David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Forget what would happen if they fought now ........ whay would happen if a prime Evander fought David Haye?
Both were excellent amateurs, both were very successful Cruiserweights indeed and both have gone on to make a big impact in the heavyweight ranks. I appreciate that we have not seen Haye's full prime yet - but what do you think would have happened??
Discuss :)

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Haye would be a tune up fight for a prime Holyfield!!!
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
yeah id lean towards hollyfield too
haye has a lot of power tho and is very fast
he'd have more than a good chance
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Haye would get slaughtered
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Haye would get head butted to death.
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Holyfield every day of the week and twice on sunday. Haye would eventually sucumb and wilt in the middle rounds I think, I don't think he'd be able to hurt holyfield, nor would he be able to elude him all fight so that leaves one outcome in my mind.
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Holyfield would soak the pressure and make a very long night for Haye.....Holyfield late round KO
Job Biscuit (Haye really needs a good test)!!!
eh eh!!!
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
At both Cruiser and Heavyweight's.Holyfield would destroy Haye.
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Holyfield was just as fast or faster in his prime and had just as explosive power at Cruiserweight, he had a higher work rate and incredible stamina, factor in that he had overall better boxing ability and technique, he'd pummel Haye in 7 and do it easily

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
In a contest between the two just talking about fighting haye in any condition beats evander hands down. In actual fighting i'd say holyfield would beat the crap out of haye. Holyfield actually fights....and top guys when he was in his prime. We all have to beg haye to fight anyone decent and holyfield we have to beg to stop. I wouldn't even put the two in the same class. The only reason haye is even remotely considered is due to the lack of anyone else worth a crap in the whole division. Go back to prime days of evander and we would laugh to even see haye's name in the top 10

David Haye v Evander Holyfield
I would pay to watch that fight.

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield

True !

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Dwight Mohammed Quawi (Evander fought twice, I think) would beat Haye. In retrospect to Holyfield's career you would have a hard time making an argument that Haye could hold a candle in Holyfield's furnace. But, you know guys fight differently at different weights, so it could have been a very competitive fight for all we know.

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
it would be good to see how Haye would hold up fighting somebody of Holyfield class you never know he may last the distance. (OR NOT)
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Holyfield at cruiser would stop Haye late rounds but it would be a good fight.
Holyfield was inconsistent at heavyweight after the Bowe defeat, prior to that as a poster mentioned Haye would only be a warm up for Holyfield. Holyfield beat Dokes, Thomas, Alex Stewart all equally as good then as Haye is now.
The Holyfield that fought Bowe 3 or Moorer 1 could possibly lose but if he landed the knockdown punches in that fight he may have ko’ed Haye who I believe has no chin at heavyweight.

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Holyfeild would crush Haye can't believe were even saying there name in the same sentence. Holyfeild is the greatest CW of all time and top ten greatest heavy of all time. To be honest Haye ain't shit really compared to Holyfeild i don't really see how he could win en less Holyfeild had a hart attack.

Holyfield was rock hard.

Holyfield would batter him like a ginger step kid.
KO in round 6 or 7.

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Well, I didn't put my own view in at the beginning so that I could see what others thought first.
Pretty unanimous thread.
I have to say that I agree. Holyfield is at ATG at both cruiser and heavy. he fought everybody who was around, without exception ..... Qawi, Dokes, Bowe, Tyson, Lewis, Ruddock, Toney etc etc etc. Evander truly was the 'Real Deal' ..... rock solid chin, fantastic training and fitness (maybe illegal though;D), amazing stamina, good technique, iron will.
Holyfield had everything. I wouldnt have thought he's have been fazed by Haye's power, as he faced down iron Mike and others who are much bigger hitters that Haye. I think david needs room to throw his bombs, as never seems to be an inside fighter ..... Holyfield would swarm all over him, keep close andin range and drag poor david into the trenches in a way that his thus far limited opposition has never been able to do. Holyfield stoppage is most likely in the middle rounds ...... I'm afraid I cant see any way, in any eventuality that haye would be able to win. No dissrespect to haye here, this probably reflects the high esteem i hold Evander in as a fighter.

