Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
I can think of nothing greater than for Mosley to shock the entire world by knocking out Manny Pacquiao. What better way could there be to knock Osama Bin Laden off of the front pages? It would be epic.
I have always loved Shane Mosley. He comes across as one of the warmest guys in boxing and has given us so many great performances over the years, but what better way to cap it all than by knocking out Manny Pacquaio? The prospect is bewildering. It's like coming face to face with aliens or meeting Jesus at the bus stop. To stop Manny Pac at this stage would surely dwarf those things.
You have to respect Manny Pac, but there is only one person that I want to see win this weekend. Can it happen? I don't know, the odds makers say no. But stranger things have happened.
War Mosley!!!!!!!!!
So who else is in the underdogs corner wishing for highly improbable things?
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
not bothered
and i doubt it will make it to the back page no matter who wins
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
It sure would be a nice upset but I think as well that it might blow any chances to maybe, just maybe, see PAcquiao-Mayweather someday.

True, but waiting for Pacquiao/Mayweather is like waiting for godot.

Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
I do... I like Pac but I like Mosely more... and pactards piss me off.
But what sport do you follow miles? like Eriks said... it'd do well to get the back page... let alone the front.
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
It wouldn't break my heart to see Mosley win, but it's not realistic to think he will, what i'm really hoping for is a fairly competitive fight, and not the one-sided beat-down from Pacquiao we're likely to see.

Just curious, what qualifies someone as a "Pactard"?
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
A rampant pac fan who lets their love of manny Pacquio over load literally any logical thought from entering their mind that can be made against him. ???
Not even 'against him'... it could be that boxer X from this time peroid does a certain thing better than pac does or what ever... doesn't matter - healthy debate and discussion will NOT be had.
it also helps if they know little to nothing about boxing outside of pac... your best bet is just to check youtube and read the comments on boxing videos... you'll notice the complete lack of logical thinking, ability to debate things (always a flame war) and what usually just turns into racial slurring matches.
Have you honestly not encountered one before?... or is this some attempt at being devil's advocote/catching me out or something? ???

It's not the first time i've heard the term "pactard", I was just curious what your definition was Adam, and wasn't trying to get slick on you. ;)
I'm a Pacquiao fan, but there's dozen's of other pugs I like just as much, I loath pactards and others who seem to know little about boxing, lose all objectivity, and only focus on and/or idolize one particular fighter.
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
yeah, it's not exclusive to Pac by any means, the term 'pactard' seems to have stuck though. :)

I stay out of debates/discussions with fans who seem obsessed with only one fighter, it's a waste of time trying to reason with them, and pointless to argue with their infantile asses.
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
its a who cares kind of fight...Mosley is over the hill and Pac keeps fighting over the hill opponents....its not a true fight so Im not fussed...If Pac lost then it would be a minor upset.....nothing to right home about...if Pac wins everyone will say I told u so
Job Biscuit (looking forward to Prize fighter)!!!
eh eh!!

I made a couple of attempts at humour in my OP and that was one of them. I'm not known for my snazzy one liners, so I guess it goes over a lot heads. :p
I watched the Pac/Cotto and Pac/Margarito fights again today and it is impressive the way Pac is able to bust up faces. He is so fast and fluid that his punches don't even seem to be that hard, but obviously they are. He destroyed Hatton and is breaking orbital bones. A really weird fighter with all those angles and his footwork is something else. There are always several things happening at one time, he is great.
A Mosley 3rd round KO would likely get it up to page 42 and that is what I am quietly hoping for. My hopes are often dashed though. I would settle for a Mosley 6th round KO.

Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
I am glad to see that the Floyd is a big gay option is dominating proceedings. We are obviously a very progressive crew.
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
It'd be funny if mosley won.....
but he won't.

While enjoying the enthusiasm of PAC fans, what utterly annoys me is how they will insert Pac into a thread that has nothing to do with Pac at all.
I swear, start a thread on Bobby Chacon or best Welters of the 70s or Chris Byrd and they will find a way to bring him into it. Quite a feat really.
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
I don't but in a way it could put an end to the Pac v PBF tease that we are all enduring.
Moseley has two rounds to do it and for those 6 minutes it will hopefully be compelling viewing. After that......
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
Some places has Mosley at +600. I'll put a $100 on Mosley for fun, so I'm hoping Mosley wins.:D

I just saw Mosley is 10/1 to win by KO. I'll have fun bet on that, so i'll be cheering for him too.
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
I hope he wins, it would be great to see the old dog who's been completely written off produce the performance of a life time and get the win. I really can't see it happening, but I'll certainly be hoping it does

