Was the Pacquiao-Mosley’s bout fixed?

A city official smarted by telling me that he conditioned himself to watch a bloody Pacquiao-Mosley tiff because I told all and sundry at TV stations GMA-7 and ABS-CBN that the fight of Filipino Superman would be his toughest compared to his gory outings with Eric Morales (1), and competitive tussle with Juan Manual Marquez.
Although I did tell through the boob tubes the public that the younger Manny Pacquiao wins, the tussle was an outright flopped.
My fight with my sister when we were tot was more violent.
I told the official that his frustration was synonymous with those spectators who bought tickets at MGM. They were guys who paid for their hotel accommodations, and who chalked-up a hair raising airplane trips from places as far as the Philippines.
Everybody thought before that the pugilistic encounter would see bloods splattering everywhere from the two warriors, thus bleachers at MGM overflowed that tickets have been sold-out weeks before the fight.
I saw the tiff in two different ways:
First, Manny’s left was too powerful for Shane to absorbed thus Shane’s became a one-left arm pug as he stuck his right glove all night long to his right chin to repel any nuclear-backlash from Pacquiao’s left hook or straight.
Second, has somebody written at some news sites about a word “fixed” or “swindled”?
If Antonio Margarito’s face particularly absorbed all the things including the bleachers and the ring posts Manny thrown to him before, why Shane could not absorbed all the punches of Manny when he could absorbed all the punches of Margarito and hard hitting Miguel Cotto when he(Cotto) was undefeated during their encounters?
Holly Molly, even those syndicates selling pirated DVDs worth P40.00 (0.83 U.S cents) at the sidewalks of Dagupan City would not bite selling this fight to the public.
“Masyadong buuuring ang laban ni Pakyaw, mukhang nabayaran si Muuusley na tumakbo buong gaaabe (That fight was a bore. It seems Mosley has been paid to run all night),” emphatically told to me by my Tagalog halting speaking Muslim-vendor pal.
Was there a backdoor negotiation that Mosley was asked to run while Manny chases him for a knock-out?
Maan, we could only speculate.
Anyway, the Pinoy Superman, Batman, Captain Barbell, Bruce Lee, Justin Bieber all combined wins by more than $20 million inclusive of Pay-Per –View.
And, yes, my dear Shane “Shame” Mosley wins too, by $6 million inclusive of the PPV.
Former world champions Kelly Pavlic and Jorge Arce , who were part of the under cards, could only cried their hearts-out. They were paid a minuscule $ 120 thousand, $250 thousand, respectively, while Bob father Arum earns more than what Manny had.
The losers, son of a gun, were those people I mentioned who went to Vegas, and those who paid an arm for the $55 PPV for a fight dubbed as one of the “greatest swindle (?)” in modern boxing history.

With that much money going into it, i wouldn't even be surprised. Its safer just to assume they are. Sucks for the sport though. Greedy sonsofbtiches..

To fix a fight implies that either fighter, the ref or one or more judges actually received a cash incentive to manipulate the outcome. This was just a stinker, and Mosley didn't come to win. Whether he had talked to Manny beforehand( apparently they are friendly ) or not isn't really signifigant, all you need to do is watch how often Mosley wanted to touch gloves with him, that's what really pissed me off. Maybe he never intended on winning, maybe he just couldn't pull the trigger and was hurt by the KD, but you can't call it a fix when the outcome most people expected came to be. I do wonder if Mosley could have made a better fight of it, but doubt this is the case really. At the end of the day you can blame Pacquiao just as much for agreeing to touch gloves all day and never really going in for the kill. I can only imagine how easy it is for a fighter to convince himself he still has a great fight in him only to get in the ring and realize he's not going to win, you can't exactly throw flak at Mosley for a couple of bad fights to end the career he has had.

It was too friendly and very much a 'luv in', but I don't believe it was fixed. Mosley was simply too nice and Pac obliged the guy. Like p4pking say, you can't be too angry with Mosley really. He went 12 rounds at practically 40 with the best in the world and wanted to keep on his good side. It was a poor fight, but most likely not fixed.

The fans deserved better, but anyone who knows the sport kows that it wasn't a great matchup. You get what you pay for, the people who paid should have known better.

I agree with all this i just think, Manny Pacquiao let him survive out of respect. I mean Roy Jones Jr did it with Mike McCallum its not the first time its happened.

Oh Miles you greatly disappoint me. I thought for sure you would say this fight was fixed and that a congressional hearing should have taken place to investigate Manny, Shane, and Arum for defrauding the public.;D

This fight was not fixed, Shane just simply doesn't have it anymore. Besides Toto weren't you saying last week that this would be Pac's toughest fight so far??? there's no way it could be fixed, this was his toughest fight;D

Yeah but Mike McCallum came to win and tried to pressure Jones. Shane and Manny just touched gloves. Had to be getting to Shane the crowd was cheering for Manny to "knock him out" it was just...bad.. not the way Shane's career should end. And it seems everyone is kicking him when he is down. Shane Mosley's best friend Oscar De La Hoya wrote this on twitter

I watched the PBF fight the other day, anyone remember Mosley and Floyd dissing manny for the lack of drug testing?

Didn't see Mosley demanding special tests for the fight!

If the fight was fixed.. it was fixed by Roach when he picked Mosely. Manny is a good fighter, but roach is a mastermind. He knows who his guy can beat handily. He chooses guys that are slow on the trigger or live in a shell because he know his guy can get in .. do the work and get out without taking much damage. Its part of the game, not a fix... Shane made weight, he was able to fight, he was probably ranked..and had no problem taking the money, he was fair game.
All the touching gloves etc is what he does when he knows he's been bested and doesn't want to take too bad of a beating. See him shake hands with margarito, vargas, mayorga? Yeah me either, but he thumped on those guys pretty hard, didn't he? Its kind of sad to see a fighter reduced to that. You took the money, now take the beating or take the glory... Just my opinion.

Fixed? Mosley is 40 in a few months, his record in recent years is 8-7-1 with 1 NC, his glory days were well and truly past him. The best thing Mosley could have done was stay down after the knockdown, you could see it in his eyes when he was getting up, "what am i doing here?" The big loser in all of this is boxing and boxing fans who should be looking forward to Pac V Floyd 2 by now, yet we haven't even had a first fight! Let Shane Mosley retire with some dignity please.

Shane one of my favorite fighters and has given a lot i mean at 40 its hard to keep fighting. When you look at Mosley last fights i don't know what everybody was expecting. I just hope Mosley can retire not end up like my favorite fighter Evander Holyfield that would be a sad day man.
