Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
My Dad has said many times he thinks Casamayor could have given Floyd a good fight 130 and a run for his money.
Casamayor was a very good defensive boxer with a fighter's mentality and he was willing to do anything to win.
I think he could have been competitive with Mayweather, but ultimately lost a decision.
What say you ?

Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
Prime Casamayor was a great fighter and a southpaw to boot, but I have a hard time picking against Mayweather. To be honest, I have no idea who would win.
-
Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
Mayweather easy! I was a big fan of Casamayor & thought he deserved the decisions against Freitas, Corrales & Castillo, but at 130 Floyd was outstanding!

Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
Prime of late 90's/early 2000 Casa is also badass at 130-35 intriguing match up.

Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
IMO Mayweather would have stopped him late, Floyd was just as smart but more aggressive and had a lot more power at 130 (or was willing to commit a lot more to his punches), he would have probably broken Casamayor systematically, jabbing upstairs then shooting that straight right to the pit of his stomach, move out then potshot with another right or two up top, Casamayor had the tools to trouble him with his defense and counterpunching but I just don't think he would have been able to deal with the movement and all around diversity of Mayweather

Floyd had alot more power at 130? Committed more to his punches? Maybe you should stick to Badminton Forums.

I'm not sure what part your doubting of the previous post? Mayweather went 10 wins with 7 ko's starting with the Genaro Hernandez fight

Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
KOs dont signify power. Ali for example sliced up many an opponent with merely sharp punches-------stoppages from cuts, or just pure exhaustion----hardly KO power punches--- and got quite a few KO wins.
-
Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
Would of been a good fight for 4-5 rounds, but would end up like alot of Floyds fights after he figures you out he wins more or less every round imo Floyd stops him around the 9th. Plus at 130lbs he had more power and throw alot more combinations which made it ever harder to beat him.

Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
Floyd probably would have won in a very entertaining fight but he would not stop Joel.

Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
Where is VD ?
I thought surely he would come in here and weigh in as Casa was his favorite fighter.
I think Casamayor could have really troubled Mayweather.
But, its hard to pick Joel, knowing he was outboxed by Acelino Freitas.

At that time Frietas was good and very powerful puncher and the fight was very close. Floyd did not punch as hard but boxed way better.

Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
I too thought Casamayor won the Freitas, Corrales and Castillo fights. I think his craftyness would have made it a very game 6 rounds but like other posters I think Floyd would have made adjustments throughout the fight and win a comfortable 8 rounds to 4 decision. PBF might just be the best fighter I've ever seen at being able to adjust to his opponent during the fight add that to his multi-faceted abilities and I have a real hard time picking Joel.

apparently you need to learn a bit about boxing or actually watch Mayweather's fights, he became safety first basically from 135 onward, Floyd was plenty aggressive at 130, hell at 147 he still has better power than what most think, the thing is the guy doesn't commit to his punches, he's basically like Jones in the aspect that he COULD have ko'd a lot more of his opponents but CHOSE TO go the easy route and get a white wash win, all i ever see you post is ridiculousness :-X

Casamayor at 130 was an outstanding fighter. I see his rough and dirty style surprising Mayweather and taking him off his game in the beginning. Mayweather would adapt and get in his groove. But Casamayor banks enough rounds to take a very close points win. Mayweather has been fouled before. But he's never met a dirty fighter as skilled as Casamayor.
I do see Maywether taking a rematch in another highly compettive fight

There he is.

More stupid shit from El Terrible Bendejo Morales here. As usual. OK let's look at the great power KOs of Mayweather at 130, asswipe. First of all, when he was 16-0, his opponents' combined records was 97-88-11. That's total shite. So its no big deal or sign of any great KO power that he knocked out most of those bums. 97-88 record. WHEN HE DOES FINALLY START FIGHTING HALFWAY DECENT FIGHTERS---Cuello, Pep, Hernandez, Rios, Gerena, Gregorio Vargas, etc..----THE KNOCKOUTS SUDDENLY DISAPPEAR AND HE'S STILL AT 130. THAT is when he moves to 135/140 and then the KOs REALLY START VANISHING. He got only 3 KOs between 2002 starting with Castillo fights until he KOd Hatton in 2007. And Philip N'Dou and Henry Brussles are not what anyone would call great fighters that got knocked out.
El Terrible Morales proves himself one more time to be a horse's ASS with his posts.:shocking:

Are you telling me that ali who had 37 knockouts/tko didnt punch hard. 17 of those fights ended before or in the 5 th round....which I could hardly count as exhaustion and cuts.
-
Re: Prime Joel Casamayor vs. Floyd Mayweather at 130
he punched harder than your grandmother, but no where NEAR as hard as Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle, Cleveland Williams, etc. So yes wise-guy, thats what Im tellng you. You thought Ali was a great:shocking::shocking::shocking: power punching KO artist, then?

dude don't even bother lol this guy is dumb as shit than goes around trying to diss anyone else who well actually knows what he's talking about, but hey, the fact that he's talking shit about Mayweather's level of opponents and then goes on to say that Rocky Marciano is the GREATEST HW CHAMP OF ALL TIME pretty much goes to sum up how much this fool really knows, he's just another Xaduboxer, DannyG, milmascaras, etc. in short, a dip shit that knows jack shit about boxing then resorts to spewing out little corny insults
and for the record, the word is PENDEJO bud, and you sure as hell are a full blown PENDEJO

Dude...have you seen mayweather fight...seriously have you? Its fuckin obvious he doesnt commit as much anymore. The more he moved up in weight the more he worried about defence since heavier guys will hit harder. He doesnt put much weight into his right hand anymore, its either a quick right hand with barely any follow through or a chopping right hand when in close.
