All this talk about Mayweather maybe being a little past it?
I don't get how they can say Floyd could possibly past it, when he has absolutely dominated the two guys besides himself and Manny who were considered the next best fighter in the world. Not only did he beat these guys, but these were both among the top 3 fights of his career without a doubt. In what facility has there been any hint of a decline in Floyd's abilities inside the ring? He at the very least has managed to maintain his high level of dominance, and as his body adjusts more and more to being a welterweight I would say he is a better 147 pounder now then when he originally entered the division.

Watch him against Mosley again. Floyd's footwork is no longer what it used to be. That's the reason why he got tagged a couple of times. The more Floyd delay this fight, the less credit Pac will get. I guarantee, this Pac-May hype will get colder and colder. And Pac can't be the one to be blamed.

Yes maybe his footwork is not exactly what it once was but he is getting older...Nature takes its toll on the best...It is not as if he is slipping all around...We don't know if he is slipping at all because for all we know it may have been a last minute adjustment after being rocked he went with plan B......We need see him in another fight before judging.....Even so Floyd is the type of guy who if he knows speed or foot work is slipping he will revert to something else....
I did notice that his stamina while better then Mosleys was not what it was in the past.....I think that will be his biggest problem with Manny the fact he needs to keep up with the pace of Pacquiao and that is hard for anyone....

Shortly after the Mayweather/ Mosley fight, Manny Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, claimed that Floyd Mayweather's legs had gone. He's reasoning for this assumption went something along the lines of ''Floyd has become too flat footed''.
At first I though this was bullshit, as most people would, but then I was somehow recently reminded of something that Mayweather had said in another interview shortly after the same fight,, with regards to the shot that Mosley had him in trouble with.
Mayweather said something to the effect of ''I've been hit with harder shots, Corley's shot hurt me more than Molsey's''.
If that's the case, which it could well be, why the hell did Mayweather's legs give out on him?
Baring in mind, this was only the 2nd round (as opposed to the mid-late rounds like against Corely). Mayweather was fresh as a daisy.
So if Corley hurt him more, and he was fresher against Mosley... Why did his legs go?

Well that chop fight was at 140. Probably a weight more natural for floyd. Also I think Floyd has become a creature of habit. Standing in the pocket using the shoulder more now than ever before. When he was at the lighter weights he used the shoulder while moving with his feet, now he just stands right there to be hit because he clearly feels he will see the punches coming and catch them or roll with them. I also believe he was lying about Zab and Chop hitting him harder, not to mention shane landed two clean shots and the one when his legs gave out he clearly wasn't fully recovered from the first one.
I think when Roach says his leg are gone and he stands flat footed there's a lot of truth to that not because he can't move, he simply doesn't choose to and this makes him a creature of habit that if pacman uses a lot of leg movement Floyd could tire, but I think Floyd will just walk him down behind a high guard and utilize the shoulder roll on the inside. Roach is using gamesmenship to get floyd to come out of what he's been doing the past several years or to try to prove his legs arent gone by doing a lot of energy wasted movement.

I don't think FMJ has ever been hit that hard and that cleanly. Let's not forget that it's not just about how hard you hit the other guy, but where; the first punch rattled Floyd's cage, hitting him square on the left side of his jaw, and the second one caught him right behind/on the ear. These are both spots that every boxer will tell you they aim to hit whenever possible, because both are pressure points that represent short cuts to incapacitating one's opponent. When SSM hit FMJ clean on the ear with a hard right hand shot his brain was scrambled momentarily - that's why his legs went. Nothing to do with being old, just human. Could happen to anyone. Though I agree that FMJ has a tendency lately not to use his footwork so much - I don't think it's declined, really, though, I think it's just Floyd trying to be as efficient in winning as he possibly can. Also, FMJ hadn't fought anyone with Mosely's speed in quite a while, and I think he was genuinely caught off guard for once. You know, when you fight slower guys for a while you sometimes forget the rhythms required to properly tackle guys with better handspeed. As for Roach, as someone else already said - just appealing to Floyd's ego to try and make the fight happen sooner rather than later.

When did Floyd need footwork against Mosley? He a couple times against Mosley because the first one was a good one-two combination, and its Shane MOsley. People are acting like he was fighting some punk, By the end MOsley only landed 20% of his punches. Marquez only landed 12% of his clearly, and in neither fight was Mayweather consistently on the ropes like he was against Hatton and Oscar, or even Jesus Chavez or Jose Luis Castillo earlier in his career. I think Floyd has realized guys won't back you up if you stand your ground. Honestly did Floyd move a lot when he faced Zab Judah either? No he didn't, because he was being the aggressor. When Floyd did move in these two fights it was only to get out of immediate danger. Both Marquez(who could catch Pacquiao moving backwards), and Mosley(who caught Collazo moving backwards) couldn't catch him quick enough.
The footspeed thing is just a lame ploy by Freddie Roach to implant either doubt in Mayweather or to attempt to throw Floyd's team off what he really would want Manny to do against Mayweather. It's as ridiculous as saying Manny has lost footspeed because he didn't use as much footspeed against Cotto or Clottey as he did against RIcky Hatton, they are different fighters who require different strategies.