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
now thers a fight i`d like to see, i`m a big fan of david haye, but i feel like he really hasn`t been tested yet. if he could beat evander he would get a bit more recgonition in the boxing world.
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
holyfield would have been arrested and charged with child abuse!

ummm no he wouldn't, Holyfield is shot to bits now, he wont get any credit unless he beats a Klitschko and rightfully so, there's no one that the Klitschko's haven't already beaten, so there is no one of note out there that matters for Haye to fight other than Vitali and/or Wlad

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Haye could take him now. :)

I don't feel Haye has really peaked, and may have his best years ahead of him (if he can live up to his own hype with the Klit fights - doubtful), and assuming all of the retirement talk is bollocks, but if he fought Evander now he'd just lose even more respect.
Evander is a legend, but this fight wouldn't be a fair competition. Evander is 48 and Haye is 30. Less of a joke than the Audley fight still, and complete respect to Evander, as I'm sure he'd take the fight even now ;D, but it has to be the Klit fights next for Haye.
Prime Holyfield schools Haye.

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
evander would win......in his prime holyfield brought a firestorm to fights, he was quick himself, huge stamina he would fight the whole 3 mins of a round.......haye has always had stamina prob and a glass jaw......holyfield would have him out of there within 3-5 rounds.........lets not forget haye has fought stiffs at heavyweight.....a prime holyfield would be to much for him
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Dwight Muhammad Qawi was a beast and one of the top Light Heavyweight-Cruiserweights, of all time. He basically ended Matthew Saad Muhammad's career as a top fighter. And Evander Holyfield went 15 rounds with basically a Cruiserweight version of Joe Frazier.
Dwight Muhammad Qawi might of been better as a Light Heavyweight, but he was still a beast as a Cruiserweight. And if Evander Holyfield can beat a fighter of that level twice, then David Haye stands no chance.
Evander Holyfield isn't called the best Cruiserweight fighter of all time for nothing, he truly was special at Cruiserweight. And would of probably broke the record for the most successful title defences of all time.
David Haye's stamina isn't that great nor is his chin. Evander Holyfield would drag him into deep waters a drown him round about the 7th round.

Haye's power would be seemed as a tickle considering in one of the rounds fighting Foreman he got hit flush, and just shook it off.
Prime Holyfield within 3 either at CW or HW.

Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
I wouldn't like to state how one sided it would be as Haye has already proven how tasteless such comments can be... Nevertheless Evander would get the victory and as previous posters have said have an easy nights work getting it!
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Holyfield via decapitation.
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
It depends, if Haye could box for the entire fight and not try to knock Holyfield out he has a chance, however Holyfield would always get to him and had a deadly left hook, Holyfield would take Haye's shots and probably wear him down late, if not stop him.
But, if we wanna talk about a Cruiserweight toss up fight. Michael Moorer vs David Haye would have been a barn burner! For as long as it lasted.

no way in hell Haye would beat Holyfield at HW, much less at Cruiserweight, he's not considered the greatest fighter in the division for no reason

Moorer at Lt hvy was just a savage. Too bad he jumped division...could have cleaned up Cruiser at time but had yet to be really tested. Think his handspeed and thud goes even with Cruiser Haye.....chin too :-X
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
holyfield is the greatest crusierweight of all time and one of the greatest heavyeights of all time.......he's seen as one of the best conditioned fighters ever in his prime with great chin and courage......evander also had very good boxing skills.......haye would be toast in either weight class vs the REAL DEAL
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Evander in his prime was a totally different animal to ANYONE in the HW division now. He would be way too much for David despite the fact Haye for me has the advantage in speed and power. Evander with his iron chin could take a lot and walk Haye down and for me either finish Haye in the mid rounds or make Haye reluctant to exchange and ultimately win a lopsided decision.
-
Re: David Haye v Evander Holyfield
Haye is like Herbe Hide. Todays version of Holyfield would find a way to win.
