More broken Britain: Man who killed hamster recieves 800 pounds a month in benefits

So let me get this right. This man receives 800 pounds a month in benefits and spends 70 pounds of it a week on weed? This man needs his benefits to be cut immediately.

Another loafer doing nothing at the states expense. You have to go after the top to justify going after the bottom and this means go for the bankers, but also wipe out this subclass of allowance hungry wasters at the bottom.

Thoughts?

He doesn't literally get £200 a week, right? Where's Bilbo?

My second thoughts are that without benifits many of the communities businesses would fail.

Benefits are as much for turn over to keep the system running as they are to support singles and families, they are not just a dead end for cash,there is a slight turn, but not quite a return. Its like expensive manure.

Trouble starts though when they give it away for nothing or no energy in return whatsoever for the first bit. Thats when it is expensive shit.

Apparently he has some knee injury so receives disability allowance, but surely a dodgy knee is not a disability, but an inconvenience. Anyway, I would imagine it would be some kind of rent support or something of that ilk. Looking at the picture of him and his Mrs, it kind of supports my rather rude outbursts about UK inbreeding. A peculiar looking pair.

My wife once had ankle surgery, she was back at work in weeks. It just sounds like an excuse to never earn an honest living.

I believe that the population of the Isle of Wight should be moved to the mainland and the entire lot of these people be shipped over there to fend for themselves, or mutilate each other or whatever it is they want to do. Maybe even let them set up their own chav government. But get them away from England, which at its core is a decent place. Reduce the population by 20% and you have a lovely place. Send the bankers to the Isle of Wight too.

Well, I would rather they exterminate themselves than have me do it. And no way would Hitler allow a Jewish government.

My main problem with that theory is that if you're putting them onto an island with no resources you're drawing out their pain, and they will survive in a very basic way for weeks, maybe even months, but it would still be a death sentence if you're preventing them from swimming back to the mainland.

If we are going to kill them, at least make it quick and don't pretend that it wasn't us that pulled the trigger by putting them on such an island.

Instead of Monster Munch maybe Space Raiders? There is a recession on after all.

I hate the welfare state with a passion, but can you blame the guy. If someone offered to give me as much money as I would earn from working, but I didn't have to work would I take it? Would you?

Chances are yes.

Now £800 wouldn't even cover my mortgage let alone anything else, so it's not a life for me. But if as a state we insist on giving these people money, then we can't blame them for taking it.

It's the system that is broken, people just take advantage of it.

Do I have to be the asshole to point out that it was just a hamster? They feed these things to snakes and do tests on them and one guy throws one and he is the jerk?

It's the benefits thing that we are having a go at here. The hamster is kind of secondary to most of us.

I find the link a bit absurd to be honest. Man on benefits kills a hamster, he must lose his benefits.

As for the £70 a week on weed. The government give you what you need to live on. If he gets 800 a month and manages to budget well enough to spend £70 quid on weed then fair play to him.

I'm a bit meh on the whole story. A hamster is just a rat without a tail at the end of the day.

To be honest most straight voting/working people would be thinking..Ok this bum is getting paid by the goverment to purchase his dakka, this and the lack of any work ethic probably has him feeling depressed so he is in balanced enough to go and kill a girls guinea pig.

Nothing wrong with benefits, but to find that someone is using a quarter of their taxpayer funded money on illegally purchased drugs is quite disgusting. People pay a lot of tax in the UK and I think anyone who pays tax should be annoyed by this guy. He has a dodgy knee, so has disability allowance too? Fix it and get a job, you just know this guy has been milking it and refuses to work like many, many others. This case has outed him and he should be made to pay.

I have no beef with you receiving allowance because your situation was serious and has left you somewhat depleted. But furthermore, you don't appear to be murdering hamsters. The guy is a lowlife and like too many in that country needs to motivate himself to stop smoking weed everyday and get a paying job.

The UK angers me because it is a place that rewards manipulation from top to bottom and yet who pays for it all, the millions who honestly stick to their work and pay their taxes. Those people are being seriously fobbed off.

I live in a society where I pay 4% income tax and I know for a fact potheads aren't taking a cut, teenage mums aren't getting housing from it, I know there isn't enough to go round to the banks. It has been suggested that I have become Asian, but that isn't quite true. But I have turned my back on the horror that is the UK.

I don't even live there and stories like this annoy me. I am surprised there hasn't been full blown revolution. I would have a heart attack reading this and knowing that a third of my income is being taken away for lost causes each month.
