Now the mandatory is over, Kessler refused to sit in the same ring as Bute as it is easier to become the mandatory for Sartison (who's much less dangerous than Bute), who remains? Rumors have it that Uncle Bob is negociating hard to pit Bute against Pavilk, good for Bute's visibility in America, not that interesting boxing wise. If Kessler wants to look for something else, I'd like to see him against Froch or Dirrell and to see his last bout of contract with Showtime against Ward.

Because Lucian Bute is from Romania and wanted to defend the title in his country.

I don't think Bute has fought a top ten fighter. Pavlik, at this stage, is not stepping up. I would guess Abraham, Green or Johnson after that. He doesn't seem anxious to fight the top guys.

Good post Nameless, good win, but let's see Bute against some of the other top super-mids now, bring on Kessler, Ward, Froch, et al, enough with the bum of the month club.

Honestly, seeing the way Froch has been handled by Taylor before Taylor ran out of gas, I'd give Bute the hell of a chance to force the Cobra into submission. Hopefully that fight happens, Bilbo is a huge Cobra fan, it would make it for some interesting discussions.

What about Kessler against pavlik???

He needs to fight the super six winner or kessler to be proved 'the best in my opinion......

Bute has already beat Bika. Other than the Ward v. Froch winner, and given Kessler dodged Bute, Pavlik is not a bad fight between now and the winner of the S6.

Agree 100%. Bute vs. the winner (or loser, even) of Froch/Ward is obviously the key fight. But in the meantime, Pavlik is about as good a fight as you can make without moving him up to fight Pascal, Hopkins, Dawson, or Cloud.

What about a fight with Johnson? I'd much rather see that than Bute - Pavlik.

Regardless of the circumstances, Bute is pissing his career away. I think he has all the tools to rule the SMW division, but he's just sitting around getting older and fighting gimmes. It's been pretty disappointing to watch his career progression to this point.

If kelly can get back to where he was I really think he can pull off the upset. Bute is over rated but he is skilled. Just think pavlik can bang him out in late round stoppage. Bute has never been tested by a good fighter. Andrade is solid but not comparable to pav at his peak

That just sucks to hear if its true. I know pavlik wanted to stay true to his upbringing and what not and stay in youngstown but hell he needs to move into a new environment. Fight very often so that he's got something to do and is focused and a new trainer wouldn't be bad. Most likely its all to late and pav will fight once a year for a few years while being in and outa rehab, or somethin worse...

Wow just wow. That is depressing. Well hope he can still fight aug 6. But really he is prob not ever going to be the same.
