That's quite sad. Hatton is obviously plastered and unable to speak there.
I think it's safe to say that the comeback is officially off. He's let himself go and quite horribly. I just hope he doesn't turn into another George Best.
Well it is his life but when you are plastered that bad before the fight and quite early in the night it is quite sad imo, we seem to go over this ground a lot but I think he is a piss head and I don't think there are many days he goes without a drink.Quote:

I don't get drunk before big fights because they usually start at lunch time. But even then, I have an unspoken rule which means I never drink before 9pm. No one wants to look drunk and silly too early in the night. If you are live at a fight and have got good seats, surely you want to actually watch the fight? I know I would.Quote:

Yes i do, not because i feel like i have to drink more that i enjoy it and it makes me feel good
Someone who drinks beer everynight and likes to get a tad tipsy is a heavy drinker. Someone that wakes up at 9am and feels the need to down a shot of whisky is an alcoholic

I don't drink as much as I used to, but even in my hard drinking era, that was the rule. Don't get me wrong, I like a drink and I'm enjoying a quiet one now, but I'm not sat at the keyboard like a muted walrus. Hatton seems to have gone overboard. Or at least gone a bit weird that night. Either way, these stories seem all too regular for my liking. As a Hatton fan, I would like him to look after himself. Or at least not get so drunk in front of a camera.Quote:

When i used to work nights i often found myself having a few beers with the lads before a shift
Not quite rickys level you understand, but its nice to have a guiness before a 10hour shift

I'm a Scottish born Australian with British mates - as a result I've done massive amounts of binge drinking over the years. I reckon people shouldn't judge. I've been falling down drunk before, and I'm sure it'll happen again to me in the future. If people want to drink and take drugs I'm fine with that, as long as it doesn't lead to violence or theft - do what you want to do.
Drugs/alcohol are only a problem for me if they start to fuck up your life - like you're stealing, or can't hold down your job or whatever.
I think what Ricky needs is a commentating gigs on these fights - he's a fantastic speaker and has a good sense of humour. I think he'd make a far better announcer than the ex-fighters they've got doing it now. Retirement (if that's what it is) is a hell of a hard adjustment to make for anyone (labourer/writer/plasterer) - but for professional boxers, former world champion professional boxers, I think it must be very difficult. As daft as it sounds, he needs a hobby. My dad is 65 this year, and I worry about him retiring because he doesn't really have any hobbies to keep him busy other than gambling on the horses;D
I think Hatton is just filling the void at the moment, hopefully he can find announcing/promotional career/anything to fill the gap...
Hatton was at the Murray fight yesterday, there is no way he is comming back. He has put on a lot of weight and it has been too long.
