I can't believe this will happen unless they offer Maidana silly sums. McCloskey did nowhere near enough in the Khan fight to earn a shot against Maidana. I take it Audley's performance against Haye will get him a shot at Vitali now :rolleyes:

I can see McCloskey fiddling his way to a PTS win at home. He's smart enough to dodge Maidana's crude stuff and only needs a few good taps here and there to have the crowd roaring him home.

This fight shouldn't and won't happen. McCloskey has been sounding desperate the past month or so. Calling out every fighter at 140lbs on twitter. He doesn't deserve to share a ring with the top guys at 140lbs. European fighter at best. Maidana has bigger fish to fry, especially with Guerrero wanting to fight him. No one, except the blinkered Irish, want to see McCloskey vs Maidana.

I think it's a good fight to make, Maidana has kinda fought everyone else, now his picking up everyone else's opponents i guess? Keeps the game rolling.

I was so annoyed and frustrated when it was stopped. I am surprised by how "average" people view Maidana. He works correctly for a guy whose strength lies on getting inside and doing damage. He jabs very well from the outside, but he is no combination puncher from a range.
I think his style is a lot like Jake Lamotta's with the exception of Jake having a marginally better job than Maidana. I think Maidana crawls his way back to the top of the rankings by the end of this year if he can land 2 fights. Khan will lose the rematch. I really feel that had Maidana known all he had to do was put Khan on the ropes earlier it would have been stopped.
