What kind of negotiations exactly were these?
Arum knows basically nothing on Floyd's side and never even talked to anyone from Golden or Al Hayman directly once... Apparently they went through Ross Greenburg, but this seemed like a really sketchy sequence of negotiations. He also won't disclose anything about what the contratual agreements were. At least we know that this fight can still be made, but that only exclusivity is officially over.
Arum also made a good point about the fact that Floyd might want to wait for the fate of Roger before going forward with his career. But I am really choked :(.

So basically Arum just said "I wont have contact with Mayweather whatsoever but ill put a clock on my website saying he has to make a fight with me till that time and the media will eat it up" and they did. What kinds of negotiations were they? None whatsoever.
So I can put a clock on my myspace page daring Pacquiao to fight me and if he doesn't respond by midnight next week that makes him a coward and a ducker of me based on Arums logic and what he just did

Yes basically Arum knows something still its disclosed to public. Well its every promoters dream to this fight, it could be the biggest draw money wise, could be fight of the decade or a first of first half of the century fight that's why he's pushing through. Everybody in boxing community, fans knows this and want this fight to make it happened.
The problem is Floyd know this... he's not blind or deaf for sure and its been a hot topic for a couple months, it almost done deal before but sadly just collapse...he could walk away with easy money and win easily with Pacquiao. Man really i dunno what he's doin right now just for fans sake. :D

Would Manny fight Mayweather right away if Roach retired? We don't know, and I am not saying that is the reason, but I honestly think Mayweather has Manny negotiationwise where he wants him. I think Floyd realizes that Manny's other options are pretty thin, and that Arum isn't willing to fight anyone else besides him who isn't sponsored by Toprank. Arum seems to want everything to be promoted inhouse exclusively.
I am not saying its not Mayweather's fault, I am just saying these hardly seemed like legit negotiations if both sides weren't even talking to eachother directly. Arum also sounded really vague about a lot of points, but I am also wondering if they will sign next week and this is all a publicity stunt to catch everyone's attention.

ummmm didn't Barrera then go on to beat Morales in the 3rd fight, win the WBC featherweight title, then unify the IBF title, get wins against Juarez (who pushed John to the limit), then have a close loss to Marquez?!? riiiiiiiight, Morales was passed after the Raheem fight, yet he still managed to beat David Diaz (although was robbed), so he wasn't completely shot either, who really can you say Pacquiao has avoided aside from Mosley? you can make a more convincing case that Marquez ran away from 135 to avoid to fight the stacked division while there are guys like Katsidis, Funeka, Soto, Guerrero, Murray, Peterson, Antillon, etc., yet do i think that? no

These negotiations were just disgraceful on both sides and it is more or less ego by both men almost as if who ever coincides to the others demands basically is admitting the other guy is the bigger draw and better fighter,,,,I mean really what else could it be but outright un needed ego?.....I think after all these months of nonsense it may hurt the fight and sport more then anything rather build up interest....People tire of these crazy drawn out negotiations and in todays economy are outright disgusted with the fact two me turn down the opp to make 30 mill each or more in the long run but refuse due to demands....People begin to say I guess you don't need my PPV buy if you have so much already 30 mil is not needed.......Reasions why MMA is blowing boxing away with PPV sales

Roach only trained Pacquiao for first two weeks when Roach was busy in pre Mayweather-De la Hoya fight. Roach almost didn't show up in the Pacquiao-Solis bout. But there was no such news, or even rumor that Pacquiao wouldn't go on without Roach in his corner. So to answer your question... IMHO... Yes, more likely Pac will fight without Roach. And you can get rid of your alt "milmascaras" now before both youse get banned.

I am not saying Pacquiao would retire if Roach retired, but would he take such a big fight with someone else in his corner right away? Would he feel confident enough in that trainer? Either than that I agree with everything you are saying, but at least this time around Mayweather and Pacquiao haven't been talking. Arum seems to be as much a problem as a solution to this whole thing. Pacquiao would likely do the Wladimir Klitschko thing and take a cut to face Floyd, but Arum would never allow that. I honestly believe Pacquiao besides the 14 day window would do anything to get Floyd in the ring, and I think Floyd unfortunately knows that, and as with all his negotiations he will exploit this fact, and make people hate him as much as possible to make this fight even bigger.
As for the people who said Pacquiao has ducked people, or Floyd has. There is no time in their career where either guy has legitimately ducked an opponent, they have both proved that they are willing to face anyone under the right circumstances, and Pacquiao has foughten more elite opposition than arguably anyone I can think of in modern boxing. The list of future hall of famers that have fallen to him only continues to grow.

I think it's ridiculous that all negotiations were conducted through Ross Greenburg. At least get Greenburg to sit them down in a room together and act as intermediary that way, but he shouldn't be passing messages. I could understand Pacquiao & Mayweather acting like that, they're both two ATG fighters with egos matching that, but Bob Arum & Al Haymon are a pair of businessmen who should be able to sit down in a room & make a deal regardless of their personal issues with one another.
I still think this fight happens, although I can understand both points of view. Manny is an elected official and wants to have an opponent sorted so that he can plan his schedule. Floyd wants to wait till the trial in August to see what the situation is with his uncle.

