranked p4p #1
-
Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
Until they fight each other, they can't be split imo. They should share number 1

Donaire is rated WAY TOO high for having beaten only one big name. I think the whole forum is puzzled at why he's ranked there. But another fight with Darchiniyan, I think the winner will stay the same, but won't end as early.

Floyd retired. You can't hold the top spot when you're no longer active. Pac won the spot by default. Floyd came back and you can't automatically get your spot back. That's like the head coach of a team retiring, the team hires a new coach, then the former coach wants his job back a while later.
Floyd did beat Marquez and Mosley coming out of retirement but since then, Pacquiao beat Hatton, Cotto, and Clottey. I think the two fighters are going tit-for-tat so they will remain in the same rankings until they actually fight in my book.

I agree completely. I said before the Mosley fight that it didn't matter how dominant Mayweather was, Pacquiao has had the better run since Floyd retired and he absolutely deserves to remain in the #1 spot. Now, if Mayweather were to beat Martinez in his next fight, provided he doesn't fight Pacquiao, I might feel differently.

You're quite right. There's plenty of nonsense here but lots of expertise and real knowledge to temper and balance it. I find it a pleasure, and learn a lot, when I read the forums here at Saddo.
You came to the right place, and welcome to you.

But Pacquiao and Mayweather are not in separate weight classes and they are able to fight each other.
If Manny's opponents were horrible (like Donaire's opponents after Darchinyan), then I agree that Floyd can get back the P4P#1 position without fighting Manny. But given that both of them have an excellent resume in their last few fights (or overrated opponents depending on how you look at it), then in order to be THE MAN you have to beat THE MAN.
Since there is really a question as to who is the better of the two, it's up to the #2 to prove that he is better than #1 by going through him.

i used to disrespect pongsaklek before since he's always fighting bums in his home country in thailand but since his loss to daisuke naito, i started to respect some of his recent work. solid fights against naito (twice), miranda and lastly against koki kameda.

Hatton and Cotto were top 10 p4p at the time he was about to fight them.
And Marquez was a top 5 p4p when they fought.

Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
I hate all this PFP stuff. It's completely subjective and will always lead to disagreement unless two fighters happen to be in their prime and are in the same division and are willing to face each other.
I don't think it matters so much who is number 1 right now, I just want the fight.
-
Re: pacquiao is still p4p #1
Pongwalek or whatever his name is , is not top 20 p4p !

Agreed. When #1 and #2 are close enough in weight where they can fight it's meaningless. It's like the BCS Championship game. It makes no difference who goes in as #1 as it's evident all questions will be answered after they meet.

1 name... Sulaiman.
Pongsaklek is highly popular and brings in cash in his native land.
Which in turn pays fees to the WBC. He can defend his title 10 fucken times a year fighting guys who are 16-4-2 and make cash.
For many years PongsaShit and Arce shared a title. Arce said and challenged him formely plenty of times but the fight never took place. Arce would have wizzyzzyzzyziped his ass back then.
I detest PongsaShit. He's garbage...

PongsaShit aint no lineal nothing...
Arce was the interim holder for a couple of years and that was never clarified between them.
Sulaiman cashed in on both Arce in Mexico and PongsaShit in Thailand.
Just look at the difference between the challengers they both faced.
While Arce faced guys that were 28-2, 30-2, 37-2, 28-3 etc. etc.
PongsaShit faced guys that were 13-1, 10-1, 14-6 etc. etc.
There was no lineage there during that time because of Arce so it was lost.
Naito beat him twice IMO... Close fight the 2nd one but I thought he won.
Beating Miranda and Kameda is what he should have been doing all these years.
Sorry but nothing in this world would make PongsaShit a top 10 p4p. NOTHING...

yuri arbachakov
chatchai sasakul
manny pacquiao
singsurat
tunacao
pongsaklek
naito