I'd like to see Mosley win, but it would only make Floyd look good. And we all know Mayweather would be runnin his mouth about how he dominated Shane, and yet Pacquaio got KO'd by him, so there would be no point hin Floyd fighting Pacqauio.
Most likely Mosley is going to lose every round, but he is a great fighter, and still has a big punch so he could catch Pacqauio between his punches and KO the little shit.
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
If Mosley was to win this is how i'd like to see it happen....an evenly fought contest, toe to toe where the advantage constantly shifts from fighter to fighter, both landing bombs and neither man prepared to give ground and Mosley breaks pacs heart and overwhelms him for a late round stoppage. That would be exciting! ;D
If it was a early blowout for Mosley that'd be good and i could see a lot of people being happy with that but for me that would leave a lot of questions unanswered with regards to Mosley still being able to remain competitive for the duration of the fight. I think If Mosley is going to win it will be rounds 1-4 then i think pac will take over and dominate.
In all fairness i'm a big fan of both and would be happy just to see a competitive fight.

Out of interest what makes you think that and how do you think he could accomplish it?
For me personally i dont think he could win a long hard fight maybe he could land the 1 knockout shot in the first few rounds but I'm sure Manny and Roach are prepared for that.

I just feel like manny hasn't got hit that hard, the last thing to go is power, and mosely has plenty left, he gets paralyzed by great boxers, but he always does great against guys that like to bang, i have a feeling that he is capable of landing that shot that changes boxing history, and your right, he cant outpoint manny, them machine gun fist wont stop for nobody, so i am curious to see how mosely handles that aswel,l but when people are on the attack mosley has always been great at coming back, i don't feel the mora or mayawether fight has shown us what mosely has left, i think he has it in him for one more good performance, win or lose...but i choose win, i might regret this in hind sight, but its how i feel now. I think mosely power might slow manny down aswell

I get what you're saying with the 'manny hasn't got hit that hard' way of thinking i agree really i think it's because he's constantly on the move and no one has managed to connect with that 1 shot thats needed. Maybe Mosely is the man to do it if he can land on Mayweather then it's possible he can do the same again this fight. Either way it goes Mosley will turn up and give his all and i cant wait!

Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
Been a fan of Mosley for his whole career, so go figure on what I voted in poll.

Yup, i've seen them do the same thing with Mayweather, and you ask them WTF does this thread have to do with Mayweather?

Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
I want Mosley to win because I like him more than Pac. I dont dislike Pac really, just I have always been a fan of Mosley.
-
Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
it would suck for boxing if Mosley won. Also a huge blow to Pacquio's legacy

Why would it suck for boxing?
Shane Mosley is a legend approaching the end of his career. It would be a fairytale story if he could pull off the upset. He is such a big underdog, hasn't won in years and is older than the moon.
It would be great for boxing and the American public. What better story could there be than for Shane Mosley to stop Manny Pacquiao? It is a perfect narrative.
Nobody could begrudge Shane Mosley the win and I am glad to see that he is the sentimental favourite going into this fight. Most of us like the guy and are willing him on.
Go on Shane, give the little man the fight of his life!

Re: Who wants Mosley to win this weekend?
You know on boxing topics, I tend to agree with you Miles. This would be a boost for boxing, maybe not for the Filipino faithful but Pac wouldnt be forced to retire from it. If anything it might lure Floyd's gay ass to actually fight him. I got nothing against Pac and if he wins I'm not gonna one of the guys saying "Oh this was a gimme fight" this is world title professional level, there are no "gimmes".

I should post more about boxing really, I get distracted with the other stuff.
I can understand the view that Pac is younger and there are big money fights for him. There isn't really any clamour for Mayweather/Mosley 2 as that was so one sided, but at the same time a Mosley win would be such a great story. Two duff fights and then stopping the P4P best fighter at nearly 40? It doesn't get any more epic than that.
It's like trying to pull stars from the sky with an outstretched arm. Highly improbable, but if it happens things will never be the same again.

Mosley winning would be a big step back for boxing. In that case we would never see Mayweather vs Manny, or would we?

If Shane beats Pac Man then he does not deserve to fight Floyd.

Why the hell not? its a fight ill always want to see, the only way manny loses is by knockout, doesn't mean he sucks, just means shane was that guy for him. I still say floyd wins, but i actually believe it would be a hell of a fight.

Yes but it will lose the value of who is the best p4p fighter on the planet.

More than that I fear it will provide a valid excuse to Floyd for not fighting Manny. That's the worst scenario really. He will retire with 0 defeats, leaving a big question mark.