When you put mit ;like that in terms of who is in the corner I have to agree and I don't think it matters the fighter because really any fighter who is used to that one person in the corner gets used to them and at times even that person is the one who pushes the fighter even when the fighter themselves seem to want to give....Yes I would see a fight or two against lesser comp to adjust to a new trainer before going into a mega fight...IMO Oscar De La Hoya made those mistakes changing trainers so often and it cost him in some big fights......
I don't believe any of the two ever ducked a fighter I mean lets be real you don't get where these two me are by ducking anyone...They are not just titloe holders or ewven guys who have managed to run one division EG-Hatton....Where they have been able to keep advantages on thier side and pick and choose who they will face...These guys have come up through multiple divisions and become the sports elite best of the best...P4P #1 and #2 regardless of who people rate which one....I do think Floyd has taken the easier fights when available...EG- at 140 he choose to fight Gatti rather then Cotto...regardless of the fact he would have beaten Cotto as well but Gatti was the easier target and we all know Floyd could of had his choice of champions to face...Manny on the other hand I think would fight King Kong in a phone booth....This is not to say Floyd is not better or vice versa but Floyd more or less believes in the why risk a beating even if I win if I dont have to....
Both men are the best of this era for sure now it is all about who the fans choose....It is sad though for the sport on both sides of this including what the promoters have managed to do and make this a circus...This is why IMO there should be a commission that should step in and give a time frame to both sides and say
"Either come to terms by this date or no fight and you both lose out on the mega money".......That would light a fire under their asses for sure :o...
Though not practical it sure as hell would get rid of nonsense like this

As for the people who said Pacquiao has ducked people, or Floyd has. There is no time in their career where either guy has legitimately ducked an opponent, they have both proved that they are willing to face anyone under the right circumstances, and Pacquiao has foughten more elite opposition than arguably anyone I can think of in modern boxing. The list of future hall of famers that have fallen to him only continues to grow.
When you put mit ;like that in terms of who is in the corner I have to agree and I don't think it matters the fighter because really any fighter who is used to that one person in the corner gets used to them and at times even that person is the one who pushes the fighter even when the fighter themselves seem to want to give....Yes I would see a fight or two against lesser comp to adjust to a new trainer before going into a mega fight...IMO Oscar De La Hoya made those mistakes changing trainers so often and it cost him in some big fights......
I don't believe any of the two ever ducked a fighter I mean lets be real you don't get where these two me are by ducking anyone...They are not just titloe holders or ewven guys who have managed to run one division EG-Hatton....Where they have been able to keep advantages on thier side and pick and choose who they will face...These guys have come up through multiple divisions and become the sports elite best of the best...P4P #1 and #2 regardless of who people rate which one....I do think Floyd has taken the easier fights when available...EG- at 140 he choose to fight Gatti rather then Cotto...regardless of the fact he would have beaten Cotto as well but Gatti was the easier target and we all know Floyd could of had his choice of champions to face...Manny on the other hand I think would fight King Kong in a phone booth....This is not to say Floyd is not better or vice versa but Floyd more or less believes in the why risk a beating even if I win if I dont have to....
Both men are the best of this era for sure now it is all about who the fans choose....It is sad though for the sport on both sides of this including what the promoters have managed to do and make this a circus...This is why IMO there should be a commission that should step in and give a time frame to both sides and say
"Either come to terms by this date or no fight and you both lose out on the mega money".......That would light a fire under their asses for sure :o...
Though not practical it sure as hell would get rid of nonsense like this
I honestly don't think Arum or Cotto wanted to fight Floyd while he was at 140 after what Floyd did to Bruseles I think Cotto realized he wasn't ready for Floyd. I agree that Manny and Floyd have had the luxury of fighting almost everyone on their terms, but who hasn't who has been the bigger draw?

Actually it wasnt Arum who was doing the negotiations, it was the head of HBO Ross Greenburg who was the mediator, between Al Haymon for Mayweather and Arum for Pacquiao...both parties had agreed to 14 day drug testing and a 50/50 split, contract were made, Pacquiao signed his end of the paperwork and all that was left was Mayweathers signature for his side of the paperwork that he agreed upon...unfortunately Mayweather changed his mind. It wasnt about the drug testing or the purse split, Mayweather recently said at a charity event sposored by Alonzo Mourning that he didnt want to think of boxing this year and that retirement was on his mind again.

Would Manny fight Mayweather right away if Roach retired? We don't know, and I am not saying that is the reason, but I honestly think Mayweather has Manny negotiationwise where he wants him. I think Floyd realizes that Manny's other options are pretty thin, and that Arum isn't willing to fight anyone else besides him who isn't sponsored by Toprank. Arum seems to want everything to be promoted inhouse exclusively.
I am not saying its not Mayweather's fault, I am just saying these hardly seemed like legit negotiations if both sides weren't even talking to eachother directly. Arum also sounded really vague about a lot of points, but I am also wondering if they will sign next week and this is all a publicity stunt to catch everyone's attention.

I am not saying Pacquiao would retire if Roach retired, but would he take such a big fight with someone else in his corner right away? Would he feel confident enough in that trainer? Either than that I agree with everything you are saying, but at least this time around Mayweather and Pacquiao haven't been talking. Arum seems to be as much a problem as a solution to this whole thing. Pacquiao would likely do the Wladimir Klitschko thing and take a cut to face Floyd, but Arum would never allow that. I honestly believe Pacquiao besides the 14 day window would do anything to get Floyd in the ring, and I think Floyd unfortunately knows that, and as with all his negotiations he will exploit this fact, and make people hate him as much as possible to make this fight even bigger.

I think it was a 2 way street...Cotto was not ready for Floyd I agree he cant beat him now let alone then...But it was still the most dangerous fight available then at the weight
