Floyd's reflexes are ridiculously quick. He was probably a cat in a former life.
pac handspeed thats it
I think that they might be quite similar speed wise and personally, I would tend to think that if they fight, their speed is so alike that it won't be the determining factor in the bout.
Yeah Pac can put punches together in quick succession like Mayweather can now only dream of.
But That one punch speed is still right up there... That one's a close one.
The foot work is close too... I think Pac is maybe a little bit more explosive off his toes. But Mayweather appears to have the the best balance (or maybe he just seems more balletic due to his style??).
Speed ain't shit without reflexes though. Apart from Dirrell, ain't no one close to Money May.
Agree with the consensus. Pac has ridiculously fast hands and is unmatched to anyone I`ve ever seen in the sport. Much faster then Floyd.
But Mayweather has amazingly quick defensive instincts and countering ability that goes far beyond pac in that area.
If this fight never gets made, I will not only be disappointed, but some time when I`m much older and starting to get senile I`m going to go find and kick a billy goat.
Who do you think would win a 100m sprint? I think this is what it all boils down to imo.
Reflexes and truncal movement PBF. One punch per se PBF by a tad. Foot speed PAC.
with or without PEDS...
Well slap me around and call me Susan...
But I think PBF is faster at 1 punch and putting them together.
Foot work is Pac.
I belive RJJ was faster than PBF & Pac.
The only other fighter whom I feel was faster then RJJ was Meldrick Taylor.
Of course you then have SRL somewhere along there.
A chemically enhanced Pacquiao is faster than Floyd. He's Super Man than. A natural Pacquiao is not. He's becomes Bobby Pacquiao
pacquiao Oh yeah he's the fastest thing on the planet.
The boy makes the flash look slow
Pacquiao is actually an immortal.
The only reason why the BP oil spil stopped is because pac wanted it to.
pac is so fast the US government is trying to persuade him to run around the earth so fast that he'll be able to go back in time and stop 9/11 and other such disasters.
Pacquiao is a god. We should all fear his wrath and worship him.
At times I'd like to kneecap Floyd but as far as fluidity, speed for speeds sake I'd say Mayweather.Footwork as well.
Think big picture and complete package I'd say Manny. It may boil down to mentality and carrying a shot through it's target rather than moving off, resetting before full delivery if that makes sense.Manny asserts speed coming forward which explodes and sets down truer I believe...vicious little f'r.Floyd 'could' be a more potent puncher but that's not his mindset.....with fast feet it's assumed that means a slick boxer, mover & defensive but likwise one who shifts, stalks forward and sits downs fast....more often than not it's the punches landing receiving the attention rather than feet in that case.Roy was tops at both, shite Tapia had that ability too.I've gone off reservation :-X
I think guys like Berto, Gamboa, and Dirrell are all faster p4p than Pacquiao or Mayweather at this moment, but the reason these two are the most dynamic is simple.
Manny throws harder combinations faster than anyone else p4p, he can be moving his feet along with throwing combinations which is extremely rare to see, it reminds me of Roy JOnes, but even Roy through hooks in similar situations to where Manny is throwing straight punches which is more difficult.
Floyd is always in balance, and his one punch speed is as fast as anyone's. I just think he is more focused on accuracy and landing solidly than purily outspeed his opponents. Watch him against Marquez and Mosley, his hands are much faster against Mosley because he is a quicker opponent, and Floyd was backing him up. Against MArquez though he was just catching Marquez come in. I think Pacquiao also puts more on his punches which is why his punches would be thrown faster for hte most part, but again with the example of comparing PBF-Mosley to PBF-JMM, it is clear FLoyd was throwing harder against Mosley, and his punches were significantly faster because he was putting more force behind them. Also combinations build speed based on the momentum of the body, and Manny is an amazing combination puncher, whereas even when Floyd puts punches together each punch doesn't carry forward the same sort of momentum, and it almost seems as if Floyd thinks out each punch he throws even in combinations.
All in all I think Manny clearly throws punches in bunches faster than Floyd because, Floyd doesn't really throw punches in bunches, but their handspeed for individual shots is roughly equal.
I also don't believe Floyd's reflexes in terms of physical reflex is superior to Pac's who has shown the ability to counter his opponent impressively, but Floyd has better intuition in there, and because his whole style is geared towards timing moreso than Manny's so he has obviously fine tuned those skills to a greater extent. At the higher levels of boxing its more about experience and what you work on that dictates whether you get hit or not. It's very rare you get guys like Roy Jones jr, but even he had great intuition and you saw in his combinations and the fact he would know where an opponent would be open by the time his punch got there.
I would say Floyd is faster Pac has fast hands but he throws a lot of flurries his single shots arent as quick as Floyds his footwork and speed of foot isn't as quick or as good as Floyds and his reflexes and defence are nothing compared to Floyds.
For combos I think Pac is faster. For single shots, I think Floyd is faster (due in large part to his superior reflexes).
Its very hard to say thought. You're comparing two seperate bolts of lightning.
Juan Manuel Marquez: Manny Pacquiao Hits Harder Than Floyd Mayweather -- Boxing FanHouse
Marquez says Floyd is faster and has impeccable defense but Pacquiao has the heavier punch.
I'd say they're evenly fast. But Floyd throws 37 punches in tapping motion. Manny throws 96 with energy. That's like Uzi vs electric gatling gun.

r u kidding?
volume does not equal speed--look at Margarito and Ouma.
I will grant that if you are talking about hand speed only, Pac is fast (even faster now that he is bigger..???), but there is nothing he does faster than Floyd.
If he was so fast, then how did he lose so many rounds to JMMarquez?
What we are seeing is that Pac uses his speed with aggression, while Floyd uses hand speed, with reflex, and amazing timing. Floyd is able to be so precise because of his superior speed.
I don't think its fair to compare Floyd's performance against JMM against Manny's because Hatton and Oscar looked way more lost against Manny's speed than against Floyd's. I think styles among other things are what separated who these two have been dominant against. I don't believe Manny would have been as dominant against Shane Mosley, but maybe moreso against Berto. I think guys that are there to be hit and can be hurt Manny will look better than Floyd, but guys who are tough and slick will have a hard time agaisnt Floyd because he's better at what they do.
I never compared performances. I said Pac's performance against a slower but accurate JMM should demonstrate that his speed alone is not as fast as some would think, and definitely not one of his best qualities. I would say Pac's timing (now used w/ counterpunching) and aggression are far more effective for him in his fights. My assessment is different in the sense that Shane is just inactive enough to lose to Pac, but Berto has the speed advantage. imo Berto's biggest problem against Pac is that he will probably wait for counter opportunities and get outworked. If he comes to box and punish Pac w/ the jab, you would be surprised how easy of a night it would be for Berto.
